There is a mental and physical checklist that shooters should run through before running their rifle suppressed. First off, do you have a suppressor? Great, one major hurdle down. Next in line should be preparing your host weapon for its new role as a silenced blaster. Concentric muzzle threading and for the Ar15 platform, proper gas […]

One of the interesting finds pointed out to me by an ammunition collector at Knob Creek is this interesting tidbit of history. The .5 Vickers is a semi rimmed round that was invented in the last year of World War One by necking down a .600 Nitro Express round. It was intended for the water […]

[Knob Creek] Demilled SCAR MK 17s, Suppressors
One of the vendors at Knob Creek had this piece all neatly put together. We reported on these demilled SCARs back in the summer with a POTD, with a crate filled to the brim with them! These particular rifles seem to have been contracted out by the DOD to a civilian company to get torched, […]

Ruger recently added a Compact model to the American Pistol line of handguns. The company was good enough to send me one in 9mm for testing (the ‘pro’ model without the external safety). So far, I’ve had the gun for about a week and taken it to the range once for about 400 rounds. Here […]

The More You Know: Cold Hammer Forging (CHF)

POTD: Beltfed Cozy Case
This photo shows what looks like a Ares Shrike AR broken down in a custom insert violin case. Notice the ammo belt nicely stowed in its own compartment. The velvet lined cut out looks very plush for this belt fed weapon. Just make sure the gun has cooled down before putting it back in side.
