AR-15 Podcast 126 – Building an AR-15 From Scratch Part 4
DeKalb, Illinois – J.W. Ramp and Reed Snyder bring you the fourth installment of building an AR-15 from scratch in this week’s edition AR-15 Podcast! Episode 126 is on the upper receiver. Previously, the show covered the parts needed to build the receiver. This week, the guys discuss the nuts and bolts of assembling the receiver. Physically assembling the parts is of course the culmination of a build and as such, the builder must exercise great care to ensure that it’s done right. The process is broken down into seven distinct categories: assembling the receiver itself; building the barrel assembly; installing the gas system; the bolt carrier group; charging handle; the handguard; and installing muzzle devices. Each of the sections gives detailed instructions for proper assembly, as well as common pitfalls for first time builders. Additionally, links are provided for some tools that will make your job easier. Though some aren’t “required,” they are surely recommended to ensure proper work. Reed and J.W. offer great insight from years of combined experience.
