Eley Introduces Match Grade Rimfire Ammo for Semi-Auto Rifles
I love Eley ammo. I used it all throughout college when I was shooting with the Penn State rifle guys, and it continues to be my go-to brand for accuracy testing in rimfire firearms. New for 2015, Eley is introducing two new lines specifically to service the growing number of semi-auto rimfire rifles. A supersonic “force” brand will be coated in a special finish to allow for easier feeding, and the “contact” brand will be subsonic ammo for quiet shooting and accurate groups. Both will retail for right around $8 a box.

MasterPiece Arms’ MPA-308 BA Reigns Supreme
As Nick wrote when he announced our first-ever choice for firearm of the year, MasterPiece Arms hasn’t generally been known for their high-end guns. But in naming their MPA-308 BA our Editors Choice New Firearm of 2014, he noted that “it’s a wonderful gun: a hand-crafted, precision-machined bolt action rifle. Each barrel is individually bored, rifled and hand lapped to perfection. Every action is individually tested to ensure that what leaves the factory is up to spec. The chassis provides a solid platform for the rest of the gun.” That’s MPA’s main main, Phil Cashin, above, accepting the honor. If you take the time to check one out, you won’t be disappointed.

Housekeeping: Pardon our Comment Complications
The good news is that as of about 11:00 a.m. yesterday, we’re now on much more capacious dedicated servers that have solved our bandwidth problems. It seems that SHOT Show traffic was just too much for the hamsters spinning the wheels behind the curtain. Only now some users are having comment-related problems. Please be aware that we’re aware and are working on resolving the situation. Thank you for your patience.

Quote of the Day: Going on Record Edition
“There are a few things I hate more than the NRA. I mean truly. I think they’re pigs. I think they don’t care about human life. I think they are a curse upon the American landscape. So we got that on the record.” – Bryant Gumbel in ‘Real Sports’ host Bryant Gumbel: NRA is ‘curse on the American landscape’ [via foxnews.com]

Spotted In The Wild: GLOCK’s P-Jet
Dan and I made fast friends with our shuttle bus driver Monday night, and good thing, too. He actually stopped in traffic so I could snap the cell phone pic above. Anybody know what kind of plane that is? Wonder if the giant GLOCK logo leads to more thorough customs inspections.
