Flashlight Review: Brownells BVL-530 “Versatile Light”
Many of us have done business with Brownells through the years. When they notified TFB of their new flashlight, it seemed only natural to give it a look. The light should look familiar to those of you who are familiar with the classic old Surefire C2 – the body of the BVL530 is similar in appearance. The […]

Aero Precision Releases Long-Awaited .308 Receivers
Aero Precision has released their long-awaited .308 receivers. The receivers are DPMS (Gen 1)-patterned. Both receivers are machined from forged 7075 t6 aluminum and then mil-spec anodized. The upper receiver is notably beefy and has a recessed cut-out for the bolt release. No extra material has been removed for popular “levers” (much to my chagrin). Uppers […]

Ukranian-Rebel Vintage Open Carry
Arto Pulkki, Eastern Europe military expert and writer at Suomen Sotilas, emailed us the above photo of Igor ”Strelkov” Girkin, the infamous leader of the Donbass People’s Militia which occupy two of Ukraine’s eastern provinces. Girkin’s choice of gun is interesting. It is the 1950s full-auto Stechkin APS machine pistol. Its bulky holster is made of wood and doubles as a […]

KAHLES K624i Rifle Scope
KAHLES, the Austrian scope company, had a new variation of their K312 II scope that they used Eurosatory 2014 to unveil - the K312i. It moves the parallax adjustment to the top turret to sit below the elevation adjustment as found in their K624i scope. They have moved the windage turret to the left side thereby swapping sides with the illumination turret which now resides on the right.

The Chinese 1900, A Hand Crafted Copy
Browning’s Model 1900 pistol was an icon and reasonably simple to manufacture. So when soldiers went looking for pistols in China, this one was an obvious choice. John Browning introduced the first slide operated handgun through Fabrique Nationale d’Herstal in Belgium. Originally known as the “Browning Pistol,” its widespread popularity made his name practically synonymous […]

The Most Useless Gun Patent I Have Ever Read
I read many gun patents and gun patent applications each week. I have seen many patents describing useless gun-related inventions but Patent Application US 2014/0173960 Al has got to be the worst I have ever seen. The patent application was filed on December 26, 2012, just days after the Sandy Hook tragedy. The patent application title is “Methods and […]

Understanding Ballistics in Home Defense
