BUIS Are Very Important
Mark Farage is no novice shooter. Mark checked the screws of his RMR to ensure they were properly torqued before he took a course with Ronin Combat Strategies. But during a 6 shot string drill, the screws flew off and so did his RMR. Without missing a beat, Mark managed to continue the drill with […]

H&K G36 Rifle Not Faulty: Bad Ammunition Caused Poor Accuracy
The Bundeswehr investigated the claims that the H&K G36 was suffering from accuracy problems and found that the rifle was not at fault. The problem lay with one of their ammunition manufacturers who were supplying ammunition with copper jackets that were to thin. AllShooter.de has published an article and a statement issued by the Bundeswehr (auto-translated with Google) … […]

Grayman Satu Stonewashed Finish
The Grayman Satu is a TFB writer favorite. Phil, Mike and I all own one. Grayman have changed the Ti-Ti (all titanium) model’s finish from a matte grey DCL (Diamond Like Carbon) finish to a ‘Stonewashed’ finish. The stonewash finish is apparently better at resisting rush and scratches are not noticeable. My Satu is the original DCL Ti/Ti model. It is […]

Lightning Review: Lone Wolf Dist. Prototype Glock Magazine Tool
My biggest complaint about Glocks (outside of the lack of ambi-anything) is disassembling the magazines for routine maintenance and cleaning. The tab system holding on the floor plates are the two single most aggravating pieces of plastic in the my history with firearms. Normally, I break out a set of large vice grips and use […]

The New Ruger 9E… A Low-Cost Ruger SR9
Based heavily on its higher-end cousin, the SR9, the company has announced the release of the full-size Ruger 9E 9mm handgun. The visual differences between the two models are subtle, but if you take a close look we can see how Ruger squeezed $100 off the MSRP. As a gun company, you can reduce costs by typically […]

AK-47 vs Armored Humvee Glass
In our other post, I shot at IbisTek Humvee armored glass with an array of small arms. However I did not have an AK-47 at my disposal or anything that shot 7.62x39mm. Here, TWANGnBANG shoots at the glass from both sides with an AKM. It is surprising the amount of spall when shot from the […]

AR-47 Hybrid .22LR Rifle
Thanks to Quintin for letting us know about this one. The gun was made by a guy in Cambodia. He dressed up an AR-15 using AK components. The AK parts are just cosmetic.

Gun Review: Taurus PT111 Millenium G2
I’ll admit, the first thought that crossed my mind when I was told that I was to do a review on the Millennium G2 was, “Is my writing so bad that my editors are trying to kill me?”. As many of you may be aware, the Millennium G2 has a sordid history with a notable […]

Witt Machine Mosin Nagant Muzzle Brake
If you own a Mosin Nagant, which I’m sure many of you do, then you probably know that sore feeling the day after shooting it. The folks over at Witt Machine have come up with something to help take away some of the sting from shooting 7.62x54r. They have some pretty interesting looking muzzle brakes […]

Semi-auto pistol improvised from sheet metal
Here is a simple little semi auto pistol design sent in that will likely be of interest: “A homemade conventional type self-loading pistol need not be complex in design or demanding in tools needed for it’s construction. Here is a bare-bones pistol design which is constructed from sheet steel and bar stock, the only power […]

New – Spike’s Tactical “Dynacomp 2″
Spike’s Tactical has released their latest version of their Dynacomp… the Dynacomp 2. The comp is about the length of a 5.56 round (about 2.3″). The principle changes from the original Dynacomp include a revised crown (which actually looks like a real “crown”) and a revised mounting lug area. It keeps the signature Dynacomp golf […]

(Another?) New AR15 Round – The .375 Reaper
I know there really is enough rounds for the AR platform that it will give you a headache just from trying to keep up. Now there is yet another round in R&D out there. Although the .375 Reaper is still in its infancy, there are various AR forums that are calling it the next .300BLK round […]

Ammo Prices: 06/27/2014
As many of us have noted, ammo prices are pretty stable overall. .22LR is still overpriced. .380 ACP is actually trending down. And most dealers are pretty close in price to one another for a given caliber and lot size. There are some vendors that have generally lower prices and some that have generally higher prices (but our data does not account for relative quality, nor for shipping).

Strike Industries Cookie Cutter Comp
Strike Industries recently debuted their new Cookie Cutter Comp that they’re claiming is the best muzzle brake on the market for AR pistols and Short Barrel Rifles (SBR). It may look cute, but Strike Industries says straight up that you shouldn’t expect this to help at all with flash suppression, because it won’t. Shooting this […]
