Austin, TX – A guy named Larry Steve McQuilliams decided to rain bullets upon government buildings in downtown Austin several days ago. He was well aware of the consequences and was apparently ready for them: He reportedly had the words “let me die” written on his chest.

Less than two weeks after the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) voted unanimously to toss out a 1957 partial ban on the use of sound suppressors for hunting, anti-gun forces have moved to challenge the decision by filing a petition with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings.

Not long after being thanked by local police for their presence, Oath Keepers were asked to leave Ferguson. They are reportedly challenging that order, after complying with it.

In past articles in this series, I have written about fixed blades, out-of-production knives, and traditional knives as EDC alternatives to the modern folder. In this piece, I am going to highlight multitools that I think make suitable replacements.

Traditionally, lasers have been mounted under the forend of long guns. Mounting them on the side added yet another offset from the bore, and mounting on top usually didn’t work because the front sight would occlude them. However, the top is the best place for a laser if your firearm allows such mounting, especially if it has a straight stock configuration and there’s no front sight to occlude the beam emitter.

St. Louis, MO – In yet another display of how our society fails to value human life, 32-year-old Zemir Begic was reportedly attacked by at least 4 young males armed with hammers. After beating him, they fled. Begic later died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Often times I find myself at the range testing a newly built AR-15, or an AR that needs a little tweaking, tuning, or tightening, and I am without the right tools to bring the gun back into adjustment.  Usually, this means begging for tools up and down the firing line, but when out in the field far from someone you can conveniently ask, “hey can I borrow a…?”  that can be an issue and make for a challenging day.

Most people who take up rifles for hunting, target shooting, defense and competition are able-bodied adult males. Most people who serve in the military are also able-bodied adults. As a result, not everyone understands just how much they overmatch certain smaller, shorter and less strong shooters in the ability to handle an 8 pound rifle effectively.To fully appreciate the extent of the weight and reach problem, try aiming a light machine gun like a PKM or an MG34 off hand — that would be a challenge for a 6 foot 180 pound adult man proportional to what a short, lightly built woman would face with a conventional AR15.
