Long Range Shooting with Glock Pistol | Instructor Zero
Zero engages targets at 300 Meters with a Glock to demonstrate the effect bullets still have if you happen to miss your intended target. Zero also demonstrates that with enough ammo and experience you can provide some suppressing fire with a secondary weapon at long range, if you are forced into that situation. This video is not saying that a hand gun should be used as a primary weapon to engage targets at range, but if you are desperate, this video proves that a pistol is not COMPLETELY useless.
Less than 40 rounds were fired to achieve 3 hits on a figure 11 target at 300 meters on a windy day. The entire shoot was completed in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Handgun Bullets And The Myth Of Stopping Power
Americans love their handguns. From the classic Colt revolvers of the 19th century to John Browning’s beloved 1911 design and beyond, handguns occupy a special place in American culture.
...Support For Gun Rights At Highest Point In Two Decades
Support for gun rights is higher than it’s been in decades, according to the latest data from the Pew Research Center that signals a stunning turnaround in how Americans feel about the issue just two years after the Newtown school shooting.
Pew found that 52 percent of Americans say Second Amendment rights are more important than gun control — up 7 percentage points from just after the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 schoolchildren and six faculty dead.
That’s the highest approval rating in two decades, and it’s being driven in part by changing attitudes among black Americans, who are increasingly likely to view guns as good for public safety.

...Navy Tests Super Precise Laser Weapon in Persian Gulf
It’s a warm November day in the Persian Gulf. The radar system of the USS Ponce detects an incoming vessel. An operator aboard the ship, working a controller not dissimilar to a PlayStation 4 handset, takes aim at the target using the Navy’s Laser Weapon System or LaWS high-aperture telescope. He sees a red, rigid-hulled inflatable boat on fast approach. The operator executes the command to fire. No sound emerges from the deck of the Ponce; there is no burst of gunpowder. The laser precisely destroys a three-foot high stack of shells on the red boat but misses entirely a decoy human just a few inches away.

Austin Police Chief’s Remarks About ‘Gun Enthusiasts’
“And that’s why it’s important for us as Americans to know our neighbors, know our families — tell somebody,” Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said Monday. “If you know somebody that is acting with a lot of hatred towards any particular group- especially if it’s somebody you know is a gun enthusiast or is armed with these type of firearms and they’re showing any kind of propensity for hatred- it doesn’t mean we’re going to take them to jail, but we might want to vet these people.”

The ABC News profile of ten-year-old Shyanne Roberts, a young firearms enthusiast, seemingly raised the blood pressure of the reporter covering the story.

Why Do Americans Love Guns?
It seems that the world and people in America want to know the answer to a question that is at the fundamental core of American culture. Why do Americans love guns?
...Barrel Length Studies In 5.56mm NATO Weapons
There has been a cultural shift from the 20-inch barrel length in the AR-15/M16 weapon systems chambered for the 5.56×45 NATO cartridge to progressively shorter barrels for the purpose of producing an increasingly more compact assault/entry weapon without resorting to a bull-pup design. Simple usage of these short-barreled weapons has shown the necessity for both sound and flash suppression, the intensity of which (in exceptionally short barrel lengths) approached the intensity of a flash-bang diversion device. This shift toward shorter barrels has resulted in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps adopting the 14.5-inch barreled M4 carbine with a re-design of the 5.56×45 from the 55 grain SS-109 to the 63 grain M855 ammunition to optimize this barrel length. The differing bullet design also necessitated a change in the rifling twist rate from the original 1:12 inches to 1:7 inches.
