FBI 9MM Justification
Below is a very interesting read from the FBI Training Division, FBI Academy, Quantico, VA. from a few months ago. This was a PDF file that was sent to me by a coworker. I want to emphasis this is not mine and I did not create it/the content. I simply copied the text and placed it in this format, here on Loose Rounds, so it was easier to see. It is an executive summary of justification for law enforcement agencies on 9mm for duty carry. If you have followed us here, you know I have been talking about numerous agencies switching back to 9mm over the last few years, as well as the FBI testing for their switch. Great strides in bullet technology have been made in the past decade and 9mm is on the top of its game. With a select few rounds in 9mm, that have been tested for duty carry, 9mm is fast becoming one of the best options for duty carry. ( the authors opinion on 9mm being the best defensive round is his and does not reflect the opinion of all looserounds writers or owners-ED) This goes into some detailed history of testing, common caliber myths and justification for 9mm use over other calibers. Enjoy!
...Baylor Senate Approves Concealed Carry on Campus
On Thursday, the Baylor Student Senate passed a resolution to allow concealed handguns on campus.
Under Texas law, students with a concealed handgun license can store a firearm in a locked vehicle on a street or driveway, or in a Baylor parking lot or parking garage.
This bill would allow students, staff, faculty and guests with concealed handgun licenses to carry their weapons on campus.
The university administration opposed to the measure in a statement.
“We continue to believe that concealed handguns on our campus would introduce potential challenges to campus safety overall and make more difficult the work of our public safety officers,” according to a Baylor University statement.
The bill will now go to the student body president for approval. If he vetoes the legislation, the senate can overturn it with 2/3 of a vote.
The Baylor administration will have a final say to make this a policy at the university.

One In The Chamber
For many, carrying with a round in the chamber is a step that hasn’t been taken yet. The reasons vary, but it’s definitely an issue for a lot of people. In this article, I am going to discuss a simple thing that you can do to ease your mind.
If you came here to say something along the lines of “Carrying with an empty chamber is stupid” or “Why even carry if your pipe is empty?”, save it. This article isn’t for you.

On The AR Platform
Andrew from Vuurwapen Blog posted this on Facebook last night and I thought it warranted a re-post here. He was talking to a friend who is an actual rocket scientist on the AR platform, and his friend said the following:
...Bill Eliminating ATF Introduced In Wake Of Botched Operations
A bill that would eliminate the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and fold its duties into the FBI and other agencies was introduced Wednesday in Congress.
...Rifles, Shotguns, and Walls
n our last tests shooting walls, we tried to line up 4 walls that were 2 feet by 2 feet.
It turned out that the 5.56 deviated so much from its course after the first wall, that it was almost impossible to hit the other walls to test penetration.
So, we built bigger walls. These are 4 feet by 4 feet. They are normal 1/2 inch drywall or sheetrock, as it is called in some areas. We spaced the walls about 10 feet apart to simulate normal across-the-room distances.
We will be trying to see how many walls will be penetrated by the rounds shot today.

5 Lost Secrets Of Combat Handgunnery
Evolution of doctrine is a strange thing. Sometimes, we do something after we’ve forgotten why we started doing it. Sometimes, we forget to do things we should be doing.
There are secrets the Old Masters of combat handgunning knew, secrets that have been lost to most because they weren’t incorporated into this or that “doctrine.” Just because they are lost doesn’t mean they don’t still work.

7 Ingenious Weapons From History That Should Never Have Worked
Human ingenuity has a way of triumphing over basic logic, and weapons design is one area where impractical ideas and designs have actually worked out.
A recent Quora thread posed the question of “what are some of the most ingenious weapons throughout history?” The answers span a wide spectrum of inventiveness, while providing insights into some of the truly remarkable — seemingly batty — ways humans have waged war.

...Report: US Weapons Now in Hands of ISIS
The Islamic State (ISIS) can count on one source of support for ready weapons in its brutal attempts to take over Iraq and Syria — the U.S. taxpayer.
A first-time field study report by an international weapons – track int think tank, Conflict Armament Research (CAR), has discovered six U.S.-made and U.S.-issued M16A4 assault rifles, each stamped, “Property of U.S. Govt.,” among weapons captured by Kurdish militia battling ISIS.
The report states, “Islamic State forces have captured significant quantities of U.S.-manufactured small arms and have employed them on the battlefield.”
The rifles likely were captured by ISIS from military stockpiles when they overran cities in Iraq and Syria. The weapons originally were provided to Iraq as “part of a multibillion-dollar U.S. program to arm and train the Iraqi military,” BuzzFeed reports.

Defending Our America: The Men Behind The Drugs
America consumes more drugs than any other nation, and they’re coming from beyond our borders. The bulk of the world’s heroin now originates in Afghanistan. That means American drug users are funding not only Mexican cartels, but also our enemies in the Middle East.
