September Gun & Gear Contests

Fri, 09/05/2014 - 15:46

At the risk of reducing my own chances to win, http://www.weapon-blog.com/gun-giveaway-contests/ has been updated with all the gun and gear related contests that I am aware of for
the month.

Go forth and win… As always, feel free to share wherever you can.

If you are aware of any that I do not have on the list, please let me know by using the form located at http://www.weapon-blog.com/contest-notification/.

Apologies for such a late posting this month. Business travel (to a location where I did not internet access) prevented the usual timely posting of the contests for the month.

When Guns and Computers Collide

Fri, 09/05/2014 - 11:39

Military firearms are a simple extension of previous technology; first we threw rocks. Then we used slings to send them further. We developed bows and arrows to deliver more force. Then we harnessed fire to make the first guns. Technology is ushering in the next phase, and it’s fascinating.

Ever notice that you don’t see this type of vitriol from those on the side of the 2nd Amendment?

Dear god. Please use Ebola to infect the @NRA and it's various members. For they are A true virus and true terrorists in America.

Sons Of Guns Cancelled

Thu, 08/28/2014 - 09:53

“Sons of Guns” star Will Hayden has been arrested again, this time for aggravated rape, according to documents sent to FOX411 by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.

The allegations have prompted the cancellation of his Discovery Channel series.

“Given the serious and horrific nature of the charges against Will Hayden, we have decided to halt further production of ‘Sons of Guns’ and cancel the series,” the network said in a statement.

I used to watch this show years ago when it first came out. Since then, it has fallen prey to the trap of many of the reality-based shows, where the producers either focus on or inject drama that doesn’t exist. It got to a point that I quit watching the show.

Bouncing Bullets

Thu, 08/28/2014 - 09:14

Dustin has some fun out on the range.

After watching Instructor Zero’s Rebound Shooting video I had to go and try it myself because it looks just like a Top Shot challenge. So what I’m doing here is firing my pistol at a steel plate on the ground, the bullet is then rebounding/ricocheting into the targets. I first shoot down my plate rack and then bounce a few 230 grain Winchester “1911Win” hollow points into Clear Ballistics Gel to see what kind of ballistic performance one would get with this stunt. Pistol used was an FNX Tactical .45 ACP with Trijicon RMR, Silencer Co Osprey and Streamlight TLR-1, read more about this setup in the September 2014 edition of Texas Fish and Game Magazine.

Andrew hits the nail on the head for this one.

Yesterday, a “firearms instructor” here in Arizona was killed after a nine-year-old girl he was “instructing” in the use of an Uzi shot him in the head with said Uzi.
