Tim Wells of ‘Relentless Pursuit’ Impaled in Spear Hunt Gone Wrong
The hunt of a lifetime took a turn for the worse when one hunter found himself impaled by his own spear. Tim Wells of Relentless Pursuit announced that he was recently injured during a trip to Africa when one of his spears dropped on his leg. Thankfully, the spear missed his femoral artery and Wells was able to stabilize the wound before being rescued.
"Yes it is true that Tim has been speared in Africa after climbing down from a tree he was hunting in," his Facebook page stated. "Hunting alone, his spear fell...
Murder Suspect’s Lawyer Blames Gun’s Lack of External Safety
On July 1, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez shot and killed Kate Steinle as she was walking along a San Francisco pier. Lopez-Sanchez, who is a convicted felon and has been deported to Mexico five times, admits that he did shoot Steinle, but claims that the shooting was accidental. Lopez-Sanchez also claimed that the firearm was not his and that he found it wrapped in a shirt underneath a pier bench. Now the suspect's lawyer, public defender Matt Gonzalez, is claiming that Lopez-Sanchez never pulled the trigger.
The defense places the blame squarely on the gun's lack of an external...
Video: President Obama Samples Grizzly’s Half-eaten Fish with Bear Grylls
If we were to tell you a month ago that President Barrack Obama would be roughing it in the Alaskan wilderness and sharing a half-eaten salmon with survival expert Bear Grylls, you'd think we'd gone crazy. Yet that is precisely what seems to have happened.
The commander-in-chief took time out of his landmark visit to Alaska last week---the first by any sitting US president---to sample some salmon as part of NBC's Running Wild with Bear Grylls. The fish had...
WI Cougar Sightings Continue, No Evidence They’re Settling Down
Seven years after the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) confirmed that a cougar was roaming the state for the first time in a century, it remains unlikely that North America’s largest wildcat has reestablished a breeding population in the Badger State.
All six cougars the DNR has since identified through DNA samples from hair, blood, urine, or feces samples were males from South Dakota’s Black Hills. These toms were most likely juveniles passing through on futile searches to establish breeding territories.
By definition, breeding territories include at least one female...

NY Governor Cuomo Demands Nationwide Gun Control after Aide is Shot
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made the case for nationwide gun control legislation after a former aide, Carey Gabay, was shot while attending the West Indiana American Day Carnival parade on Monday.
Gabay was struck by what officials have said was a stray bullet during a shooting in Brooklyn and is now in critical condition. The 43-year-old lawyer was previously one of Cuomo's assistant counsels, and now serves as the First Deputy Counsel at Empire State Development. Governor Cuomo met with reporters on Tuesday and called opponents of gun control "delusional." Cuomo further argued that...
Video: Tourist Charged by Elk at the Grand Canyon
This should go without saying, but wild animals need to be treated with respect. This video is ample evidence of that fact.
In the video we see a woman being approached by a presumably startled elk. The startled animal then briefly charged her, which caused her to throw down the bag she was carrying.
For the rest of the video we get to watch people try and recover her belongings without being trampled by the elk. Eventually her belongings were recovered and no one was harmed.

Video: Does Warm Ammo Shoot Faster Than Cold Ammo?
Do warm rounds have a higher velocity than cold ones? Some people claim that military snipers will warm up ammunition in the sun so the heat can create higher pressures inside the round, therefore leading to a higher velocity when fired.
Enter The Wound Channel, who decided "test" the rumor by leaving several rounds out in the sun until they're burning hot. In contrast, another group of rounds were cooled down with air conditioning until they were cold to the touch. So do "hot" rounds really go faster? Watch the video below to find out.
We're not totally sold on the results (it was...
Hunters Fight Off Grizzlies in Two Separate British Columbia Attacks
Hunting in British Columbia is turning out to be a dangerous endeavor after officials reported two separate grizzly attacks in under one week. Two sheep hunters near Buckinghorse River are now recovering from serious injuries after an encounter with a grizzly sow on Sunday, and an elk hunter from the Cranbrook area was hospitalized after an attack on Tuesday.
Despite suffering serious wounds in both cases, the hunters were able to successfully fight off the bears and contact rescue services. Officials warn that during this time of year bears are attempting to fatten up before winter and may...
Concealed Carry Myths: Can You Shoot Fast Enough to Beat the Other Guy?
Remember Driver's Educaiton? If your class was like mine, you learned about the dangers of tailgating. You know, following the car in front of you too closely.
If you do that, and the driver in front slams on their brakes, you might rear-end them. In fact, given the right conditions, there is a 100 percent chance you will rear-end the car in front of you, no matter how much you stomp on your brakes. While you may think you can stop fast enough to avoid a crash, you cannot, no matter how good your reflexes are.
There are a few variables at play that can make collision a...
Video: Rare Two-headed Snake Caught on Video Eating a Mouse
It's not everyday you see a two headed snake unless you are the owner of the Venice Beach Freakshow.
The Venice Beach Freakshow recently purchased Medusa, a two-headed albino milk snake, for $50,000. Even though the snake is only three feet long, it poses a number of challenges for its owner.
Feeding time is exceptionally difficult, as the two heads compete with each other for the meal---which you can see in the video below.

Here is another higher resolution video of the snake...
Walter Palmer Breaks Silence, Says Killing of Lion Was Legal
On Tuesday, 55-year-old Walter Palmer returned to his dental practice in Bloomington, Minnesota. It was the first time the dentist returned to his office since media outlets identified him as the man who shot and killed Cecil, a popular black-maned lion in Zimbabwe.
Palmer gave and in-depth interview to the press when he met with reporters from the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Associated Press on Sunday. In the 20-minute interview, Palmer reaffirmed his belief that...
Video: Italian Anglers Caught in Huge Hailstorm
Rough weather is one of the biggest dangers for anglers out at sea, and can mean the difference between a pleasant fishing trip and a really, really bad one. In the video below, the anglers were reportedly fishing in the Gulf of Naples when they found themselves overtaken by a massive hailstorm.
"Hail as big as eggs," read the video's title. From what we've seen, they were quite a bit bigger than eggs, especially counting the fist-sized ball of ice that landed directly in their boat.
To their credit, the anglers seemed to be in good cheer despite the icy barrage. Hopefully they had...
Why Michigan is a Top State for Grouse Hunters
There is little doubt among American sportsmen that Michigan is one of the top ruffed grouse hunting states in America. The reason is simple: grouse hunting in Michigan is good. Very good.
Department of Natural Resources hunter surveys indicate just how good; in an era in which small-game hunting is generally in decline across the state, grouse hunter numbers are hanging in there. More hunters say they hunt ruffed grouse than any other small game species.
So what makes Michigan such a great grouse hunting environment? In a part of the country (the Upper Great Lakes region) that’s...
Wisconsin Kayakers Rescue Buck from Underwater Cave
A group of kayakers in Lake Superior found themselves serving as wildlife rescuers after they spotted a whitetail buck trapped inside an underwater cave last month. The deer was found standing in neck-high water inside a series of caves near Meyer Beach and according to wildlife officials, had likely been stranded for about a week.
"You could just---prominent hip bones sticking out. He just looked weak. He was just shaking and shivering because inside the cave the water is freezing,” kayaker Jen Boyd told Read more »
Video: Blue-headed Black Bear Spotted in Canada
We've seen a lot of bears in a lot of different colors, but we've never seen a blue-headed black bear before. What makes it more interesting is just how vibrant the blue is, almost like a dye pack exploded in the bear's face after a bungled bank robbery. According to Vancitybuzz.com, this video was taken by Aaron Smith on Tuesday night near Silvermore Lake in British Columbia. When he sent the video to wildlife officials, they were just as confused as he was.
One thing they were sure of is that...
Oklahoma Dove Poachers Arrested in Hunting Blind Made of Weed
Officers from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) got a surprise on Sunday when they found three men poaching doves over bait, and then discovered that their blind was made almost entirely out of marijuana plants. The incident took place in Major County.
"Sunday morning, August 30th, did not start out like a normal day for game wardens Phillip Cottrill (Garfield County) and Lt. Frank Huebert (Major County). A passer by called in and reported seeing some Mojo dove decoys spinning in a field. The wardens arrived to find 3 guys dove hunting over bait. Strangely, they were...
Video: Man “Senses” Burrowing Moles, Captures Them by Hand
So you have a mole problem in your yard. What do you do about it? Many people would opt for a poison remedy, but not this "mole whisperer."
The man in this video claims to have the ability to find and capture moles using his mind and hands. While this might seem like magic, it's just a trick---he already knows where the mole is.
We would liken this skill to using a dowsing rod to search for water. Regardless of whether or not this man has supernatural mole-capturing abilities, this is still a pretty entertaining video.

Apple Bans Mobile Game That Lets Players Shoot Hunters
The developers of a mobile game called Cecil's Revenge announced on Thursday that Apple has rejected their application from the App Store due to guideline violations. The gameplay of Cecil's Revenge is similar to that of the classic 2D game Asteroids, but instead of shooting space rocks, the player is tasked with gunning down images of hunters from a car filled with wild animals.
The game can still be downloaded for Android devices from Google Play.
According to the creators of the app, David Kotkin and Glenn Cutler, Apple rejected the app due to guidelines...
Video: Hunter’s Stag Snatched by Helicopter Marksmen
How would you feel if, after stalking a stag for hours in the wilderness, a bunch of market hunters swooped in on their helicopter, shot your stag, and airlifted it out from right under your nose?
Yeah, you wouldn't be happy either. The odds of that happening in the United States are pretty low. In New Zealand, however, where market hunting for some game species is legal and is often done from the air, hunters often dread the characteristic sound of helicopter blades.
"This is the reality of hunting public land in New Zealand," wrote the video's uploader. "I am not posting this to...
