SHOT Show 2024: Harrington & Richardson Announces Wood A1 Stock Sets for AR-15 Retro Rifles
Harrington & Richardson previewed their new wood AR stocks at SHOT Show 2024. They teased these on social media awhile back but they’re ready to roll now. The wood stock stock sets are made by American-Icon, a veteran owned company that uses all US sourced materials.
The stocks consist of A1 pattern triangular handguards, and A1 style grip with an A2 length buttstock. They’re available in either maple with an Aberdeen Brown finish or black walnut with a a distressed, darkened “BattleBorn” finish.
SHOT Show 2024: The Glock 49
The Glock 19X honestly never made sense to me. Who wants a long grip and a short barrel? All the downsides of a tough-to-conceal firearm and none of the benefits of a longer slide. When Glock dropped the Glock 49, it finally made sense. The Glock 49 isn’t revolutionary, but it does represent a model shooters have wanted for a long time.
The Glock 49 – The One We’ve Waited For
The Glock 49 utilizes a Glock 17 length slide, or Glock 47 to be specific, with a Glock 19 frame.

KelTec KSG410 Trigger Time at SHOT Industry Day at the Range
KelTec announced the KSG410 a little bit back but they had them at Industry Day at the Range for SHOT 2024 for industry folks to shoot. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s basically a dual magazine tube KSG shotgun shrunk down to take .410 shells. The smaller diameter tubes make the KSG410 very similar in size and weight to the single tube KS7.
I have a 12-gauge KS7 and it’s a slick, compact shotgun.
Diamondback Firearms SDR .357 Revolver at Industry Day
I’ll be honest, when I saw the press release for the Diamondback Firearms .357 Magnum SDR revolver the other day, I was nonplussed. It looked fine, but nothing special at a glance. After being able to examine it up close and shoot it at SHOT Show 2024’s Industry Day at the Range that all changed. The SDR .357 is Diamondback’s second revolver release following the .22LR/.22 Magnum Sidekick last year. That was a Western inspired trail gun/plinker that had a swing-out cylinder and double-action mechanism.

Biden Admin Still Holding Up Small Arms Shipments to Israel For Civilian Self-Defense
Initial public statements from the Biden administration regime touted their full and complete support of Israel in the aftermath of the barbaric Hamas attacks on October 7th. The unelected people in the Biden “leadership” team might say they are supporting Israel, but actions speak louder than words. Despite pleas from Israel for small arms for civilian self-defense, the Biden regime continues to block those shipments.
Yes, on paper the shipments have been approved.
Riton Optics Design Interview
One thing that differentiates good shooters from great shooters is how in-depth they know their equipment. Knowing the design parameters and knowing the inner workings of a specific feature set will help you maximize performance in any given situation.
The following Shooter Opinions interview is with Jerimiah Alexander, the director of Product Design at Riton Optics. Jerimiah’s background as a competitive shooter and ELR enthusiast gives him valuable real-world experience to influence the products he designs.

Gun Violence Archive Logs ‘Non-Violent’ Incidents as ‘Gun Violence’
The Gun Violence Archive stands as the favorite go-to resource for anti-gun reporters and politicians to draw on statistics about violence committed with firearms. However, the truth must not be sensational enough for them. So what does the GVA do to whip up emotions? By their own reporting, they’re including very “non-violent” incidents as “Gun Violence” in their “school shootings” category.
If their cause was righteous and noble, why do they have to lie?
Federal Court Strikes Down Pennsylvania’s Young Adult Emergency Carry Ban
A federal court has thrown out Pennsylvania’s law banning young adults ages 18 to 20 years old from carrying firearms during a declared emergency.
On Jan. 18, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, based in Philadelphia, by a 2-to-1 vote ruled the ban to be unconstitutional under the new standards prescribed by the 2022 Supreme Court ruling in Bruen.
“We understand that a reasonable debate can be had over allowing young adults to be armed, but the issue before us is a narrow one,” U.S.
Lessons For Gun Owners From The DOJ Uvalde Response Report
A few days ago, the Department of Justice released their report on the response to the Uvalde shooting in 2022. While we aren’t all working for public safety or emergency management agencies, there are a few important lessons we should all take away from the report. I’ll cover some of the more important ones, but if you do work for an agency, you’d better read the whole thing without skimming!
Before I get into the lessons, let’s get one big thing out of the way: the report didn’t say that semi-automatic rifles should be banned.

Hi-Point gives their .380 ACP the Yeet Treatment
MKS Supply is giving their Hi-Point .380 ACP a yeet into the new year. No, they aren’t chucking their .380s out of the line, rather they’re giving it the full Yeet Cannon treatment with the release of the YC380. This will add a threaded barrel, the new style grips, reshaped slide with optics mounting options and the Glock style replaceable front sight, as well as a double stack 10-round magazine. MSRP is still a very reasonable $229, and they’re covered by Hi-Point’s lifetime warranty.

Mexico’s Lack Of Gun Rights Is Creating A Real Mess For The U.S.
As we all know, there’s a big damned mess on the U.S. border right now. The State of Texas is trying its hardest to keep people from unlawfully crossing the Rio Grande, but to do so, they’re fighting the federal government. In other places, including Arizona, record numbers of people are crossing or attempting to cross, and they’re mostly not being stopped by federal authorities. So, border states have been bussing and flying migrants to “sanctuary cities” to let them deal with the problem.
Alec Baldwin Indicted on Involuntary Manslaughter Charges in New Mexico
Alec Baldwin’s set on the Western movie “Rust,” was reportedly plagued with all manner of mishaps and safety violations including multiple negligent discharges. Ultimately, prosecutors say those culminated in Baldwin, a big supporter of gun control for the little people, firing a shot that killed a 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded Baldwin’s director.
Baldwin claims the “prop” gun on the Rust film set that was loaded “with blanks” “misfired.”
There’s even video out there of Baldwin practicing his pistolero skills.
Mossberg Introduces 590 and 940 Pro Thunder Ranch Shotguns
Mossberg has released a slew of new shotguns for 2024 but two that caught my eye are the Thunder Ranch editions designed in conjunction with Clint Smith, from Thunder Ranch, the famed firearms training facility in Southern Oregon. The Mossberg 590 and 940 Pro Thunder Ranch Shotguns build on the proven Mossberg platform and add features with input from Clint and his staff. Notable things are the Patriot Brown Cerakote finishes, optics-ready receivers, fiber-optic front sights and reduced length of pull stocks.

Obscure Object of Desire – VZ 70
I’ve always wanted a Walther PPK in .32 ACP. They are neat little guns but haven’t been made or imported in what seems like forever. James Bond is always associated with the PPK, and the PPK is always associated with the .380. However, it bears mentioning that the original Bond PPK was a .32 ACP. According to Q, it hit like a brick through a plate glass window. Sadly, the .32 ACP PPKs are expensive.

Taiwan’s Civilians Prepare To Fight…With Airsoft
A recent video from The Guardian features interviews with several civil defense activists in Taiwan who want to better prepare their people for an invasion. But, Taiwan’s government officials clearly need to get over their fear of armed civilians for this to do the most good.
Let’s first take a look at the video (article continues afterward):
While the country’s government doesn’t allow civilians to possess firearms, there are some very committed people trying to do as much as they can with what they can get.

All Luck Buck: A Trip from the Range Turns Into a Quick Hunt for a Trophy Deer of a Lifetime
I’d spent almost every single minute of daylight shooting out to the limit of the range on my property. I’d gotten tons of solid data on new loads, zeroed some scopes, broke in a new .300 Win. Mag., and even got to shoot my new SSK-50 pistol out to half a mile. The weather was perfect, and the lack of cell reception made it even better. A great day done, the sun touched the horizon and I headed to the house.
Kansas Lawmakers Push To Strengthen 2A Rights
While legislators in many states are waging an all-out assault on their citizens’ right to keep and bear arms, Kansas lawmakers are working to bolster those rights.
House Concurrent Resolution 5020, currently under consideration in a state House committee, would amend the Kansas State Constitution to expand coverage of the state’s already strong right to bear arms protection. With more than 60 lawmakers listed as authors, the measure would clarify that the existing constitutional right would also include firearm components, accessories and ammunition, and specify that any future restrictions enacted would be subject to strict scrutiny by the courts.

Things That Don’t Suck: Streamlight Wedge XT Rechargeable EDC Light
I’ve been carrying a Streamlight Wedge for the past couple of years as my primary EDC light. It’s a great light. It’s flat, and it has a pocket clip so it carries much like a folding knife in your pocket. It puts out a very usable 300 lumens of light for routine use and has a a 1,000 lumen “Thro” setting for shorter burst when you need to put more light onto something.
