Bravo Company’s KMR is constructed of an aluminum and magnesium alloy, weighing 7-ounces when installed with mounting hardware.
The KMR system will be initially available on BCM complete u

G&A Retrospective: M1 Garand Turns 78
The man who started it all was born in Canada on January 1, 1888, and emigrated to Denisonville, CT, while just 10 years old. A decade later young John was working for Browne & Sharpe, a tool and gauge maker, and at 26 he relocated to Providence, RI, to take a job with the Federal Screw Corp.
When Garand moved to New York City, he found an interest in the development of small arms. His first project caught the attention of the U.S. Navy Bureau of Invention, who pressed him to relocate to the National Bureau of Standards to further his development of a mechanism that would solve common problems often a

Revealed: Glock 41 & 42 Pistols
So here’s the deal; the Glock 41 is a longslide .45, and the new Glock 42 is a .380. Let’s consider them one at a time.
GLOCK 41
For those of you who have been pleading for a Glock .45 to take on the longslide Model 1911s, your day has come. The Glock 41 Gen4 is actually a brand-new model chambered in .45 ACP. It’s built with a G34 slide width on a G21 Gen4 frame, saving 1.5 ounces over a standard G21 Gen4. It all boils down to a new Practical/Tactical model in .45, much like the Glock Model 34 and 35 (9mm and .40 S&W respectively). All of the benefits of the legacy Practical/Tactical models will carry over to the new G41, such as extended factory controls, maximized sight radius, improved weight distribution and a refined balance.

Initially available in a 12-gauge, 3-inch magnum version, the semi-auto ETHOS will be available with a matte-black or nickel-plated engraved receiver. The new Benelli ETHOS is available in matte-black finish for $1,999, and engraved nickel-plated for $2199.

Revisiting a Classic: The LaserMax Guide Rod Laser
The message was intriguing, but it also brought with it a reminder of the passage of time. LaserMax wanted me to go to Gunsite to help celebrate its 25th year. Oh my. It had been just a fraction over 25 years since my first trip to Paulden, Arizona, then as a hot-shot IPSC competitor and gunsmith. And now I’m going as a gunwriter? Alas, Jeff Cooper is there no more. But the place, focus and course of instruction he founded live on at Gunsite.
So I subjected myself to the indignities of commercial air travel, folded myself into what the airlines laughingly refer to as “seats” and traveled west.
The big news, once we arrived, was simple. LaserMax had been busy in the 25 years since their start. They had learned how to harness the green laser, and then they combined it with the original LaserMax product, one that ha
First Look: Remington R51 Sub-Compact Pistol
New for 2014, the Remington R51 Sub-Compact pistol was designed as a modern version of Remington’s original Model 51. Originally designed in 1915 by John Pedersen, the Model 51 was considered ahead of its time, and soon became one of Gen. George Patton’s personal sidearms during WWII.
While designing the new R51 Sub-Compact, Remington aimed to modernize Pedersen’s design to work with 9mm Luger and .40 S&W cartridges. They also wanted to maintain the personality, shooting characteristics and size of the original Model 51.
Enter the R51 Sub-Compact—a modern, concealable pistol with the ability to handle +P factory ammunition. The R51 uses a hammer-fired, Pedersen action with a locked breech and fixed 416 stainless steel barrel. It also features drift-adjustable sights and an aluminum f
Mikhail Kalashnikov Passes Away, Leaves AK-47 Legacy
Mikhail Kalashnikov has passed away today in Izhevsk, Russia. While the official cause of death has yet to be released, the 94 year old firearm designer had been hospitalized for the past month with various health ailments. Considered a national hero in his home country of Russia, Kalashnikov designed the AK-47 rifle for a national competition, and notably never profited from its production.
Kalashnikov is survived by three children, and perhaps the finest legacy any inventor can dream of. His first successful firearm design was the iconic AK-47 rifle—a true gun of the people for its ease of use. By 2009, various sources estimated over 100 million copies of the design had been manufactured worldwide. The rifle remains in widespread use and dozens of variants are in manufacture today.
Kalashnikov suffered from health problems early on in life, but still conscripted into the Red Army at the age of nineteen. He showed an aptitu
