Mon, 02/02/2015 - 13:40

The GunsAmerica team has the special privilege of getting a personal tour of the new Ruger product line from none other than Mike Fifer, CEO. The original plan was for Mike to pick out his three favorite guns. Being a good company man, he managed to expand the number to five and a half while we were distracted by all the new stuff. Tricky guy, that Mike. Here's hist list.

Mon, 02/02/2015 - 06:27

AR-15s in calibers other than 5.56 are nothing new. Yet one big trend recently is the attempt to perfect the 7.62x39 in AR form. Is that the answer? Or can the AK be refined? That's the question that these 5 guns from SHOT Show 2015 try to answer.

Rock River’s New LAR-47 Line–The AR AK–New Gun Review

Sun, 02/01/2015 - 09:43

The LAR-47 is, without a doubt, my most anticipated review of 2014. I put my name on a list a long time ago, and patiently waited. So how does the 7.62x39 AR stack up against my expectations? I'll say this for the rifle--it is absurdly accurate. But that accuracy comes with some hard-to-swallow personality quirks.

No Guns on Planes Law: Common Sense or Anti-gun?

Sun, 02/01/2015 - 08:37

The question I have for you is: should law-abiding citizens be allowed to carry firearms onto airplanes? Or, put another way, are laws that ban one from carrying on board a 747 common sense or anti-gun?

How to Butcher a Wild Hog – Photo Essay

Sat, 01/31/2015 - 17:30

With so many first time gun owners out there are bound to be a whole bunch of first time hunters as well. Wild hogs are available to hunt year round, and because they have a short gestation cycle, there are almost no bounds to their numbers. Corn feeders can bring wild hogs in to a specific location at fairly reliable regular times, and the wild-caught meat is not gamy at all. Most would agree that especially corn fed wild hog is much better than feedlot commercial pork. This is a photo essay on how to butcher your own wild hog.

A. Uberti Cattleman Single Action

Sat, 01/31/2015 - 14:09

So you want to experience a gun that the pistoleros of old carried? The wheel guns of lawmen and outlaws alike was the Colt 1873. Original Colts are getting more and more expensive and then there is the risk of shooting a 100 plus year old revolver. But there are options to get the next best thing. Thanks to some of our Italian brothers we can shoot reproductions of the classic old west guns without fear for safety, damaging a collectable and with out breaking the bank. This Uberti Cattleman is a great place to start.

Prepping 101: The Biggest Scam in the History of Mankind

Fri, 01/30/2015 - 12:30

After "winning" the midterm election in November, I think a lot of people who were about to take the leap into preparing for any kind of imminent collapse got lazy. I just took a trip to the Northeast US, and couldn't believe how asleep the general population is up there to what is going on in the world around them. At Logon Airport, Boston, I encountered one of their State Troopers, who you would swear was intentionally dressed in a costume of a Nazi SS trooper, and who was sporting, right there in the airport, a front slung suppressed MP5 with a double pancake mag in it. His hand was on the grip and his finger was across the trigger guard. Yet nobody but me seemed to be bothered by such a thing.
