Liam Neeson on U.S. Gun Ownership: ‘[Expletive] Disgrace’

Tue, 01/13/2015 - 08:48

“There’s too many [expletive] guns out there,” said Neeson. “Especially in America. I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’”

A Look at SilencerCo’s Saker 556 Suppressor

Sun, 01/11/2015 - 08:35

For a little baby bullet in a little baby cartridge, the .223 Remington / 5.56mm sure makes a lot of noise. Unsuppressed, you can figure the noise level at about 165 decibels, varying, of course with rifle type, barrel length, etc. That’s  louder than a 12 gauge shotgun, a jet taking off or […]

Prepping 101: Radio Silence! – The Mobile HAM Backpack

Sat, 01/10/2015 - 23:26

If you think about it, communication with the outside world is going to become really important in the weeks and months after a system collapse or major disaster. You may have food and water for months, but you don’t have it for years. And as I explained in my article on seeds, growing your own food just isn’t that easy. But as several commenters pointed out on the first radio article in this series, there is a strong argument to maintain radio silence. Any experienced radio operator can triangulate your position as soon as you press the send key, and in any survival situation, you can bet that there will be hostiles out there listening for where they can steal some supplies. Radio silence has to be weighed against the benefits of reaching out to the world outside.

Christensen Arms Custom 1911 Commanders

Fri, 01/09/2015 - 22:59

Some high-end 1911s are exceptionally well-built works of art that don't seem to be designed for daily carry. They're pretty. Not this one. The Christensen 1911 Commander is one of the most complex versions of the old Browning single-action I've ever seen. This titanium framed .45 ACP is built for several lifetimes of daily carry.
