When people think about getting chased by wildlife, they usually think of bears, wolves, or mountain lions. They probably never think of tortoises. When explorer and filmmaker Paul Rose stumbled upon two mating tortoises in Seychelles, the last thing he expected was that he’d soon be “running” away from a giant Aldabra tortoise named Jonathan. At 183 years old, Jonathan is believed to be the oldest living animal in the world.

Now, the herd is awaiting release into the wild.

Earlier this week, Ford Motor Company issued three new safety recalls that might affect a vehicle that you own. More than 213,000 vehicles are affected, although some are police interceptors and ambulances. As with all recalls, I encourage you to follow up if your vehicle is on the list. If you are the original owner, you can expect to be notified by Ford.

Texas State High School Bass Fishing Championship 2015
Lake LBJ and Marble Falls, Texas were buzzing with young anglers the weekend of March 20 with the Texas High School Bass Fishing Tournament in full swing. This was the third and final year the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ area to host the tournament.
Chase Hux and Matt Nicholas of the Wildcat Fishing Team from new Braunfels Christian Academy are the new 2015 Texas High School Bass Fishing Tournament Champions. They beat the second place team by 8 ounces, landing a total of 26 pounds and 15 ounces.
Seventy-three teams entered the tournament, with 41 of those teams delivering the requisite five fish bag at weigh-in. The total weight of all fish caught and released was 753 pounds.
Both members of the winning team received a $2500 scholarship. The second place team each received $1250 scholarships.

Texas GOP Lawmaker Introduces Bill Abolishing Gun Free Zones
On March 24 Texas state representative Drew Springer (R-Muenster) introduced legislation to abolish gun free zones throughout the state of Texas.
...74 sharks: Fishermen were over double the limit
Three men in Louisiana were cited for possessing 74 sharks this past weekend, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division.
State regulations limit commercial shark fishermen to 36 large coastal sharks per vessel per day. Agents said the three men – Daie Minh Le, Hung Van Le V and Thanh Van Le – were still fishing when they checked them. The sharks in their possession were mostly blacktip, with one hammerhead.
The citation can bring a $100-$350 fine and up to 60 days in jail.

Tasmanian Teenager Could Break Australian Record with 580-pound Swordfish
A 16-year-old is believed to have broken an Australian record after he landed a 580-pound swordfish in Coles Bay, Tasmania. According to ABC News Australia, it took six hours for Kyle Longmore to pull in the massive fish during the Coles Bay Classic competition over the weekend. Leo Miller, the skipper of the boat, commended Longmore for his endurance during the grueling battle.
