Matador Arms’ New Montgo-9 Upper Receiver: Monolithically Blowback
Matador Arms has announced the Montgo-9: a monolithic, blowback-operated billet 9mm upper receiver that does not require an AR-15 style buffer and tube. Think something along the lines of an AR18’s internals and you will have the idea.
Manufactured in the USA, the Montgo-9 is compatible with any AR-15 and/or AR-9 lower, providing shooters with endless build possibilities while being compact and versatile without sacrificing potential firepower – particularly if using an “extendo” magazine.
After Allowing 18 Months of Violent Protests, Portland Wonders Why They Now Include Gunfire
The Portland police bureau charged a 65-year-old man from Gresham, Oregon, over a gunfight in the city’s downtown during violent clashes on Sunday. Authorities say Dennis Anderson drew a concealed handgun and shot at a group of anti-fascists who were trying to expel him from the area. At least one of the anti-fascists shot back, according to authorities, with seven shots exchanged between the two sides. …
The use of airsoft and paintball guns, just like any weapon, can be prosecuted when they are used to threaten others.
Gun Meme of the Day: Emphasis on the Firearms Edition
Maybe ATF should switch its acronym to FAT, considering where its focus is.
As for the meme and how it relates to ATF’s focus, right about 2/3 of annual “gun deaths” are suicides and there’s effectively no evidence that gun bans or extremely strict gun control has an effect on a country’s (or state’s) suicide rate. Typically 9,000 to 12,000 of annual “gun deaths” are homicides. Did you know 65,773 people died by unintentional poisoning in 2019?

The Self-Evident Truths That Gabby Giffords Ignores in Order to Push Her Civilian Disarmament Agenda
Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, who heads up the gun control group bearing her name, is spinning tales and vilifying the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to advance President Joe Biden’s shared gun grab visions.
Giffords penned an op-ed in The Philadelphia Inquirer calling for nationwide universal background checks on all firearm transfers. She claims this is what America needs but couldn’t be more wrong. America doesn’t need more background checks.

NYPD Will Transition Away From the 12-Pound Trigger Duty Guns They’ve Been Using for a Century
The New York Police Department, in its infinite wisdom, has issued the boys in blue GLOCK, SIG and other handguns with a 12-pound trigger pull for the last century or so. The “reasoning” for that making the trigger pull so heavy cuts down on negligent discharges.
Apparently adequately training the boys in blue never occurred to anyone at the NYPD.
The problem with a 12-pound trigger, of course, is it also makes shooting accurately much more difficult.

“’It’s actually scary. It was just an ordinary day. And that happens?’ said…movie-goer, Mary Jane Gonzalez. ” Yes, well assaults, robberies, rapes and murders happen every day in this country and in others around the world. The difference is, citizens here have the right to keep and bear arms.
Ms. Gozalez was reacting to news of a shooting that stopped an attempted armed robbery on Monday night near a theater in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district.
Vice News’ Keegan Hamilton Learns Some Truths About Guns
This Vice video report by Keegan Hamilton on so-called ghost guns and the 3D printing revolution that’s making building your own firearm increasingly accessible to more people is well worth the 30 minutes it will take you to watch it.
As part of his report, Hamilton attended the Gun Maker’s Match held in June in St. Augustine, Florida. He also printed his own GLOCK 19 frame and built a pistol to shoot in the competition (with a lot of help from Rob Pincus).

In a 50/50 Country, Don’t Expect Gun Owners to Comply With Any New Gun Control Laws
[T]rying to compel compliance by belatedly imposing registration requirements is also a losing bet. Gun policy is a divisive issue and people know that some politicians want to outlaw and even confiscate what is currently legal; they don’t seem inclined to make that goal easy to achieve. When Connecticut required owners of so-called “assault weapons” (really, semi-automatic rifles with a military appearance) to register their property with the state, it achieved all of 15 percent compliance; compliance in New York with a similar rule topped out at 5 percent.

Gear Review: Leupold Mark 3HD 1.5-4×20 Scope With Illuminated FireDot BDC Reticle
The increased popularity of low power variable optics is largely due to the fact that they handle so many jobs so well for so many people. While LPVOs are available with maximum magnifications as high as 8X, a quality 3X low power scope — especially one with an illuminated center dot — can act as a stand-in for a red dot, be a great 3-gun scope, or be a very effective hunting optic out to 300 yards or more.
A Little Pain, a Lot of Gain: Force-on-Force Personal Defense Training for Civilians
It’s not every day that you get a chance to practice self-defense tactics against opponents who actually shoot back, especially as a civilian. If you get the chance to do it through force-on-force training, grab it. I’ve been training everyday people how to use firearms safely and effectively for nearly twenty years now. I’ve taken coursework for even longer.
I’ve been through dozens of schools and classes in my time. The force-on-force coursework I’ve completed has consistently proven among the most useful, enjoyable – and easily most memorable.
New York’s New Governor Kathy Hochul’s Stance on Guns Has ‘Evolved’ Over the Years
Her subsequent, publicly leftward shift reflects the political necessity of running for statewide office, where the median voter is far to the left of that in Hochul’s former congressional district.
That shift included a vastly different stance on guns.
During her 2014 campaign for Lieutenant Governor, Hochul called the failure of Congress to pass background check legislation a “disgrace” following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut that left 20 children dead.

How Much Would You Pay for Al Capone’s ‘Favorite’ .45 Colt 1911?
Alphonse Capone, who fancied himself something of a Robin Hood figure while running the Chicago Outfit, spent eight years of an 11-year tax evasion sentence behind bars. He was released when his advanced syphilis became debilitating and died in 1947. Not exactly the blaze of glory end most people expect for notorious mobsters.
His granddaughters — who describe Grandpa Al as “a very devoted family man, very committed to his family,” have amassed an impressive collection of his belongings, as well as those of Al’s son, Sonny (who was not, in fact, shot on the causeway).

South Carolina Home Invader Shot and Killed by Homeowner After Kicking In a Back Door
Personal defense trainers teach their students to aim for center mass when firing on an attacker. It’s a large target — that makes it easier to hit when you’re moving, the attacker is moving, and you’re shooting under stress — and happens to be where the body’s vital organs are located.
Aiming for center mass also gives you some room for error. That may have been what happened Saturday night when a South Carolina homeowner confronted a home invader.
Gear Review: Crimson Trace Lasersaddle LS-250G
I thoroughly enjoy my Mossberg Shockwave, but shooting it “from the hip” is fraught with danger when it comes to using it for personal defense. Initially, I mounted a Crimson Trace laser ahead of the foregrip. While that didn’t work out well, I recently took the plunge on a Crimson Trace Lasersaddle LS-250G. It gets two thumbs up along with a big grin for me, and if you have a Shockwave it can do the same for you.
