The Truth About Guns

BREAKING: Opposition to Banning Handgun Ownership Remains at Record-High 74%
“Nearly a year after the Newtown, Conn., school shootings spawned considerable U.S. debate about passing stricter gun control laws, almost half of Americans believe the laws covering the sale of firearms should be strengthened and half say they should stay the same or be less strict,” gallup.com asserts, summarizing data from its most recent gun control survey. Well, that’s their takeaway. Mine’s different. I mean who says no, I don’t want gun control laws strengthened when the nature of those changes are left unspecified? The good news: “Public support for stricter gun laws is down from 58% in the days after the December 2012 Newtown shootings.” Even
How SIG SAUER’s MCX Killed the Honey Badger
Early last year, Advanced Armament made a splash unveiling their Honey Badger PDW. It was a thing of beauty; a custom-designed .300 AAC Blackout rifle that’s no bigger than an MP5SD and with looks that could kill. But as the year wore on, the Honey Badger ran into some trouble. Now, with the unveiling of SIG SAUER’s MCX line, even Kevin Brittingham (the man who originally designed the Honey Badger) admits that his beloved creation has been bested by SIG’s engineers .

Manchester UK Police Jump the [3D] Gun
by Alan Brooks
In what could turn out to be a major embarrassment for the Greater Manchester Police, a man arrested yesterday on suspicion of illegally manufacturing gun powder also had what police suspect to be 3D-printed components for a firearm… or not. According to the BBC, Manchester’s finest raided the home as part of a larger operation targeting organized crime and stumbled upon the mystery parts by accident. Manchester Police spokesman Detective Inspector Mossop had this to say . . .
“If what we have seized is proven to be viable components capable of constructing a genuine f

The Moms who are Demanding some sort of Action will be holding a rally (if you can call 10 people a rally) on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver this Saturday, 10/26, from 10-10:30 a.m. In response, Gun Rights Across America – Colorado will be holding a counter-event nearby. Now Tell Me That Birdshot is OK for Home Defense
I journeyed to Best of the West the other day to test out a Lone Star Arms-modified Saiga 12 shotgun. The VEPR shot Wally World number 6 birdshot like a champ. It did not, however, like Federal 00 buckshot. Well, the gun did. The magazines most decidedly did
Colorado Pro-2A Voters Set Sights on Another Democrat, and Dems Fear They’ll Succeed
The news coming out of Colorado lately has given me a little more faith in the democratic process. Earlier this year, two Colorado state senators were kicked out of office for their votes against their constituents’ rights and their vocal belief in ignoring the voices of their constituents in what was one of the most embarrassing defeats for the gun control movement in recent memory. Despite the Dems and pro-gun control groups spending around 10 times as much as the NRA, they lost. And from the looks of things, the Democrats are scared out of their minds that it might happen again. So much so they’re prepared to pull the plug on the embattled senator currently being targeted . . .
In Colorado, if a recall is successful, there are two options.

CA Police Shoot 13-Year-Old Holding Airsoft AK. And?
Regular readers know I adopt a guilty until proven innocent approach to police misconduct. In case you didn’t catch it, I am deeply suspicious of the boys in blue. But when the TTAG telegraph lit-up on the story of the 13-year-old California lad killed by cops after brandishing an Airsoft AK-47 I thought I’d let it sit. According to the reports I’d read, the cops ordered Andy Lopez to drop the weapon. Twice . . .
Lopez turned and aimed the gun in their direction. So they shot him. Unless this account is proven false, it’s a righteous shoot. Sorry but there it is. If you aim a gun at a cop something
OMG! Gun Sales! On Instagram! OMG!
Pascal writes:
A story circulated on Wednesday about Instagram subscribers who are using the service to sell their guns. The Daily Beast attests that the practice is “mostly legal,” and while Instagram community regulation is unusually tight, the gun sales will likely be allowed to stand even while less serious activity is banned. As the The Daily Beast reports, users are snapping photos of their arms and using tag combinations to flag them for buyers, such as #glock #forsale. Users then negotiate in the comments or trade contact information to firm up the deal. It’s worth noting that online gun sales are not at all illegal, and selling to someone wi
Incendiary Image of the Day (Take 2): “If They Can Make Up Stats So Can We” Edition
And once again a TTAG reader has taken it upon himself to fight fire with fire. “If they can make up their own statistics,” Chip K writes, referring to the unattributed anti-gun agit-prop propagated by Demand Action to End Gun Violence, “then there is no reason I can’t do the same.” Ah but—readers familiar with Foucault’s Pendulum will
Breaking: “Incident” Reported Near Millington Navy Base, 2 Reported Shot
The U.S. Navy’s twitter account is reporting that there has been an “incident” near their naval facility in Millington. Others are reporting that two people have been shot though no word on their condition. While we wait for more details, we here at TTAG would like to remind you readers that military bases in the United States as technically “gun free” zones, as cocnealed carry is illegal and firearms are not issued to members of the military who are not on guard duty. Even then, there’s never a round in the chamber.
Americans for Irresponsible Disarmament Wave the Bloody Ensign
I know that headline’s a little Inside Baseball but I reckon The People of the Gun should never miss an opportunity to denigrate those who would denigrate their natural, civil and Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. To be clear, Mark Kelly is point man for Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control organization with a name that the Nazis would love.
Night Vision Primer
Night Vision technology has been around since the latter part of World War II. Both German and American forces employed primitive night vision devices that used a powerful infrared (IR) light source and an anode/photocathode rig that was IR sensitive. Early units were large tank-mounted systems, but as the war drew to a close, man-portable technologies started to appear. These old active IR systems came to be known as Generation 0 devices. During the Vietnam War, the first passive Night Vision Devices (NVD) came into use. Passive systems solved a huge problem posed by the active system – namely that it was possible to see an active IR source from a long way away if you had a night vision sensitive device. Think of it like a man walking through dark woods with a flashlight – if you are standing in the woods as well, you can see the approaching flashlight long before its holder can see you . . .
Generation 1 units were completely passive. They simply magnified the ambient light 1000x. Th
Question of the Day: Do Your Guns Have Names?
If you don’t like waffling, skip to 4:20. That’s when itsAriJustAri confesses a love that dare not speak its name (in liberal enclaves). “I can’t even talk and breathe at the same time and explain how much I love Glock.” After her paean to “Jedediah,” itsAriJustAri moves on to roller blades. But not before filling us with hope and confidence that OFWGs (Old Fat White Guys) aren’t the once and future protectors of American gun rights. So . . . do you name your guns? Really?
Gear Review: Spartan Products’ Spartan Tactical Target
Tannerite targets are exciting, but you can only use them once. Paper targets are boring…useful, but boring. Sure they’ll tell you where your rounds hit after you look through a spotting scope or walk down range. Then, if you want a clean target, you have to wait for a range officer to announce the range is cold and trudge down with your staple gun and a fresh piece of paper. It’s not awful, but not optimal for recruiting new shooters. If you’re like me and shoot 3-gun or anything other than NRA high power, you want to know immediately if you hit something without having to stop and inspect your target. Salute Products’ Spartan Tactical steel target gives you the opportunity to improve shooting speed, accuracy, and efficiency with both visual and audible indicators . . .
The Spartan Tactical is a man-size steel reactive target that bre
MD State Troopers: They Shoot Deer Don’t They?
Maryland State Police announced additional deer hunting training for SWAT teams. JK. But not by much. “Frederick County’s farmers have embraced a suggestion from state troopers that helps them reduce their deer population, but any landowner can take advantage of the offer,” officer.com reports. The program links “a trooper who wants to hunt” with “a farmer who wants to have deer hunted on their farm.” Why cops? Bribery! JK. But not by much. Frederick County Farm Bureau President Charles Brault says the program’s for f
