Re-Thinking the Modern Rifle
Howard’s recent article about the M16A4 and its numerous disadvantages sparked a firestorm of discussion and criticism. I utilize rifles in all my shooting and have a few M16A2 style clunkers myself…but I am here to offer some discussion on the future of the rifle length platform and who can take advantage of it. So […]
Considerations in Purchasing a Safe
Article submitted by guest writer Mitchell Wakehurst How safe is your safe? Humans instinctively feel the need to safeguard everything he holds dear from loss, theft and damage. In response to these security needs, most homes and business establishments are equipped with strong safes and vaults to protect cash, jewelry, and other valuables from […]
Stuff I Like From 2014
Magpul MS1 slings: The MS1 got rid of my complaints about Magpul slings (unwanted single point hardware & open loop adjuster) and combined it with a smooth sliding adjuster, a soft and non binding nylon strap, and a reasonable price. It has become my preferred sling. http://looserounds.com/2014/11/26/magpul-ms1-sling/ Colt 6720: I won’t spend too much […]
Brian’s Best and Worst Products 2014
Sierra match kings 69 grain bullets: Its nice having a favorite loading based around this product as I found it easier to find than the 77grain ammo during the scare and it was plenty accurate to help me learn the ins and outs of shooting to 600 yards. Its not a new product by any […]
Duncan’s Best of 2014
Here are a few of my favorite products of 2014. They are in no particular order. M&P Shield, without safety: After the first of the year disappointment in the G42 being a .380, the new M&P Shield stepped in to fill the single stack 9mm role everyone was wanting. Smith & Wesson quickly capitalized by […]
The Big Lie About Wanat (COP Kahler), Part 2 of 2
Part 2 of the debunking of the absurd myth that the M4 has caused the death of US military people due to failures. Once again this is the sole work of the writer from http://www.weaponsman.com, THE technical website on all things military weapons related, among other topics. We again highly recommend all follow them. Part […]

Armed Citizen Stops Potential Lethal Attack without Shooting… Should he have gotten involved?
Article Shared with permission of Rob PIncus . When I’m scheduled to be a guest on Armed American Radio and don’t have anything in particular to talk about, Mark Walters often sends me links to current event type stories that he’d like to discuss or get my opinion on. Late yesterday afternoon, he did just […]
ATF Changes Opinion on Legality of SIG Brace Fired From Shoulder Apparently
Looks like due to high profile use and constant questions by users. The ATF has changes its mind/policy/ whatever, on the legal use of the popular SIG brace for AR15 pistols. Ostensibly for use by putting your firing arm through the “brace” to more easily hold the AR pistols with one hand. Many […]
Keyholes and cloverleafs
One of the above pictures show a keyhole, another one shows a cloverleaf. While I was in the Marine Corps, the terminology had at some point gotten mixed up. Our instructors in boot camp would call cloverleafs keyholes. I forgot about that till much later. About two years later, one of my peers, was reading […]
Old And Nostalgic Can Still Be Good And Useful
I am not exactly a collector of WW2 gear, but being a devoted worshiper of the Colt M1911, I have always had a love for the old nostalgic web belt, brown leather holster and accessories that came with the issuance of the 199 during the war. the belt was set up with what you needed […]
Colt Lightweight AR6720 Carbine
This is my (very short) opinion on the Colt AR6720 Lightweight LE Carbine. I constantly have people asking my opinion of what basic AR type rifle is best for them, to use for home defense and/or duty or patrol rifle use. ” Should I get a Colt M4 (LE6920/LR6940) or equivalent M4 type carbine. Many […]

A few thoughts on the M16A4.
The FN M16A4 I carried in Iraq. When I enlisted in the USMC I was issued a M16A2. Other then when we occasionally added a PEQ-2 IR laser, a flashlight, or the issued M203 grenade launcher, we felt this gun did everything we needed it to do. We didn’t know about things like quad rails […]
Trijicon SRS lens glare/reflection
A common complaint about the Trijicon SRS is a reflection of the circuitry that appears when the optic is turned towards the sun. We experienced this on a recent range trip and snapped a photo to give everyone an idea of what users are talking about when they reference the issue. Very distracting and quite […]

AK-12 Video
This video shows an a feature of the AK-12 that is rather nifty. A bolt release has been integrated right next to the magazine catch. It looks far quicker and handier then most bolt catch arrangements that have been put on AKs.Filed under: Scattered Shots Tagged: AK, Video
