It’s hard to believe this story is taking place in this country.  In our country.   A Nevada rancher is having his cattle and open public land seized by the federal government.   The feds are saying that Rancher Cliven Bundy can no longer use the public land for his cattle because of  the endangered desert tortoise and there has been a standoff over this land that has been getting more heated every day.

Bundy vowed to do “whatever it takes” and has not ruled out a range war over this issue.

If you’re a reader of Guns ‘n’ Freedom you know that we aren’t big fans of smart gun technology.  Mainly because it doesn’t work, but also because in a life or death situation you don’t need another variable to be the cause of your gun not functioning properly.

While testifying before a House appropriations subcommittee a few days ago, Attorney General Eric Holder said he met with “gun expert” Joe Biden and they discussed some ideas on smart gun technology.

Holder’s brilliant plan was to spend $2 million on things like gun bracelets that only allow the wearer to fire the gun, if and when the technology doesn’t malfunction that is.

Anti-gunners are always trying to sidestep that pesky word “confiscation” and tell us that no one is really talking about taking our guns.  Well hopefully none of our dear readers are still believing that delusional fantasy.

It has just been revealed that New York’s recent gun control law called the SAFE Act actually permits the confiscation of guns without a court order or warrant.

The SAFE Act is facing all kinds of law suits right now, after it was pushed through the state’s legislature before any freedom loving New Yorker had a chance to stop it.

But according to Freebeacon.com, one lawsuit is claiming that the law allows guns to be seized without warrant or review.

No one wants to see a child get hurt or killed because he/she was playing with a gun that a parent did not secure.  And if the video below was simply a service announcement to remind parents to teach gun proper gun safety I would be all for it.

But this cartoon is not trying to teach gun safety.  It’s trying to push gun control.  One thing the cartoon below fails to point out is that responsible gun owners do not allow their guns to be accessed where such a thing can happen.

Under the pretense of doing something that can save children’s lives, the whole point of this video is to send viewers to a petition that calls for “tougher safe storage laws and other programs that work to keep children safe from guns.”

Are you ready for it?  Another wave of gun control is about to hit our shores.

We all knew this was coming after the Fort Hood shootings last week, and even though this tragedy was another case of gun control CAUSING the gun violence rather than stopping it, our dear president apparently doesn’t know that.

So President Obama’s big idea is to control more guns and make even more people defenseless.  According to reports from Fox News, Obama is requesting $1.1 billion for more gun control, and that’s in addition to the $382 million that the DOJ is requesting just to infringe on 2nd amendment rights

Texas Congressman Steve Stockman is tired of seeing unarmed military members being gunned down in this country, and he has introduced a bill to put an end to it.

Stockman’s bill would allow military personnel to carry firearms on US military bases and would officially end the 20 year ban on guns which has only made our military vulnerable to horrendous attacks.

The ATF’s battle against gun owners and gun shops has extended to gun manufacturers as well.  Now the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is being sued by Sig Sauer for classifying the gun maker’s muzzle brake as a silencer.

Remember it wasn’t long ago that the ATF raided a California gun shop and ignored a restraining order against them to do it.  They’re not exactly known for their respect for the law or the constitution.

The problem for the ATF is that the thing they classified as a silencer does not silence or even muffle because that is not what it was made to do.  Sig Sauer’s muzzle brake is intended to “effectively reduces recoil and muzzle rise when a shot is discharged”.

First Lieutenant Patrick Cook wrote a heart-wrenching letter on Facebook and it deserves to be read.   Not only does he describe what happened and how he tried to save his fellow soldiers, but he asks for his God-given right to be armed.

One person is in custody after the suspect went on a stabbing rampage at a Pennsylvania high school just outside of Pittsburgh.  And a school board director is already exploiting the situation by saying she is glad that at least it was not a gun.

According to Fox News,

“Nobody’s ever prepared for something like that as a parent,” Matt Provenzo told FoxNews.com of dropping his son, Mark, off at the Franklin Regional High School. “As he got out of the car, you could see students exiting the building and that the fire alarm was pulled … There were a few students who were visibly upset.”

We just reported yesterday that many New Yorkers are refusing to comply with the unconstitutional SAFE Act that was pushed through the legislature last year.  Now we are seeing reports that as many as 90% or more may have failed or outright refused to register their so called “assault weapons” with the state.

Of course these are not assault weapons but semi-automatic rifles that millions of New Yorkers own.  And they, by the way, have not killed anyone.

The April 15th deadline is drawing closer and not only have many NY law enforcement officials declared that they will not enforce the gun control law, bearingarms.com has found that very few have even bothered to register their guns with the state.

If you only hear one testimony about the Fort Hood shootings let this be the one.  CJ Grisham tells it like it is, and as an active duty Master Sgt. in the US Army stationed at Fort Hood he actually understands how the “gun free zone” of this military base led to this horrible tragedy.

There are so many great points brought up by Grisham I can’t list them all here, but one that stood out was:

“Soldiers aren’t trained to run away from gun fire.  We are trained to run TOWARDS gun fire.  It is a shame when the very people who are trained to take out an armed attacker aren’t able to take out an armed attacker.”

Indiana mayor brainwashing school kids

Statistics are not on the side of gun control advocates, but more and more we are seeing schools use the education system to push an anti-gun agenda.  We already know they have tried to pollute the meaning of the 2nd amendment and now it looks like they want to brainwash kids into thinking that only bad people own guns.

This entire incident looks so staged it’s not even funny.  You see Muncie, Indiana mayor Dennis Tyler reading a letter from a student that says he is afraid of guns.  This gives the mayor –who also happens to be a member of the anti-gun group Mayors Against Illegal Guns — a perfect opportunity to exploit the children.

I never get tired of these stories that the anti-gunners say never happen.  Glad at least someone doesn’t have their head stuck in the sand.

An 83-year-old man in Huntsville, Alabama had to fend off an intruder in the middle of the night last weekend.  But it wasn’t calling 911 that stopped the intruder; it was the elderly man’s trusty firearm.

According to the police report, a man in a hoodie came to the homeowner’s door at 12:30am on Saturday.   The unwelcome intruder told the man that he needed help, but when the resident went to call 911 the intruder kicked in the glass door to force his way inside.

That’s when the 83-year-old made the decision to put down the phone and grab his handgun.   Firing a single shot the man said he shot the intruder once in the chest.  The wounded man dove out of the house and ran away.

The homeowner was not injured in the incident and is not expected to face any charges for defending his life and property.

April 15th is not just a tax day for many New Yorkers.  It is also the day that any gun owners in possession of a semi-automatic rifle (falsely called assault weapons by NY) will have to register their guns with the state in accordance with the SAFE Act.

But already there are many saying that this deadline will be completely disregarded and that the SAFE Act is unconstitutional and needs to be repealed.

Registration is equal to confiscation.  How so?  Under the SAFE Act law, after a semi-automatic rifle is registered with the state it cannot be transferred to a family member.  It can only be turned into the police or out of state to another state where the gun is legal.

This means that after the owner of the gun dies the gun is essentially confiscated and any monetary value of the firearm is lost.  The firearm cannot be passed down to a family member or given to family as part of an inheritance.   If that’s not confiscation I don’t know what is.

When one family member in this home in Florida saw an intruder trying to break-in through the back door at least 3 of the family members armed themselves in defense of their home.

It was 7:00 am when one of the members of the Pena family heard the sound of the intruder trying to break into their Florida home in Winter Haven.

After the 3 family members grabbed their guns one of them then fired a warning shot to try to scare off the intruder, but the 40-year-old male continued to gain entry to the home.

That’s when at least 2 of the armed Pena family members opened fire on the intruder in the kitchen, killing him on the scene.

The identity of the intruder has not been released yet since his family will have to be notified of what happened, but police are saying that he has a previous arrest record including cases of domestic violence.

Why we would continue to disarm our military while here at home when they bravely fight for freedom over seas is beyond me.  Fort Hood was turned into a combat zone because of a single shooter and those brave soldiers had no weapons to defend themselves.

Instead they had to wait 15 minutes — an eternity in an active shooter situation — for military police to arrive and confront the shooter who then took his own life.

Now a mother of one of the soldiers at Fort Hood is speaking out against the policy that takes away the rights of soldiers to defend themselves.

In another attempt to go after gun owners under the guise of “gun safety” Attorney General Eric Holder came out and sad the DOJ wants to explore some options that use technology to force gun control onto American citizens.

We often hear gun control activists say that only the police and military should have guns and no one else has the proper training to own and use a firearm.  But then you have commanders like this that think that US soldiers who have some of the best firearms training in the world should not even be allowed to be armed.

It should make even the most ignorant among us sit up and take notice that maybe this gun control thing is  about disarming all American citizens after all.

The commander in this video loses his head for a few moments when gun expert John Lott tries to correct him on his hyberbolized comments.

Lott was absolutely correct when he pointed out that the Fort Hood shooter had no opposition for 15 minutes because none of the soldiers (who were all trained in firearms) he faced actually had a firearm because of gun control laws that disarmed them.

The anti-gun hysteria in our schools is only getting worse as another student has been suspended for a ridiculous reason.  Add this story to the growing list of schools overreacting to kids being kids under the “zero tolerance policy”.  Does anyone really think this is making our schools safer?

A 13-year-old was attending math class in the New Jersey school when a student behind him said he was twirling his pencil in a gun like motion.  “Send him to juvie,” the student yelled out.

Apparently the student had been bullying the pencil twirling boy earlier in the day.

The suspended student has already served at least a 2 day suspension after going through a 5 hour physical and psychological evaluation.

Even though I would rather see New York’s gun laws reversed and New York gun owners fighting to keep their 2nd amendment rights, it still makes me smile to think of Michael Bloomberg going crazy over the newly compliant AR-15 rifle designs.

Missouri company, Black Rain Ordnance, has unveiled an AR-15 and AR-10 style rifle that include a fixed stock, no pistol grip, gas block without restricted bayonet lug, non-threaded muzzle and a 10-round low capacity approved magazine.

The rifles have a quirky design that make them perfectly legal in the state of New York, even after Mayor Cuomo did everything he could to make sure rifles like this would never be found in the hands of law abiding citizens in his state.
