New Explosive Materials To Bring Nontoxic Ammunition
Every time a gun fires, lead leaches into the air. A scientific advancement could provide a comparable replacement for lead-based explosive materials found in ammunition, protecting soldiers and the environment from potential toxic effects.
Purdue University researchers, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Army Research Laboratory, developed two new lead-free materials that function as primary explosives, which are used to ignite powder inside a gun cartridge.
The work, funded by the Army Research Office, appears in a paper published in Chemistry – A European Journal.

Remington In Talks For Acquisition By Navajo Nation
Salient points:
- Civilian AR-15’s: out
- Hunting rifle focus
- “Smart” gun focus
Navajo Nation will acquire Remington after filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time. The tribe offered to buy the company in 2018 when the company declared bankruptcy for the first time. However, the offer did not materialize as the company sought other means of survival such as cost-cutting measures. Some of the creditors such as Franklin Templeton Investments and JPMorgan Asset Management took ownership of the company and Remington managed to reduce debt by $775 million.

300% Spike In Gun Buy Checks, Huge Backlogs, Shutdown Threatened
Fears of a crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic have resulted in a historic spike in gun purchase background checks, leading to long delays in approval, according to the FBI and gun industry experts.
What’s more, there is a potential that offices in charge of conducting the background checks could shut down, effectively stopping sales.

Demand for Ammo is Spiking Due to COVID-19 Fears
The folks at Ammo.com just released a data study on the ammo run due to the coronavirus
As you might’ve heard, gun and ammo sales are through the roof right now, partially due to the 24/7 news coverage of the COVID-19 virus.
Internally we’ve seen ammo sales spike 276% across the board, with some states (seemingly the ones most affected by the virus) increasing more than 1000% from just a few weeks ago.
Caliber-wise, 40 Cal (S&W) sales are up the most which seems odd to me but as AWR Hawkins at Breitbart surmised it may be due to Asian-Americans increased concerns for safety.
