The Truth About Guns
Florida Schools May Soon Be Safe for Pop Tarts
Good news toaster pastry fans! If you live in the Sunshine State, you may soon be able to toss a Pop Tart in your kid’s lunch bag without worrying that the little shaver will bite it into the shape of a 1911 and get himself tossed from school. In a blow for common sense and against mindless zero tolerance policies, Emily Miller reports that Florida’s senate is considering what’s being called the “Pop Tart bill” that expressly allows kids to craft their food or fingers into the shape of a firearm. Drawing pictures of revolvers and rifles will be OK, too. The bill passed the Florida House 98-17 and Governor Rick Scott’s spokesnoid issued this carefully-worded statement: “The governor supports the Second Amendment and our state’s self-defense law and will review any bill that comes to his de
Henry Repeating Arms Donates Serial #1 and Henry from 1865 to NRA Auction
BAYONNE, NJ – Henry Repeating Arms has donated a legendary Henry lever-action rifle from 1865 and serial number one of their new Original Henry rifle line to be auctioned together at the National NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction on Thursday, April 24 in Indianapolis. The auction will benefit The NRA Foundation, America’s leading charitable organization in support of the organizations and programs that ensure the legacy of hunting and the shooting sports. It will kick off the 2014 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits.
The two-gun set includes the well-worn Model 1860 Henry, serial number 8261 manufactured in 1865, used to reverse-engineer Benjamin Tyler Henry’s classic design and develop the tooling for the new Original Henry Rifle line. Completing the pair is the Original Henry Deluxe Engraved serial number BTH0001, the first Henry produced in nearly 150
The Never-Empty Double Gun…lolwut?
One of my friends recently stumbled across this website, where the proprietors are looking to introduce a unique and interesting new firearm — a double-GLOCK SBR. The patent pending concept is to shove two plastic wunderguns into the same housing so that if one gun runs dry, you still have a second one at your disposal while you reload the first. I suppose there could be some utility there, but all I could think of was . . .
I do have one question, though.<
Norfolk Navy Shooter Disarmed Guard to Get Gun
Perhaps the security at US naval bases could use some beefing up. Despite the fact that the AP reports the Navy held “anti-terrorism and force protection exercises” at its US bases just last month, an as yet un-named civilian gained access to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, “approached a destroyer docked at the world’s largest naval base late Monday, disarmed a petty officer on watch and fatally shot a sailor” on board the guided missile destroyer USS Mahan. The attacker was then shot dead by security guards . . .
The report at yahoo.com is a little murky as to whether or how the gunman was authorized to

Question of the Day: What’s Your Local Gun Store Like?
My local gun store [LGS ] is Sportsman’s Finest. The Farago-friendly firearms emporium caters to a high-end clientele. It’s not the place to go looking for a bargain or bulk ammo. The staff knows its guns. They can talk you through an excellent selection of new handguns, shotguns and rifles. Bonus! You don’t have to listen to a bunch of OWFG’s decrying Obama and condescending to the fairer sex. What’s your LGS like? Name names and don’t hold back.
Gun Review: CMMG Mk4 3GR
It seems like all of the major firearms manufacturers these days are going after the 3-gun market. And that’s great, since the sport is absolutely booming and the only serious manufacturers making things for 3-gun have been Noveske, Sampson Mfg and Lancer. But this year at SHOT, a handful of big-name manufacturers decided to take a shot at making a 3-gun rifle, and CMMG’s MK4 3GR was among those whose guns looked the nicest . . .
There are three things you want in a 3-gun rifle. First and foremost, it needs to be accurate. Second, it needs to be fast. And third, it needs to look really, really pretty. On paper CMMG’s rifle hits the mark on each and every requirement, but in the field there are some rough spots.
RI State Senator Josh Miller to 2A Supporter: Go F*ck Yourself
Rhode Island’s recent slate of gun control measures – including a bill to ban all semi-automatic firearms – has been condemned to development hell (i.e. they remain in Committee until such time as they don’t). Before the bills stalled, anti-gun control forces rallied at the State House. During one such event, Truth Radio host Dan Bidondi confronted RI State Senator Josh Miller. I’ve included the full clip (not magazine) of the “go f*ck yourself” comment because a little context helps. Truth be told, Bidondi never met a government conspiracy he didn’t like. I mean hate. And he looks more like a bouncer than most bouncers. And to be fair, gun rights guys are joining Josh in the gutter. Still, really?
Richard Mack to Vt. LEOs: Don’t Enforce Burlington Gun Laws
“The head of a nationwide sheriffs coalition is calling on Vermont’s law enforcement officers to defy three controversial gun control measures passed by Burlington voters three weeks ago,” foxnews.com reports. “‘Sheriffs have a constitutional duty to refuse to comply with such ordinances,’ said Richard Mack, president of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association. ‘We’re seeing sheriffs in New York oppose the Safe Act and Gov. Cuomo. If we have sheriffs in New York doing this, how much more should we have sheriffs doing it in Vermont?’” Plenty? TTAG talked to Mr. Mack about the situation in Connecticut. First a little background on the Vermont kerfuffle . . .
Quote of the Day: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff Edition
“If fear, doubt and hesitation has been bred into you then being armed is probably not going to help you at all.” – Tactical Response Trainer Jay Gibson
Daily Digest: One Ragged Hole Edition
When you’re headed to get on a plane, carrying a gun in your luggage is never a good idea. But exactly how bad an idea it is can really depend on where you do it. The Orlando Sentinel reviewed arrest policies and 2013 arrest records for 15 airports, and found that if you’re caught with a gun in Orlando, Dallas, Chicago, or Atlanta, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be arrested. However, if it’s in Jacksonville, Phoenix, or Denver, it’s equally likely that you’ll walk free. The difference in outcomes is because arrest and prosecution is up to the local law enforcement agencies or state’s attorneys. At Orlando International, 42 of 47 gun-toters were arrested, while at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, only 9 of 45 were. In another contrast to OI
NM Police Kill Homeless Man – Good Shoot?
Albuquque PD officers first use less lethal means to apprehend homeless illegal camper James Boyd. But the situation escalates and Boyd is shot and killed by the police officers, all of which is captured via helmet cam. Was this a good shoot?
When You Have to Go for Your Attacker’s Gun
While trying to disarm an attacker with a gun is always a dicey business, sometimes it’s the only option. But as this story from Houston’s 14news.com shows, it should never be undertaken lightly. “Henderson Police say the suspect tried to rob the victim at gunpoint, but the victim fought back and tried to get the gun. Police say the gun went off during the struggle and the victim was shot in the foot.” Of course, it’s possible that being shot in the foot was an acceptable trade-off . . .
There isn’t enough in the story to determine if that were so. The general advise is, if you’re unarmed, within five feet and believe that you are going to be shot in any case, look for your chance to disarm your attacker. Practice is very much advised. If you think that all he wants is money, most would judge that trying to disarm the guy holding a gun on you isn’t worth the risk.
Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day: Kenny Woodburn
It’s possible that the dog called “Tank” charged Kenny Woodburn [above], who shot the canine in self-defense. It does not, however, seem likely. “A Maryland man shot dead his neighbor’s dog after it wandered on to his property, and then posted a picture of its body on Facebook,” dailymail.co.uk reports. “Before killing the one-year-old dog, named Tank, Kenny Woodburn had posted a warning on social media saying if it strayed in his yard again it would die.” Specifically, “Hey going to dye today.” The spelling mistakes d
Bill Maher: “Common Sense Gun Safety” is Bullsh*t
Finally, we agree on something! Left-leaning comedian Bill Maher tells it like it is regarding the Progressive Caucus’ call for “common sense gun safety.” Even better, he “outs” Democrat congressman Keith Ellison as an irreconcilable gun grabber by daring Ellison to agree that the Democrat party should “come out against the Second Amendment.” Which he does. (4:19) And then attempts . . .
to walk it back by supporting a package of incremental gun control laws that would lead to an all-out ban. Or nearasdammit.
Of course, Maher is all in, publicly voicing his support for all-guns-barred civilian disarmament on a regular basis. In fact, it’s kinda funny to watch the two men arguing about process and spin rather than substance or genuine safety. Well it would be funny if they were doing so in the unemployment line. Or whatever chat room passes for such these days. Just sayin’ . . .
The Most Condescending Anti-Gun New York Daily News Story Ever…Until the Next One
Gun worshiper wins semiautomatic weapon at church raffle in upstate NY the New York Daily News proclaims. Does “Ron Stafford, 42, an avid hunter and single father of two from Schenectady” worship guns? Of course not. The Daily News’ headline writer was pandering to the paper’s disdain for Americans’ natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. To be fair, the headline’s certainly in synch with the article’s condescending not-to-say plain-old-nasty tone. Straight out of the chute, the paper’s playing cute . . .
An upstate gun nut went to chu
Which Gun Would You Grab? – SpaceGun Spectacular
Scenario: For the past several weeks people have been vanishing, only to reappear distraught and covered head to toe in strange surgical marks and scarification. They all report the same thing: alien abduction. At first, you thought they were all lying…now the television is aglow with reports of flying saucers landing around the globe. The aliens have been using their ray guns to destroy anything that gets in their way. THEY are here and nothing can stop them…except for a 12 gauge shotgun right out of Starship Troopers . . .

Gun Tweet of the Day: Resorting to the Race Card Edition
Wait, aren’t there supposed to be fewer gun owners these days? Isn’t it the approved narrative of the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex that there are only 37 old fat white guys left in the country who are buying up the millions of guns America’s firearm makers are cranking out? Maybe there are a couple of women sprinkled into that group after all. Why else would Oliver Willis of the lefty agitprop aggregator Media Matters for America feel the need to explain the existence of female firearms fans? . . .
So when in doubt – and y

Question of the Day: Got Ammo?
Ammo’s starting to appear again in most of my favorite flavors. In addition to their usual high-end, high-priced cartridges, Wilson Combat‘s recent email blast offered Remington PMC cartridges in 9mm and .223 ($15.75 and $9.50 a box), thousand-round cases of .223 ($475) and two varieties of 5.56 X 45mm ($9.95). .22LR? Our friends at ammotogo.com still ain’t got none. What’s the ammo sitch in your neck of the woods?
