The Great Equalizer

Tue, 08/18/2015 - 14:38

Even Slowpoke Rodriguez can attest to the fact that firearms allow one of smaller stature to defend themselves against a stronger and faster assailant.

Guns vs. Armor; What You Need to Protect Yourself

Mon, 08/17/2015 - 08:05

Bullet proof vests cannot completely guarantee protection against a bullet; some instead refer to them as bullet resistant vests. This is compounded by the fact that there are multiple levels of protection available in bullet proof vests, utilising different materials like Kevlar. It is important to know what types of ammunition a vest is capable of protecting you against. Below is a list of some of the most types of bullet, as well as the weapons they might be used in, and what protection you need for each.

House Advances Amendment To Sell Milsurp 1911s Through CMP

Fri, 08/14/2015 - 11:43

An add-on to the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act that passed committee includes a plan to transfer the U.S. Army’s remaining stock of .45 ACP 1911A1 pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Added as an amendment by Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Alabama, while the NDAA was in debate in the House Armed Service Committee, it could see potentially the largest remaining stock of military surplus World War II-era handguns in government hands sold to the public.

“As a gun owner and strong believer in the Second Amendment, my proposal is a common-sense approach to eliminating an unnecessary cost to the Federal government while allowing the very capable CMP to handle the sale of these vintage firearms that otherwise would just sit in storage,” Rogers said in a statement.

Concealed Carry Advice

Wed, 08/12/2015 - 14:23

In the land of just an estimated 15,000 concealed carry permits, it’s not easy to find a fellow concealed carrier in New York.

Unless they’re playing with their gun like crazy in line at the grocery store.

Wearing shorts, a white t-shirt and flip flops, this guy’s #1 concern was whether his firearm was showing or not. He literally could not stop messing with it.

His hands went up on his hips, then he slowly moves his right hand over his firearm and holster, ‘fingering’ around to make sure it’s still there and to make sure it’s not showing.

Even if I didn’t know what he was doing, I’d sure be interested in what he was doing.

Seattle Weighs ‘Violence’ Tax On Gun Owners

Mon, 08/10/2015 - 14:56

The Seattle City Council is expected to cast a final vote Monday on legislation that adds new taxes and regulations on firearms and ammunition sold in the city.

The legislation, which passed unanimously Wednesday by the Education and Governance Committee, would implement a $25 tax on firearms and a 5-cent-per-round tax on ammunition, and would force gun owners to report a lost or stolen firearm within 24 hours.

Supporters believe the tax will deter criminals from buying a gun, and tax revenue would go toward violence prevention.

The Definition Of Foolishness

Mon, 08/10/2015 - 13:52

The Honolulu Police Department and City of Honolulu recently decided it will destroy $500,000 worth of fully-functioning handguns, rather than selling them for revenue. This decision comes after the department signed a contract for new service handguns to be used by officers. By destroying these guns, the City is throwing away nearly half-a-million dollars of tax-payer money over the irrational fear that these guns will “end up on the streets of Honolulu.” This assumption appears to be in line with an anti-gun agenda. Further, the department doesn’t even trust the highly trained HPD officers to purchase their own previously used service guns back for personal use, let alone private citizens looking to exercise their constitutional rights.

Navy Responds to Reports Sailor Will Be Charged for Returning Fire Against Chattanooga Shooter

Mon, 08/03/2015 - 09:40

The U.S. Navy said no charges have been brought against the sailor who admitted to returning fire against the Chattanooga shooter, despite reports flying around that such charges are coming.

Former Republican Florida Rep. Allen West wrote in a blog post over the weekend that he was “fighting dog mad and seriously pissed off” after a source told him the U.S. Navy was bringing charges against Lt. Commander Timothy White who discharged his gun on federal property as a defensive maneuver against the Muhammad Abdulazeez last month.

The conservative commentator’s blog post from Saturday went viral on many websites, but the Navy, after fielding an onslaught of negative comments, has at least said no charges have been brought at this time.

Training Done Wrong

Fri, 07/31/2015 - 10:21

This is what a #DarwinAward looks like.

SAFETY TIP: Live ammo and laser targets don’t mix! This target was errantly double tapped and then sent to LaserLyte for repair. As a safety precaution, we suggest unloading all your live ammo into a shoe box before laser training, and stashing the box in a gun safe or up in a closet. Or, buy one of our blue guns!

Always practice safe and responsible firearm handling: keep those booger fingers off the trigger until you make sure your firearms are unloaded before laser training!

Stay safe and have a happy #friday
