ASA Changes Its Name to American Suppressor Association
The American Silencer Association is pleased to announce that we have changed our name to the American Suppressor Association. We feel that this is a necessary step to portray our industry in the most accurate light while advocating and educating the public on behalf of the suppressor industry.
The core mission of the ASA is to educate the public on the merits of suppressors. To do so, we must first dispel the widespread notion that firearm suppressors can silence their host gun. To those familiar with suppressors, the difference between the two terms is largely semantics. After all, Hiram...

Beating the Drum for the Bait Shop
The lake where I keep my boat docked was created as a water supply impoundment for the city in which I live, a local creek dammed the year I was born. The establishment of that reservoir six decades ago was responsible for my dad deciding to buy a boat instead of a set of golf clubs that spring, when the local paper announced that its pool had reached a level adequate for recreational boating and fishing. It’s also the responsible for guiding me to do what I do for a living today, writing about boats and fishing. At one time, the 3,300-acre impoundment was served by no fewer than five bait...

Video: Bulldogs Chase Black Bear out of Yard
In the video below, one bear's quest to scrounge a quick meal off a bird feeder quickly ends when it is confronted by two bulldogs. Although the black bear briefly faces down the canines, it quickly decides that it has overstayed its welcome.
http://youtu.be/XIMpSTG6FBM
Bears generally have a natural fear of dogs and even the smallest breeds can chase away a bruin many times its size. Of course, this is not always the case. Especially aggressive males or females with cubs have been known to attack dogs without provocation, and this encounter could have easily taken a nasty...
