BIG hog photos wanted

Wed, 11/11/2015 - 06:51

TF&G Editor-In-Chief Chester Moore is looking for photos of MONSTER hogs for a database he is creating and for possible inclusion in a future story here at fishgame.com.

If you have photos of dead or alive (game camera, etc.) photos of hogs you think might weigh 350 pounds or more send to cmoore@fishgame.com or send to the Texas Fish & Game Facebook page.

“Giant hogs are a fascinating topic and we are about to go into the subject deeper than anyone else. It’s going to be a fun journey and you can be a part of it,” Moore said.

The names of all who submit photos will be put into a drawing for an autographed copy of Moore’s book, “Hog Wild”.

The Natural

Tue, 11/10/2015 - 14:51

Here is my son Jackson “THE NATURAL” with his first fish at age 4. A 17″ flounder pulled out of Galveston Bay near Kemah, Texas. Caught on a small public pier with a Gulp Shrimp, 1/4 oz jig under a popping cork. As a lot of us remember our first catch he also was using a Zebco 33 classic. On a side note, this is the same face he makes when I give him chocolate.

Sh*t eatin’ grin

Tue, 11/10/2015 - 14:50

Judd at the ripe age of 12, caught this big boy of the shore in Aransas Bay. He was alone with his friend who is also 12 so needless to say it took them a while to get it out the water, about 10 minutes. 33″ and “real heavy.”

Judd caught this 49″ Black Drum, “George the Giant”, off the shore in Aransas Bay. Fortunately there were boaters boating by to give him some relief after 20 minutes of fighting him. Don’t worry he was released and is still swimming!!

“My Son’s First Deer”

Tue, 11/10/2015 - 14:48

This is a picture of my son Ryan Sanchez. He took this buck on the Henderson Ranch in Menard County. Ryan is 6 years old and has been around deer hunting since he was born. I can still remember watching the white tail shows on tv and Ryan getting his plastic rifle and trying to shoot the white tail on the television. I cannot describe how proud I am of him that he was able to actually take this buck all on his own with his little youth .243. The smile on his face was priceless and I am the proudest dad ever! He is telling the story of how he took is first buck to everyone who will listen! Love this boy!!

How Does a Suppressor Affect Velocity? [VIDEO]

Tue, 11/10/2015 - 10:13

A frequently asked question on suppressors is if they will slow down your bullet.  This is probably due to video games and antique suppressor designs that might have actually done so.  But the reality is that you get higher velocities with a suppressor.

Many hunters have at some point or another run into a deer that perplexed them. Whether you’re sitting in a treestand or moving slowly and carefully on the ground, there are few sights more heartbreaking than when a buck picks his head up, turns his ears around, and is already over the hill before you realize what happened.

Video: Homemade 12GA 1911 Fails Spectacularly

Fri, 11/06/2015 - 14:57

Every purist knows that a real 1911 is supposed to be chambered in .45 ACP, but this intrepid Thai gun smith decided to chamber one for 12 gauge shotgun rounds.  As you might have guessed the 1911 platform was never designed for shotgun rounds, and this gun may have even started off life as a pellet gun.
