Rising Texas temperatures? Up north travel in GMC Yukon Denali is perfect fit
What does a self-respecting Texan do when the heat index is in the 115 degree range? Step one for many is to rekindle relationships with family and friends who live up north. That doesn’t mean giving up on trailering a boat, fishing for some different species or living the outdoor life either.
...Bald Eagle Dive Bombs Surprised Grizzly (VIDEO)
Who would win in a fight between a grizzly bear and a bald eagle?
The bear would certainly have an overwhelming advantage when it comes to sheer brawn, but eagles have razor-sharp claws, excellent aim, and can fly. However, this hypothetical situation is rendered somewhat moot due to the fact that eagles and bears rarely get into fights…

“Largest Great White Ever Recorded” Circles Divers in New Footage

White Rhino Fights Cape Buffalo in Territorial Clash (VIDEO)
This is a true battle of titans. In one corner, you have the world’s second-largest land mammal, the intimidating white rhino, which looks like it was practically built for battle. In the other corner, you have the African Cape buffalo, an animal that is notorious for its aggression and is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous animals on its home continent—the same continent filled with lions and crocodiles…

A Saltwater Center Console Pontoon Boat? Yeah Again!!!
Last week, we took a peek at a red-hot high-performance pontoon boat that hits 60 MPH. But what about us anglers? While a lightning-fast pontoon is nifty, it doesn’t exactly fulfill our needs for hard-core fishing machines. Well, never fear. There are also lots of fishing pontoons out there. Virtually all are, as you probably know, regular pontoon boats that are fitted with extra fishing seats, some rodholders, and maybe a livewell or two. That’s great if you’re heading to the lake in search of some bass or crappie. If you like targeting reds and speckled trout in the brine, however, those fishing ‘toons are a non-starter. Well, check this puppy out:
...“Bigfoot” Sighting Recorded in North Carolina Mountains (VIDEO)
A tourist vacationing near South Carolina’s Black Mountain range claims he saw something resembling Bigfoot last Thursday, and he managed to capture the entire “encounter” on video.
Eric Walters told WBTV that he had rented a cabin off North Carolina Highway 9 last week and was enjoying a quiet stay in the woods with his wife and friends. At the time, his biggest concern was not mythical creatures, but bears.

...Great White Does Its Best Impersonation of ‘Sharknado’ (VIDEO)
This shark probably knew it looked cool.
This amazing footage was taken, fittingly, by the team of White Shark Video during a trip to Mossel Bay in South Africa. Sharks don’t usually a have a reputation for being curious, but the great whites living near Mossel Bay are actually fairly inquisitive creatures and come out often to greet ships…

Lasiognathus Dinema – What?
A new species of fish has been discovered deep in the Gulf of Mexico. Described as spiky, snaggle-toothed, the fish was discovered by scientists, Tracey Sutton of Nova Southeastern University and Theodore Pietsch from University of Washington while studying sea life at extreme ocean depths in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The species of anglerfish was discovered in water between 3,300 and 4,900 feet.
The new species, less than 4 inches long, uses a lure mounted on its head to attract prey.
Sutton said the discovery of the new species shows how little we know about life in the deep ocean. The surveyed area around the spill site was about the size of West Virginia.

Dead zone is bigger than predicted
The dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico, an area of little or no oxygen, is the 11th largest measured and nearly 18 percent bigger than predicted. The area, 6,474 square miles is as big as Connecticut and Rhode Island combined. Last year’s dead zone was about the size of Connecticut.
Federal and state scientists said the reason for the enlargement is due to heavy June rains throughout the Mississippi River watershed which carried nutrient-rich runoff from farms and other human activities into the Gulf.
Those nutrients, mainly nitrogen and phosphorus feed algae and other one-celled plants that die and fall to the bottom where their decomposition uses up oxygen
