The Truth About Guns

With Republican Sweep, Anti-Gun Dem Senator Now Wants to be Bipartisan
The implications from last week’s election results are reverberating through the halls of Congress quickly. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled How Bump Stocks and Other Conversion Devices are Amplifying the Gun Violence Epidemic, and Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) struck a noticeably different tone than his usual combative anti-Second Amendment style, seeking instead to offer to work together with Republicans in the new Congress when majority control flips sides.
“I hope to be able to work with the new incoming chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley,” said Chairman Durbin.
Best Self-Defense Tools? Um…I Don’t Know…How ‘Bout a Gun
Ok, so to start, I get that the article in question appeared in the New York Post, published in, of course New York City, where all things “guns” are strictly verboten, so a New Yorker is naturally going to get creative. But therein lies the problem: When trying to determine or write an article about the best self-defense tools available, there is clearly, one option that trumps all others. The others are nice, maybe even kinda cool.

Giving Guns as Gifts: Know the Law
With gift-buying season upon us, it’s natural for gun owners who enjoy target shooting, hunting, collecting or just plain plinking to want to share their enjoyment of firearms with others. What better way to do that than to gift a firearm to a family member, close friend or relative?
The first thing to remember if you’re thinking about giving someone a gun is that ownership of a firearm brings with it serious responsibilities and legal obligations that other consumer products don’t.

Ignorant Analysis Of Illinois AWB Ruling Proves Who The Real “Jackass” Is
Anytime a court rules in favor of Second Amendment rights, you can be sure there will be a naysayer out there somewhere convinced the judges were wrong, and the guns in question should, indeed, be banned.
Such was the case last week in Barnett v. Raoul, in which the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois found that two provisions of the Protect Illinois Communities Act (PICA), which ban many semi-automatic firearms and so-called “high-capacity” magazines, are unconstitutional under both the Second and Fourteenth Amendments.
Michigan Using Gun-Free Zones To Subvert The Right To Carry
On November 14th, the Michigan Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety passed SB 857 and SB 858 making the bills eligible for votes on the Senate floor. The pair of measures would expand “gun-free zones” in Michigan, prohibiting gun owners from carrying firearms in the State Capitol Building, the Binsfeld Senate Office Building and the Anderson House Office Building, with an exception, of course, for legislators, because “rules for thee, not for me,” and all that second-class citizen stuff.
Memphis City Leaders Just Keep Pushing Their Anti-Gun Schemes
Anti-gun city councilors in Memphis, Tennessee, just won’t let up in their continuing quest to squelch local citizens’ right to bear arms.
Back in July, the city council made an end-run around Tennessee’s firearms preemption law by trying to put a three-part gun control question on the November ballot. Despite the secretary of state’s warning that the questions violated state law, a judge ruled in September that the questions could appear on the ballot.
Why Matt Gaetz Scares Democrats More Than Trump
Last January, former U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz [R-FL-1] introduced H.R. 374. It was a short bill that became known as the “Abolish the ATF Act.”
“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is hereby abolished,” Gaetz’s bill said.
It was simple, really.
Unfortunately, it received the same response as other bills Gaetz had submitted, such as H.R. 9534, the National Constitutional Carry Act, or H.R.3142, the Stand Your Ground Act of 2023.

Canto Arms Releases the DL-44 Hero .22 Blaster
If you’re a gun guy and a Star Wars buff, then it’s just about impossible that you haven’t wanted Han Solo’s DL-44 blaster at some point or another. Since most of us don’t want to chop up an original C-96 Mauser to build one the prop gun was based on, like Jerry Miculek did, it’s good to have other options. Luckily, Canto Arms has a better solution with their new BlasTech Industries DL-44 Hero.
The DL-44 Hero
Canto Arms has been building blasters and blaster kits for a while now.

Idaho Elk Hunter Survives Grizzly Encounter
An elk hunter in Eastern Idaho is lucky to have survived a confrontation with an adult grizzly bear after he was forced to use his hunting rifle to defend his life.
The grave encounter unfolded around 3 PM on October 26 while 27-year-old Dylyn Carter hunted cow elk in a heavily timbered area north of Kilgore near Mule Meadows on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Not having much success that Saturday, Carter decided to pack it up and hike back to his truck when the grizzly appeared suddenly in quarters too close for comfort.

SilencerCo SCO-15 Ambi Receiver Set: Review
The venerable AR-15 platform has come a long ways since its inception in the mid-1950’s. While the first few decades worth of growth within the platform were driven by military necessity through the M-16, the massive sales boom following the sunset of the “assault weapons” ban in 2004 saw a huge influx of R&D dollars. While there are innumerable variations of the AR-15 now, I’d argue that only a handful of these iterative advancements have been truly transformative.

Despite Election Loss, Gun-Ban Groups Vow To Continue Fight Against Your 2A Rights
With gun owners pushing former President Donald Trump over the top in last week’s election, gun-ban organizations, still reeling from the loss, are promising to work harder than ever to force more gun control on lawful American gun owners.
With Trump winning the presidency and Republicans retaking the majority in the U.S. Senate, gun-banners, accustomed to a Democrat Senate and President Joe Biden in charge, have been put in a quandary. And if Republicans manage to keep control of the U.S.
Wyoming Duck Hunter Says Fatal Shooting Was Accident
20-year-old Gaige Zook is asking a Wyoming Judge to dismiss his case after the fatal shooting of his friend, 19-year-old Maurizio Justiniano, during a duck hunt on January 20, 2024. If tried and convicted, the single count of involuntary manslaughter is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, a felony that would also remove Zook’s gun and voting rights.
Zook, a University of Wyoming student from Pinedale with no criminal history states that the gun was fired accidentally and that he did not handle the firearm recklessly leading to his friend’s death, according to an October 16th filing by his attorney, Jason Tangeman.

Q&A: How an Illinois Legal Case Can Help the Gun Cause in California
Last week’s ruling in in FFL-IL v. Pritzker represented a significant victory for a 2A community that has fought hard over decades to protect one of the Constitution’s most fundamental rights. The ruling overturned the state’s bans on so-called “assault weapons” and on standard capacity magazines.
Bans like those imposed by Illinois, and cases challenging them, will sound familiar to California gun owners. Through cases like Duncan v. Bonta, Rhode v.
NOT GUILTY: But the Baltimore Legal System Tried in Self-Defense Case
If anyone has any doubts that their defensive actions will be questioned by law enforcement and the district attorney’s office depending on the jurisdiction they live in, look no further than the city of Baltimore. There, a security guard was charged and aggressively prosecuted for a double homicide that took place after he shot and killed two of three men who had entered the auto repair shop where he worked and shot one of his co-workers.
Here’s the story:

Software Development Goes Full Brown Shirt On 3D Printing
Software makers have solidified their place as useful idiots for the anti-Second Amendment agenda by leading the charge when it comes to the development of programs that detect gun parts being made by 3D printers, block those prints and in some cases, automatically notify the authorities. Claiming that these advances are aimed at curbing the illegal printing of firearms and firearms parts, these companies have donned their brown shirts a bit too quickly and have not the first clue regarding the tradition and constitutionality of homemade guns in America.

Trump’s To-Do List: How He Can Restore Justice in His First Days
Some Democrats still working in leadership positions at FBI, CIA, DOJ, NSA and other powerful federal agencies cannot be pleased that Donald J. Trump was reelected president. These are all behind-the-scenes players, who are not sharp enough to be known for their politics. They’re likely thinking about how they can impact or even subvert whatever orders are going to come from their new Republican leadership. In my humble opinion, they should resign – immediately – or face massive losses.
Huffington Post Inadvertently Outlines Why Gun Owners Chose Trump
Of all the liberal media wailing over last Tuesday’s win by Donald Trump in the presidential election, an analysis posted at Huffpost.com was perhaps the most interesting—mainly because while bemoaning what a Trump presidency might mean for gun control, the outlet did a good job outlining why most gun owners supported the former president.
In the piece headlined “What A Trump Win Means For Guns” and under the subhead “The election deals a major blow to the movement to reform gun laws,” author Roque Planas started by perpetuating a lie that most in the “mainstream” media use quite often.
