With the Associated Press calling the race Wednesday morning, the state’s Proposition KK is likely to pass with roughly 54 percent of Coloradans voting in favor of the measure.

Tue, 11/12/2024 - 07:00

We’ve reported multiple times over the past few years how worthless and ineffective so-called gun “buybacks” are at making any difference in violent crime rates. Of course, that doesn’t stop anti-gun city governments from continuing to perpetuate the fraud.

Now, however, Western Australia has managed to outdo all of the ridiculous American cities that hold such “buybacks.” In a hold-my-beer type of development, officials in Western Australia are holding a two-month-long gun “buyback” for dealers wanting to get rid of some of their stock.

It’s how we deal with that added stress and aggravation that can make our day get better or get much worse. For Michael Lope Montes De Oca in Hialeah, Florida, it started out bad, he made it worse, and then, it got much, much worse…like bullets to the torso worse.

Take a Vet Shooting

Mon, 11/11/2024 - 08:00

This Veterans Day, let’s take a suggestion NSSF’s Mark Olive suggested back in 2021, and let’s honor America’s veterans in a way that reflects the spirit they’ve fought to protect. Rather than just picking up the bill or raising a glass in their honor, consider something that speaks directly to their roots—a day out on the range.

Today marks Veterans Day, celebrating those who’ve served in the Armed Forces. Originally commemorated as Armistice Day, it signaled the end of World War I on Nov.

BREAKING: Illinois Gun & Magazine Ban Struck Down by Federal Judge

Fri, 11/08/2024 - 18:52

U.S. Federal Court Judge Stephen McGlynn struck down Illinois’ so-called “Protect Illinois Communities Act” gun and magazine ban Friday afternoon. The court ruled that banning America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15, and a myriad of other hot-selling guns commonly used for self-defense is unconstitutional. The ruling proved a very satisfying cap to a week that saw Donald Trump’s election and all that entails for rolling back gun control schemes nationwide.

Erring on the side of caution, Judge McGlynn stayed his permanent injunction for 30 days to allow the State of Illinois to reach out to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals for an appeal.

In April, a Pennsylvania judge ruled that 18- to 20-year-old residents could apply for concealed carry permits, and in July, the 8th Circuit Court ruled that Minnesota’s carry ban on young adults under 21 was unconstitutional.

Now, however, the tide seems to be turning. On Tuesday, the Denver-based 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in the case Rocky Mountain Gun Owners v.

A Washington man faces felony charges after shooting himself in the butt at a gas station on Nov. 3. Police caught up with the victim/suspect at a local hospital where he promptly blamed the shooting on a stranger, but authorities were already the wiser.

Officers responded to a Shell gas station in Kent around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday after reports of a man shooting himself and then fleeing the scene. Speaking with the Kent Police Department, a gas station clerk explained that the man had stopped in to gas up and was browsing items on the shelves inside the convenience store when a gun fell from his pants.

Memphis Residents Approve Illegal Gun Control Ballot Initiative

Fri, 11/08/2024 - 07:00

We reported back in late July how Memphis city officials were making an end-run around Tennessee’s firearms preemption law by trying to put a three-part gun control question on the November ballot. Despite the secretary of state’s warning that the questions violated state law, a judge ruled in September that the questions could appear on the ballot.

Fast-forward to election day, and according to a report at tennesseelookout.com, Memphis voters approved the ballot measure, which prohibits carrying a handgun without a permit, bans so-called “assault weapons” and institutes a city “red-flag” law.

San Francisco radical Kamala Harris and her leftwing ideology are done, thank God, but she’ll never be held responsible for the millions of illegal aliens she brought into the country or the crazy ideas she had about how she was going to run the government.

Tim Walz, whom Harris chose as VP, returned to his Minnesota home. No one will remember him or his penchant for fancy waves. He flew home Tuesday and did not have any events on his calendar Wednesday.

Gun Groups Challenge Maryland’s “Sensitive Places” Law in Federal Court

Thu, 11/07/2024 - 11:00

Attorneys representing the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and allied gun rights organizations have filed an appellants’ brief with the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, challenging Maryland’s restrictive “sensitive places” law. The case, Novotny v. Moore, questions the state’s limits on concealed carry in various public spaces, arguing that the restrictions violate the Second Amendment.

SAF, joined by Maryland Shall Issue, Inc., the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and three private citizens, contends that Maryland’s statute lacks historical precedent and excessively restricts concealed carry.

Reaction To Trump Landslide Runs From Elation To Devastation

Thu, 11/07/2024 - 07:00

With former president Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election and Republicans retaking the majority in the U.S. Senate (votes are still being counted in some close House races, but it’s likely they will keep that, too), the response from various groups invested in the gun control debate was quite diverse.

As expected, gun-rights groups—many of which had put lots of time, money and effort into the election—were nothing less than ecstatic at the results.
