Much Has Changed in the Last 20 Years…and Much Has Remained the Same

Sat, 09/11/2021 - 15:00

Frenzied pounding on the front door woke me; pounding, blended with shouts to turn on the television. It wasn’t even seven in the morning yet in Washington State, and I was alone because my young SAR dog was spending a night being neutered at the emergency veterinary clinic where I worked.

Head muzzy with not enough sleep, I answered the door only to have my visitor push into my living room and flip on the television himself.

9/11 And The Importance of Being Armed

Sat, 09/11/2021 - 12:00

Twenty years ago today I was riding my motorcycle to work, a little late, but almost there. My boss, Governor Rick Perry, called me along the way, and I had to pull over to get the phone out, take off my helmet, and answer him.

He asked me if I still had family in New York (I didn’t) and if I had seen the news (I hadn’t). He told me to get to the office as fast as I could.

Henry-Levy: It’s Never a Good Sign When Retired Military Members Put Themselves Back in Service

Sat, 09/11/2021 - 08:00

It is never good when, in a democracy, retired members of the military presume to put themselves back into service.

But it was that or the horror of seeing their friends and allies lynched.
It was this cautious, careful operation, by all indications undertaken with fear and trembling, or definitive dishonor.

America today is under the shadow of this self-inflicted Saigon, this botched Dunkirk, this deep humiliation.

First Impression: The FAB-Defense RAPS Stock

Fri, 09/10/2021 - 16:00

The FAB-Defense RAPS stock has been out for a couple of years now but I have never had hands on time with one until Wednesday. I haven’t installed it yet, but it sure feels fantastic.

Raps or RAPS in all caps stands for rapid adjustable precision stock. FAB has managed to make tool-less, secure, and quick adjustments for length of pull and the cheek rest. No easy feat. The

The RAPS stock is packed with some very nice features.

Non-Compliance With Tyrannical Laws and Leaders is as American as Apple Pie

Fri, 09/10/2021 - 14:00

By Olivia Rondeau

In response to the COVID-19 lockdowns and mandates, the phrase “we will not comply” and sentiments of civil disobedience have become increasingly popular.

Parents at school board meetings have been chanting the famous phrase to protest school districts forcing their children to wear masks while attending school this upcoming semester. In Williamson County, TN, parents protested outside their children’s school building after the board voted to mandate masks in schools.

NC Lt. Governor Robinson: Gov. Cooper Has Made Sure 2nd Amendment Discrimination Will Stay in Place

Fri, 09/10/2021 - 08:00

Given efforts to eradicate racism, you might expect a governor to eagerly sign repeal of a Jim Crow-era law which, by one account, discriminates against Black Americans even today.

But not if the governor is Roy Cooper and the law is our 1919 pistol purchase permit system, which researchers suggest was enacted to deny handguns to Black Americans. Cooper recently vetoed House Bill 398 to repeal the system.

Even gun control stalwarts like Mecklenburg County’s Sen.

Thu, 09/09/2021 - 15:00

When TTAG’s Jeremy S. asked me if I wanted to review a new CZ 457 rimfire rifle, I told him yes, and to just go ahead and have them send me the invoice. I didn’t ask what the features were. I didn’t care what it looked like. I was going to be happy with it, whatever it was, because it was a CZ rimfire rifle.

The CZ 457 Varmint Precision Chassis MTR did not disappoint.

Biden Blames GOP for Chipman Defeat Despite Bipartisan Opposition in the Senate

Thu, 09/09/2021 - 14:15

Joe Biden doesn’t take defeat well (unless, of course, it’s in Afghanistan, and then he declares it a historic victory). The White House announced earlier today through state media that they’re finally euthanizing the David Chipman nomination to head the ATF. In a just-released statement from the White House, Old Joe blames Republicans for Chipman’s stinging defeat.

It’s strange that he makes no mention of the lies Chipman told about the ATF’s Waco debacle.

From the CCRKBA . . .

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today the withdrawal of anti-gun lobbyist David Chipman’s nomination to head the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is “a victory for gun rights and a much-deserved defeat for the gun prohibition lobby and Joe Biden.”

“I want to thank every gun owner and concerned voter who contacted their Senators and helped us stop this dangerous nominee from being confirmed,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb.

When Will Republicans Stop Killing Constitutional Carry in Florida?

Thu, 09/09/2021 - 11:00

By Matt Collins

When government requires a permit to exercise a right, it is no longer a right, but a privilege.

That’s why Florida Gun Rights has been leading the charge to pass constitutional carry in Florida, which means that if you are legally allowed to possess a firearm, then you should be allowed to carry it without begging for a government permission slip.

Twenty-one states recognize some form of constitutional carry as law of the land, including five states that passed it earlier this year: Texas, Montana, Utah, Iowa, and Tennessee.

The new P-10 F Competition-Ready offers all of the popular striker-fired pistol line’s features in an enhanced, competition-ready package.

It’s Time for President Biden to Face Reality and Withdraw the Chipman Nomination

Wed, 09/08/2021 - 10:48

By Larry Keane

President Joe Biden faces a decision point when the U.S. Senate returns to Washington, D.C. next week. He would be well advised to withdraw his nomination of David Chipman for Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Chipman has proven to be an unworthy nominee to lead the 5,000-person bureau that regulates the firearm industry and enforces federal gun laws. His history as a lobbyist for two major gun control groups should have been enough.
