IWA 2016 German Gun Show
Nick is pretty busy these days, what with testing guns and building a $10m gun range on the immediate outskirts of Austin, Texas. So I’m not surprised that the first I’ve heard of IWA 2016 is in this video from the Fieldsports Channel. There’s plenty of firearms-focused appeal here (a.k.a., gun porn), including pimp pin-striped gun stocks and a gi-normous British night site/range finder thingie with WiFi streaming. Too bad the Brits don’t have a larger domestic market. I wonder why that is . . .

Armed Robber Points Gun at Cabbie’s Head – In Front of A Police Car
The forward-facing cabbie in this video had little choice but to comply with an armed, mask-wearing bandit (with terrible trigger discipline). The driver might have been able to draw a firearm pretending it was his wallet. You know; if he’d had one. But the angle of the attack made any ballistic counter-attack a decidedly dicey proposition. Anyway, as my father used to say, it’s better to be lucky than smart. Kudos for the cop for being calm and refraining from perforating the perp. Yes?

Chinese Fire Lance: The First Ever Gunpowder Gun
Gun control advocates fail to understand that the gunpowder genie is out of the bottle. There is no way to stop people from owning and, if needs be, making guns. Gun control can limit the number of Americans who keep and bear arms, but it can never eliminate the practice. There are hundreds of millions of serviceable firearms in the U.S., and tens of millions of citizens who cherish their gun rights. The idea that Americans will surrender their guns is laughable. Well it should be laughable . . .

Gabby Giffords: Vote for Hillary Clinton!
There are some things I can’t write. So I’m not going to write them. OK?

Camouflaged Snipers Rock
TTAG’s resident war hero Jon Wayne Taylor and I had a long conversation about Chris Kyle one day. Jon revealed that Mr. Kyle was not a particularly good shot. His genius lay in his ability to infiltrate an area without being detected, and remain there, hidden. Camouflage is more than just clothing. It’s knowing where to go, where to stay, how to stay there undetected, when to shoot, when to leave and how not to reveal yourself as you exfiltrate. Hats off to these warriors, who have skills I could never master.

Unboxing the TASER Pulse
Robert and Dan just got one of TASER’s new Pulse devices in at the TTAG secret above-ground bunker, and at first blush it looks like they really like it. Stay tuned for a full review of the device in the days to come.

Question of the Day: Got Night Sights?
I can’t understand why any handgun suitable for the everyday carry (EDC) market wouldn’t have night sights. For one thing, criminals are largely nocturnal. Night sights are a ballistic blessing when you’re out and about in low-light or nighttime conditions. For another, many, if not most concealed carriers use their EDC for nightstand duty. While I recommend turning on the lights if something goes bump in the night, night sights afford stealthy self-defense options. So, do you have night sights? If so, which ones, how did you choose them or were they standard equipment? If not, why not?

MSNBC News Live From a Nevada Gun Range! I SAID . . .
MSNBC reporter Harry Sanders decided to highlight the whole Second Amendment thing re: the Trump campaign from a gun range in Nevada. It’s hard to believe that the local producer, reporter, network producer and everyone else at MSNBC involved with this “news package” didn’t figure that gunfire would make the audio problematic. That’s the level of intelligence in play at the network that never met a gun safety/reform/control law they didn’t like. Just sayin’ . . .

This Is What Happens to A Disarmed Populace: French ‘What to Do in An Attack’ Video
I love French food. The country fully deserves its reputation as the culinary capital of the world. I hate French gun laws. They leave the nation’s citizens virtually defenseless against homicidal attacks by criminals, crazies and terrorists. Meanwhile, the government has extended its post-Paris attack “emergency powers” until May 26 — authorizing warrantless searches and extrajudicial house arrests — while the country’s mainstream media sing the same old song of government protection. C’est la vie, or will Europeans regain their firearms freedom in the face of obvious, relentless violence against innocent life? Watch this space.

My Favorite NRA “I Am America’s Safest Place” Video
I saw this video for the first time on CNN during the one-before-last Republican debate. It was posted on YouTube back in January but garnered only 12k views. I thought it well worth resurrection for members of TTAG’s Armed Intelligentsia who may have missed it. Hats off to the NRA for its hard-hitting PR efforts to defend and extend Americans’ natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Post this on your Facebook feed, so that the message doesn’t languish in the backwaters of the NRA’s back catalogue.

Review: Gun Self Defense for Women
Doc Reviews usually reviews mainstream media. His foray into firearms fail is a welcome addition to his canon — although why he fails to mention Doc’s wife-beater T shirt is beyond me. We hope to engage Doc’s talents for further explorations into the world of YouTube gun videos, both positive and negative. Saying that, snark rules. Especially when it’s punctuated by a belch. Play Stupid Games . . .
The profusion of so-called pranks on YouTube continues apace. We’ve said it before, we’ll say again: many of these productions — designed to scare or antagonize unsuspecting civilians — are an excellent way to get shot. Contrary to Internet opinion, it hasn’t happened yet. But it will. And when it does we won’t say we told you so. Because you already know it.

The Hunt for Col. Gaddafi’s Golden Gun
Who knew that Libyan dictator Mummer Gaddafi was the man with the golden gun? The BBC. You’ll have to watch this report by Gabriel Gatehouse — which offers considerable insight into the cluster-you-know-what that is post-Gaddafi Libya — to find out if the intrepid correspondent finds the pistol in question. SPOILER: he does. Now what?

How to Make a Snowball Machine Gun (No NFA Stamp Required)
Destructive device? Nick? Anyway, God bless Yankee ingenuity. And anyone who thinks that outlawing or even confiscating millions of guns would leave Americans without a ballistic solution to their self-defense needs is unaware of 3D printing, backyard gunsmithing and Ralph’s prowess at zip gun production. Just sayin’.

Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day: TheNameJohnny [NSFW]
Is that a real GLOCK 19 or an Airsoft gun? At the end of this “comedy” skit, the teen playing COD racks the slide and ejects what sure looks like a cartridge. If so, whoa. Not only is he pointing the gun in an unsafe direction, his finger’s on the trigger. If not, if it is a toy, still no. This channel is popular with the whipper-snapper set; setting a bad example on gun safety on the Interwebz is never a good idea. In fact, it’s entirely irresponsible. And Facebook bans people selling a legal product legally. Go figure.
