Gérard Depardieu is now a citizen of Russia? The actor who starred in Green Card, a not-entirely-terrible comedy about emigrating to the U.S.? Funny old world, innit? Comrade Depardieu is taking heat for starring in an ad for a Swiss-made Oligarch-friendly Cvestos watch.  GQ dissed its “nauseous wordplay and pathetic production quality.” Le Figaro trumpeted “Gérard Depardieu ‘smokes deers’ in an absurd advert.” I reckon it’s a suitable hammy addition to the Depardieu canon. So to speak.

The WMUR report doesn’t tells us what “federal weapons charge” New Hampshire resident Daniel Muso faces. We know the self-avowed Constitutionalist was the subject of an FBI sting (a.k.a., entrapment) after he asked a gun dealer to supply him with “an extensive amount of weapons” and $60k worth of ammunition, including gas masks (!) and grenades (!!). Let this be a warning to anyone trying to stock up on large amounts of ammo. If you’re contacted by a helpful stranger, leave him be, no matter how persistent he is. Because he will be persistent.

Shannon Watts reckons that armed Americans (a.k.a., “extremists”) are intimidating her members. I think it’s safe to say that members of her organization Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America feel intimidated. I imagine whites at lunch counters in the South during the Civil Rights movement felt intimidated when African Americans joined them, too. Should armed gun rights advocates show up at Moms meeting to fly the flag for firearms freedom? Is that bad for the cause?

NRA Veep Wayne LaPierre is mad as hell and he’s not going to get a debate with President Obama. The chances that someone, anyone will confront the CIC on his lies, distortions and mischaracterizations about his civilian disarmament agenda. And I’m not sure that your average American has an eight-minute attention span when it comes to an “in your face” NRA harangue. Still, it’s nice to see the NRA responding more quickly and authoritatively to the assault media’s anti-gun animus. Props.

(As much as I hate the idea of terminating a pregnancy, ending a potential life, I hate the idea of telling people what to do with their bodies — or what’s in their bodies — a little bit more.) Of course, I’m pro-gun. Go figure. But before you do, check out the opinion of this clip’s host, who believes the New Testament preaches pacifism, equating turning the other cheek with allowing yourself to be slaughtered. And misrepresents everything else besides. So let’s straighten this out. How do you reconcile your position on abortion with your position on guns?
