Smoke and Mirrors: Montana Dem Senator Jon Tester Talks Gun, Hunting Rights While Taking Money from Brady PAC

Tue, 06/11/2024 - 15:21

Three-term U.S. Senator Jon Tester, D-Montana, is in a fight for his political life. Tester’s Republican challenger, Tim Sheehy, a Navy SEAL combat veteran, has received strong support from GOP leadership and an endorsement from former President Donald J. Trump.

Tester’s seat is considered one of the most vulnerable in the Senate. One reason: Montanans love their guns, and Joe Biden – the titular head of Tester’s party – is the most anti-gun president the country has ever seen.

Free Hunter Biden: Where Do You Stand?

Tue, 06/11/2024 - 12:00

In a trial that has nearly generated as much focus on it as that of Donald Trump’s recent legal travails or the late O.J. Simpson’s double murder trial, the jury took the first step in deciding Hunter Biden’s legal fate today by finding him guilty on all three gun charges he was facing. But amidst all the media banter and speculation, the Wall Street Journal reports, Biden has found support among an unusual group of allies—American gun owners.

A federal court jury in Delaware has found Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, guilty on all three federal felony gun charges stemming from buying and possessing a firearm while he was addicted to illegal drugs.

Two of the counts were for lying about his drug use when answering questions on Form 4473, the FBI background check form. The third was for possessing the illegally purchased firearm while addicted to, or using, illegal drugs.

U.S. Rep. Introduces Measure To Ban Gas-Operated Semi-Autos

Tue, 06/11/2024 - 09:36

It will probably come as no surprise to most TTAG readers that a gun-ban advocate in the U.S. Congress has once again introduced a measure to ban many semi-automatic rifles used commonly and legally for plinking, competition, hunting and self-defense.

Last week, in celebration of “Gun Violence Awareness Month,” Democrat U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath introduced HR 8600, the “Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act (GOSAFE), in the House. A similar bill was introduced in the U.S.

DECISIVE: Video of Florida Deputy Taking Down Hostage-Taking Bank Robber

Mon, 06/10/2024 - 16:00

“Talk to me. Let me know what’s going through your head right now.”  Those words were spoken by a police hostage negotiator as a sharpshooter lined up to take a shot. Their goal? To neutralize a bank robber turned hostage taker in Lee County, Florida. In fact, those words must have marked the negotiator’s signal to take the shot as Sterling Alavache held a knife to a woman’s throat.

The bad guy tried to use a computer monitor to hide from police.

Second Amendment Foundation Vows To Fight For Trump’s 2A Rights

Mon, 06/10/2024 - 13:44

With former President Donald Trump’s recent conviction on felony charges, New York is preparing to revoke his gun license and Trump haters are calling for all of his firearms to be confiscated.

But one pro-freedom group, which has long held that it is unconstitutional for nonviolent felons to have their Second Amendment rights taken away, has pledged to fight for the current presidential frontrunner.

Those on the anti-gun side of the Second Amendment debate are crowing over the conviction and pushing for the former president to be forced to relinquish any guns he might own.

Firearm Storage Requirements Set to Become Law in Rhode Island

Mon, 06/10/2024 - 11:05

Rhode Island lawmakers have passed a new bill that mandates the safe storage of firearms, which is now awaiting Governor Daniel McKee’s signature, expected later this week.

The legislation, approved on Thursday, requires that all firearms be stored in a locked container or equipped with a tamper-resistant mechanical lock or similar safety device when not in use by the owner or an authorized user. Proponents of the bill argue that it aims to prevent unauthorized access and accidental discharges, aligning Rhode Island’s laws with those of neighboring Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Chicago-Area Road Rage Incident Ends in CCL Holder Defending Himself

Mon, 06/10/2024 - 10:34

We reported last week on three incidents where concealed carry license (CCL) holders in violence-plagued Chicago were forced to defend themselves, and it appears the hits just keep on coming. Also, last week, Fox 32 is reporting that a road rage incident in the Crestwood area resulted in the fatal shooting of a tow truck driver.

Crestwood police responded to a report of gunfire around 3:02 p.m. last Tuesday near 132nd Street and Cicero Avenue.

Colt Python vs. Smith & Wesson 686+

Sat, 06/08/2024 - 11:00

The Colt Python and the Smith & Wesson 686 are two mid-sized .357 Magnum revolvers that have competed with one another off and on for decades. While I have long been a fan of Smith & Wesson revolvers, Colt’s reintroduction of the Python in 2020 made me curious as to how the modern iterations of each revolver stack up. Recently the stars aligned, and I have both the new Python and 686+ in inventory. Although I expected a day and night comparison between the two, shooting them both side by side gave me a more evenhanded picture.

Florida School Proves Arguments Against Armed Teachers are Off Target

Sat, 06/08/2024 - 08:00

When Eddie and Claire Speir founded Inspiration Academy 11 years ago, not arming teachers wasn’t even a consideration.

“It was because of Columbine. We were in a spiritual war – we still are – and some people were crazy. We knew it was our duty to protect our students. Columbine changed a lot of things for educators,” Speir told the Second Amendment Foundation Tuesday.

Speir and his wife retired and moved to Florida in 2013 after selling their Colorado-based software firm.

Atibal P1 Solar Optic Review

Fri, 06/07/2024 - 15:00

Atibal Optics has been around for more than a decade.  They’ve always been near the front of the pack in the extremely crowded optics market regarding new features and forms.  Standing out isn’t easy when you’re surrounded by Primary Arms, Bushnell, Burris and gobs of other competitors (and imitators). It’s been a while since I’ve swung back by Atibal’s product line, so I grabbed a P1 Solar optic to see what’s new.

The P1 Solar is currently a pre-order, but should be available shortly after this article goes live.

MORE PLEASE: Three Incidents of Chicago CCW Holders Shooting Back This Past Weekend

Fri, 06/07/2024 - 13:00

With roughly 75 days to go before the Democrat National Convention rolls into town, Chicago’s crime problem just seems to keep growing. It seems the Dems putting on the event have selected “Our future is created here” as the event’s slogan. Given that Murder City USA has its own reputation that most of America probably doesn’t want, the entire convention has the potential to become an epic disaster.

Fortunately, with more and more good guys nationwide embracing the proven benefits of firearm ownership, the good guys manage to notch a win once in a while in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s hellhole.

This is My Rifle, This is My Gun: Study Debunks Stereotype That Gun Owners are Compensating for Something

Fri, 06/07/2024 - 11:00

It remains a sad, bigoted trope that men dissatisfied with the size or performance ability (not one in the same) of their sex organs tend to own guns to compensate. We know that’s BS. After all, why would any guy buy or carry a snubnosed revolver if he was compensating for short-man syndrome? A new study debunks that long-held myth – primarily held by those who don’t understand or appreciate the proven benefits of firearm ownership.

NRA Files Brief In Cali One-Gun-A-Month Lawsuit

Fri, 06/07/2024 - 09:00

Further bolstering the case against the state of California for restricting gun purchases to one a month, the National Rifle Association has filed a brief with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal in the lawsuit challenging that law.

In the case Nguyen v. Bonta, plaintiffs argue that the law restricting firearm purchases to no more than one every 30 days is a violation of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Whiny Travis County DA Runs to Legal Mommy Because He Doesn’t Like Texas Guv’s Pardon

Thu, 06/06/2024 - 16:48

In a controversial, and arguably partisan move, Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced this week that his office is seeking to overturn Governor Greg Abbott’s recent pardon of Daniel Perry. Perry, an ex-Army sergeant, was convicted of murder for defending himself during a 2020 Black Lives Matter protest in Austin.

The day after Perry’s conviction in April 2023, Governor Abbott requested the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to review the case.

Since 2020, the Number of New Gun Owners Equals the Entire Population of Florida

Thu, 06/06/2024 - 12:00

Gun control activists hate gun ownership. “More guns means more violence!,” they shout. They’ll swear up and down that guns cause crime, not deranged and violent people. They push an unending agenda to limit the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans to lawfully purchase and possess firearms.

Gun control activists are in for some bad news: Americans have rejected their anti-gun dogma in a Florida-sized way.

Firearm industry data has revealed something astounding.

Virginia Man Finally Returns Home After Hellish Island Vacation

Thu, 06/06/2024 - 10:00

For those who are keeping track, three of the five Americans being held in Turks and Caicos for accidentally having stray ammo in their bags, have now been released with hefty fines and time served. Last week, Tyler Wenrich, a 31-year-old emergency medical technician from Louisa County, Virginia, returned home the same day it was being reported that an Oklahoma man, Ryan Watson, who was found to have five rounds of hunting ammunition in his bag, was pleading guilty of that possession and hoping for the same outcome.

DENIAL HAS NO SURVIVAL VALUE: Chicago Pols Attempt To Normalize Violence, Crime

Thu, 06/06/2024 - 08:00

Chicago’s brilliant leader Brandon Johnson (Let’s go Brandon!) and his fellow radicals running America’s Murder City have rolled out a new strategy for dealing with the ever-growing crime plaguing the city. Instead of arresting offenders and incarcerating them or urging locals to embrace their right to keep and bear arms, the new strategy simply normalizes the insane violence the woke “criminal justice reform” has fostered.

For instance, one extra special snowflake alderwoman says she’s no longer going to post news of crime sprees in her district.

Media Fact Check: How Fake News Happens

Wed, 06/05/2024 - 14:00

C.A. Bridges, a “digital producer” for Gannett’s USA TODAY Florida network, wrote basically the same story on May 12 and May 28, which claimed that Florida has experienced more mass shootings than any other state. Unfortunately for Bridges and his readers, both stories were wrong, incredibly biased and typical of the fake news that permeates today’s corporate media, especially when the topic involves guns.

On May 12, Bridges wrote a story titled “Florida leads country in mass shootings after gunfire injures several.
