Thu, 07/11/2024 - 09:30

Opening statements were made Wednesday in the involuntary manslaughter trial for actor Alec Baldwin, with prosecutors showing body cam videos of first-responders at the scene and painting Baldwin as a reckless person with little care for safe gun handling.

“The defendant takes [the gun] out quickly the first time pointed—and you will hear witness testimony who will tell you the first time he does it his finger is on or around the trigger,” Special Prosecutor Erlinda Johnson told the jury.

Gun Review: Colt’s Series 70 Competition Pistol

Wed, 07/10/2024 - 16:00

There is a great deal of storied history surrounding the 1911. Much of this history is backed up by military records not to mention Congressional investigations having to do with awarding the Medal of Honor. The Colt has figured into a number of important battles since its initial design for military use.

Though it was officially replaced by first the Beretta 92 and later the SIG P320, the 1911 still serves in some select units.

Despite Constitutional Carry, New Orleans Head Cop Bans Guns In French Quarter

Wed, 07/10/2024 - 12:30

The New Orleans’ Police Superintendent is playing political games to try to stop lawful citizens from carrying firearms in one popular tourist area, despite the fact that state lawmakers just passed a constitutional carry law this spring.

New Gov. Jeff Landry just signed the state’s “permitless” carry law into effect on March 5, rolling back the requirement for citizens to acquire a permit to carry a concealed firearm for self-defense. Now, however, Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick is playing fast and loose with the new law to try to keep people—except criminals, of course—from carrying a gun in the famed French Quarter.

ATF Gets Generous Doling Out Trace Data to Anti-Gun Groups, Media

Wed, 07/10/2024 - 10:00

Someone at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) believes it is easier – or more politically convenient – to roll over to gun control activists and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit than it is to defend a federal law protecting firearm trace data.

For the second time in less than a year, the ATF chose to ignore the Tiahrt Amendment – the federal law that prohibits the disclosure of sensitive firearm trace data to anyone outside of law enforcement circles for use in a bona fide investigation – and instead released it to the public.

Supreme Court Justice’s Protective Detail Shoots Aspiring Carjacker Outside Sotomayor’s DC Residence

Tue, 07/09/2024 - 17:40

What happens when an 18-year-old thug brings his old, inferior S&W Sigma 9mm (but it has a laser!) to attempt a carjacking of trained U.S. Marshals guarding Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s residence in Washington, D.C.? Suffice it to say things didn’t go well for Kentrell Flowers. He got himself shot and his gun taken away.

So much for a brand new ride on this night.  Maybe he should have gone to summer school instead of taking a carjacking apprenticeship to go along with his pre-med studies at Georgetown.

Gear Review: Bushnell RXM-300 Reflex Sight

Mon, 07/08/2024 - 16:00

Bushnell has been making solid, affordable optics rugged enough for hunters for generations. When I saw their new RXM-300 come out earlier this year I suspected it might just fill the niche I was looking to fill for a recent build. I’m not heading into combat, but I do want an optic that’s going to be durable and reliable and will withstand harsh weather and some knocks or drops that might happen at the range or in the woods.

Now, the case, Commonwealth v. Dean F. Donnell, is set to begin the appeals phase before the State Supreme Judicial Court.

As some background, the case revolves around a New Hampshire man who was arrested and prosecuted for carrying a firearm in Massachusetts without a permit from that state.

American Rounds: Making Ammo More Accessible

Mon, 07/08/2024 - 12:00

Those from my generation likely remember the great fun we had trying to get our moms to give us a nickel or dime at the grocery store so we could get a handful of M&Ms or Hot Tamales from the coin-eating candy machines. While I was seldom successful (my Mom was a health food nut), I thought there was nothing cooler.

However, as the saying goes, “Hold my beer.” Automated vending machines at several stores in Alabama and Oklahoma are dispensing something even better than Hot Tamales—specifically, ammunition.

Newspaper Blames Gun Shop, Not Biden for Illegal Handgun Purchase

Mon, 07/08/2024 - 09:30

Gannett’s flagship newspaper USA TODAY claims in a recent story that if a Delaware gun shop had “done its job” in 2018, Hunter Biden would never have been able to illegally purchase the .38 Special Colt Cobra revolver, which led to his three felony convictions.

“By law, handguns can be sold by shops only to state residents, who must provide a government-issued proof of residency, and Biden was not a legal resident of Delaware in 2018.

Legal Scholar Suggests Scheme To Put Obama Back In White House

Mon, 07/08/2024 - 07:00

We discussed recently the possibility of President Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race and being replaced by any of a number of gun-ban advocates including Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A recent story published in the Washington Examiner has raised an even more concerning possibility—replacing Kamala Harris on the vice presidential ticket with former divider in chief Barack Obama, paving the way for him to be president should Biden be elected and step down.

Sun, 07/07/2024 - 10:23

Now it looks as though those rumors continue to grow. The bad news for gun owners is that gun hater Kamala Harris will take the reigns upon a Biden resignation.

But is that really bad news for whose who understand the proven benefits of firearm ownership?

Sure, Kamala Harris hates the idea of the little people owning firearms to defend their homes, families or livelihood.

California gun owners have long been besieged by a lengthy list of unjust, unconstitutional firearm laws that make practicing their Second Amendment right more difficult. And a new law that just took effect is going to make freedom even more scarce in The Golden State.

Prosecutor: Suspect In Arkansas Family Shooting Was Defending Himself

Fri, 07/05/2024 - 16:47

It’s regrettable, although not all that uncommon, when a family member has to shoot another family member in self-defense. And it seems even more regrettable when a young man is forced to shoot his father to protect himself and his mother.

Yet that seems to be the case in an Arkansas shooting that left one man dead and his son claiming the shooting was in self-defense.

According to a recent report at deltaplexnews.com, the prosecuting attorney in the murder trial for Justice Taggart, who shot and killed his father, Maurice Taggart, on Aug.
