Glock: The Beginning

Fri, 02/09/2024 - 09:00

In the early days of shooting, or BG (Before Glock) as it is known, pistols were complex collections of fitted parts that made for a sometimes precarious balance of reliability and function. This became very evident when a shooter would attempt to go beyond a general field stripping of their pistol to replace a part or even explore the gun. Many a gunsmith would see customers walk into their shop with a shoe box full of parts that were previously a pistol.

Say Aloha to Your Guns: Hawaii Court Gets Creative (aka Stupid) on the Second Amendment

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 16:44

Straight from the department of “you can’t make this sh** up,” the Hawaii Supreme Court appears to now be simply making their laws up out of some Maui Wowi-induced vibe after they head-scratchingly declared that the “Spirit of Aloha” trumps what they see as a Second Amendment that doesn’t apply to their island state. Christopher Wilson, the defendant in this legal dramedy, found himself on the wrong side of a court that apparently consults its cultural roots more eagerly than its constitutional texts.

The Wound Report: Always Bring Enough Gun

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 15:00

Our hero was in his early twenties and came dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He limped into the Emergency Department under his own power complaining of spontaneous left knee pain. I asked if he had fallen, twisted his knee or otherwise injured himself, and he said “no.”

His examination was significant for a painful range of motion. There were no obvious external wounds, but his knee was indeed slightly swollen.

Savage Arms Will Find a Following Among 1911 Fans

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 13:00

By Michael Irwin Collins

The Savage 1911 finally arrived at my FFL after waiting quite a few months. Some of the big guys got theirs first and that’s ok. I have mine now, and I have given the pistol a good workout. Savage may not be best known for their handguns, but I have to say, this is a credible addition to the 1911 world, and there are certainly plenty of 1911 types to compare this piece to.

CCRKBA Submits Amicus Brief in California Gun Show Ban Case

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 11:00

As California legislators, led by Gov. Gavin Newsom, continue to try to dance around the Supreme Court’s Bruen ruling and insist on stifling Second Amendment freedoms in the Golden State, lawsuits continue to fly.

Most recently, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has submitted an amicus brief to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals supporting the federal lawsuit filed against California’s effort to ban gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds, as well as other state-owned property across the state.

Once Again, The Israel-Hamas War Shows the Futility of Gun Control

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 09:00

Last year, I wrote an article exploring some practical lessons from the initial attack on Israel from the Gaza strip. The biggest thing was that, as usual, a country had slid into anti-gun complacency. Everyone thought that it was somebody else’s job to protect people, so targets of all kinds were left vulnerable.

But, this time, the tables have turned. An Israeli operation at a hospital in the West Bank managed to drive the point home yet again.

FPC Files Appellant Opening Brief In N.M. Carry Ban Case

Thu, 02/08/2024 - 07:00

With the case challenging New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s carry ban soon to be heard, many pro-gun organizations are filing briefs. The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), an organization dedicated to winning the battle for the Second Amendment in courtrooms across the country, filed its appellant opening brief with the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on Feb. 1.

“The Governor’s restrictions are particularly perverse because they prohibit individuals in locations such as parks and playgrounds—that Defendants assert are ‘vulnerable’—from arming themselves for their own defense and the defense of their children and grandchildren,” the brief in the case Fort v.

Ammo Background Checks Back on in People’s Republic of California

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 19:40

“Well, screw me!” every gun owner in California collectively said at the news U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez’s ruling just last week had been stayed by a higher court panel. Benitez had ruled that the state’s requirement people get background checks for each ammo purchase was unconstitutional. Of course, the court panel that issued the stay is none other than the infamous 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals headquartered out of San Francisco, which is so liberal, the court’s rulings typically border on enforcing near communistic doctrine.

Nick Freitas: One to Watch as a Defender of the Second Amendment

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 16:00

If you haven’t been on Nick Freitas’s Instagram page where the rising political and social media star (he has more than 1.1 million followers) regularly posts, you’re missing out on both his mild-mannered humor as well as his anti-gun argument destroying logic that he uses in attempting to stem the Democratic tide of bad legislation in Virginia. It’s there that the former Green Beret combat veteran has served in the House of Delegates since 2016.

ATF Official: Federal Prosecutors Turning a Blind Eye to Straw Purchasers, Again

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 14:00

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona is not prosecuting straw-purchase arrests with speed and vigor, which can allow weapons purchased illegally in the United States to “walk” across the border into Mexico, according to a retired ATF deputy assistant director who blew the whistle the first time this happened, in what became known as ATF’s “Operation Fast & Furious” scandal.

Peter J. Forcelli said the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix, which is overseen by U.S.

Trio Tries Armed Robbery…With Wrong-Way Scope on Rifle

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 11:07

How dumb does a person have to be to mount a scope backwards? That takes an extra special sort of individual. Sort of like a trio of would-be armed robbers in Marysville, Wash.

Police officers chased the not-so-bright crew after cops say they attempted to pull an armed robbery and/or carjacking. The three scholars rolled up in a stolen car and announced their intentions to a homeowner who just arrived home. They did so with an AR-15, complete with a scope mounted backwards.

The Real Problem 3D-Printed Guns Reveal (It’s Not The Guns)

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 09:00

A recent story from America’s largest outdoor shooting range shows us not only the futility of gun control, but also that the whole “ITS THE GUNS ITS THE GUNS ITS THE GUNS” argument doesn’t hold any water. Why? Because Chicago is far from the only place where this is happening.

Let’s start with what’s going on in Chicago these days:

In short, Glock switches are showing up everywhere. But, instead of having to risk buying them from the feds or from Wish, the gangs are now using 3D printers and other parts to build them.

Far-Reaching Anti-Gun Measure Pushed Through Massachusetts State Senate

Wed, 02/07/2024 - 07:00

Anti-gun state senators in Massachusetts recently passed a sweeping gun-control bill that reads like a wish list for gun-ban advocates.

The measure, S 2572, was approved by the Senate on Feb. 1 and covers a lot of bases, all of them bad for lawful gun owners in the state. First, it would broaden the ban on common semi-automatic rifles that Massachusetts citizens are already under. If the new legislation were to pass, nearly any semi-auto rifle and many semi-auto shotguns would be outlawed.

Michigan School Shooter’s Mother Found Guilty in Precedent Setting Conviction

Tue, 02/06/2024 - 16:53

Jennifer Crumbley, the Michigan mother of a child who carried out a mass school shooting killing four students in 2021, just became the first parent in the U.S. to be held responsible for their child’s criminal actions. She was found guilty today of involuntary manslaughter. The unanimous verdict in the unprecedented case came on the second day of deliberations.

Crumbley, 45, had been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, one for each victim.

Cheap VR Rifle Stock Makes Things A Lot More Realistic

Tue, 02/06/2024 - 10:00

As I’ve pointed out several times before, virtual reality (VR) can be a powerful tool for training. It’s obviously no substitute for live fire, but when done right it can be a great way to do things not only cheaper, but with a lot more flexibility than the one-way shooting range. Being able to slip some $250 goggles on your head and go to a virtual shooting range in your pajamas gives you a lot more chances for practice, too.

Democrats Are Waging All Out War on Gun-Owning Citizens of Virginia

Tue, 02/06/2024 - 07:00

The Old Dominion, famously the site of many historic battles for America’s freedom, including pivotal campaigns during the American Revolutionary War, the Civil War and even the War of 1812 is again shaping up to be an epic battleground over the fight for gun rights. With a thinly elected Democrat majority in both the state senate and legislature this past November, the anti-gun political party was quick to drop as many as 47 gun-control bills for consideration and so far, every single Democrat has supported them along party lines.

Texas Homeowner Goes WWE on Armed Burglar, Kills Him with Defensive Choke Hold

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 17:00

A rifle-toting burglar stormed a Midland, Texas, home over the weekend in an effort to rob its occupants, but discovered too late it was going to take more than the sight of a firearm to scare the homeowner into giving over the goods. Police responded to a call for a “disturbance with weapons,” but by the time they got there, they found someone dead, and it wasn’t the homeowner.

Police reported that upon arrival at the scene they found 37-year-old George Samuel Butler dead.

Taylor Swift Surrounds Herself With Hired Guns While Advocating For Disarming Everyday Americans

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 15:00

Taylor Swift doesn’t ordinarily get involved in politics, but when it comes to gun control, she’s made an exception. She supports gun control for the little people across America. Why? Because people shouldn’t have to “fear” violent crime committed by bad guys with guns. As though laws stop the criminally inclined.

However, when it comes to her personal safety and security, Taylor Swift doesn’t walk the walk when it comes to her talk supporting gun control.

Historians Are in Demand Thanks to Bruen

Mon, 02/05/2024 - 12:00

While the pursuit of knowledge in any discipline is a worthy endeavor unto itself, there are certain majors plenty of parents bemoan when their kids declare them either because of limited income potential or even more limited opportunities to actually find gainful employment (especially when the cost of college is factored in). Journalism, which was my choice at a time when newspapers and magazines still ruled the media landscape, was my choice and my dad tried everything short of forbidding me to pursue it, even pointing out what low starting pay journalists made.
