...Michael Bloomberg says he has a direct path to Heaven for his gun work — no, really
The end of Michael Bloomberg’s NY Times interview (we covered the part where he plans to make an anti-gun NRA here) has a very odd ending. The former NYC mayor said that if there is a God, he’s getting fast-tracked to him in the afterlife because of his work on guns and smoking:
Mr. Bloomberg was introspective as he spoke, and seemed both restless and wistful. When he sat down for the interview, it was a few days before his 50th college reunion. His mortality has started dawning on him, at 72. And he admitted he was a bit taken aback by how many of his former classmates had been appearing in the “in memoriam” pages of his school newsletter.
But if he senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking ce
‘We’ve Got to Make Them Afraid of Us’: Guess Who Plans to Spend $50 Million to Create Anti-Gun Version of NRA
Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to spend $50 million in 2014 to build a “nationwide grass-roots network to motivate” anti-gun voters, the New York Times reports.
Basically, the billionaire wants to create the anti-Second Amendment version of the National Rifle Association. Eventually, he wants the group to be able to overpower the NRA. Bloomberg says gun control advocates should learn from the NRA and make sure there are consequences for failing to go along with their agenda.
He accused the NRA of threatening to go after lawmakers’ “kids,” “grandkids” and even “great-grandkids” if they don’t vote the right way.

Time Is Up for New York Gun Owners to Register Their So-Called ‘Assault Weapons’ — See What Some Chose to Do Instead
The state of New York gave gun owners who owned so-called “assault weapons” before the passage of the SAFE Act, a hastily-passed gun control law, until April 15, 2014, to register them with the state government.
On Tuesday, the deadline, New York gun owners and Second Amendment rights advocates gathered in downtown Buffalo, N.Y., and shredded gun registration forms in an act of protest.
New York lawmakers have “shredded” their constitutional rights, so it’s only fitting the gun registration forms get the same treatment, protesters reportedly said.
“The SAFE Act redefines an ‘assault weapon’ as almost any semi-automatic weapon with a ‘military-style feature,’ including a telescoping stock, long guns with a pistol grip, or the ability to hold a detachable magazine,” WIVB-TV reports.
Under the law, these weapons can no longer be bought or so
Taxes Aren’t the Only Looming April 15 Deadline for These Gun Owners
Tuesday is the final day New Yorkers who own semi-automatic weapons have to register those guns after the state passed a new law classifying them as “assault weapons.”
But as this deadline, coinciding with tax day, approaches, the New York State Police are not releasing the number of people who have registered their weapons, while New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo – who pushed the law – said he doesn’t know, the Associated Press reported.
The New York assault weapons ban, passed in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., elementary school mas
Homeowner Teaches Teens a Quick Lesson About the Power of Bear Spray and a Shotgun
When two teens allegedly broke into the garage of a couple in Spokane, Washington, this week, they likely never expected what unfolded next. And it involved bear spray and a shotgun.
It all happened in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, KREM-TV reports. Police say the couple claims to have heard noises coming from their garage. Considering it had been broken into recently, they took action quickly. In a very unique way. How? They emptied a can of bear spray into the garage, and it sent the suspected crooks running.
But the confrontation didn’t end th
New York’s SAFE Act Allows Police to Seize Firearms Without a Warrant: Lawsuit
New York’s hastily-passed gun control law “mandates that law enforcement personnel seize, without a warrant, probable cause or hearing” some firearms, a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New York’s Eastern District alleges.
The lawsuit was filed in March by the La Reddola, Lester & Associates law firm on behalf of Gabriel Razzano. As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, the lawsuit claims the registry process is “essentially secret and results in a mandatory, warrantless Penal Law 400 gun removal visit from police.”
A memorandum of law requesting preliminary injection and a temporary restraining order in regards to the law outlines five key points:
Pro-Gun Senate Candidate Pulls Out His Glock, Knife in Wild Campaign Ad
Bob Quast is running for U.S. Senate in Iowa, hoping to succeed retiring Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) in November. His latest campaign ad is already burning up the Internet — most likely because it’s unlike almost every campaign ad ever made.
In the video, Quast advocates for a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution requiring term limits for members of Congress. He then expresses his unwavering support for the Second Amendment.
“I believe in every aspect of our Constitution,” Quast says in the ad as a dog is shown seemingly nodding his head in approval. “Which even a baby knows includes the Second Amendment.”
The candidate then talks about the murder of his sister by her husband in 1999, warning him of what will happen if he comes to his home.
“If you are the sexual predator and sociopath who murdered my sister, Lynnette, and you come to my front door to do harm to my girls, I’m going to use my Glock — to blow your balls off,” he says in the video.
Creating Gun Criminals Where There Were None
“Because it’s the law, that’s why.”
How many times have you heard that excuse or justification for some regulation or statute that seems to be prima facie punitive or unjust? Notice how I dropped a bit of Latin legalese on you? Prima Facie means “on the face of it” or obvious, or at first glance.
Latin terminology is strewn throughout “the law.” Some argue that it holds with timeless tradition. Others contend that use of Latin words keeps the layman from understanding the law and keeps attorneys in business. Regardless of your take on the situation, there are a few Latin terms used in the legal system of which you would do well to acquaint yourself.
Malum in se is a Latin phrase used to describe an act that is wrong or evil in and of itself. This would be an action that by its very nature is sinful or wrong. Murder, rape, robbery, theft would all be acts classified as malum in se; we do not require an elaborate explanation to tell us why they are wrong.
A Hero Ex-Cop Is Actually Having to Sue for the Right to Carry a Concealed Firearm in California
The UC Berkeley police officer who famously helped rescue kidnap victim Kaycee Dugard is suing her former employer, claiming she was wrongfully denied approval to carry a concealed firearm after she retired on medical disability.
Allison “Ally” Jacobs became a hero after her intuition helped lead to the capture of Phillip Garrido, the sex offender who held Dugard captive for 18 long years. Jacobs reportedly suffered an on-duty injury about a year later and she accepted a disability retirement in April of 2013.

Man Who Broke Into Florida Family’s Home Really Had No Idea What Was Waiting for Him
An armed Florida family banded together and fought back against a man who police say broke into their home early Monday morning. After the intruder ignored a warning shot, at least two of the family members shot the suspect, killing him.
A mother, father and son living in the Winter Haven, Fla., home reportedly woke up just before 7 a.m. to the sound of an unknown person trying to break in through a porch door. Police later identified the suspect as 40-year-old Mitchell Large.
One of the family members first tried to scare away the intruder with a warning shot. Large apparently did not heed the warning, a decision that would cost him his life.
