Eric Holder Has an Idea He Wants to Explore About How to Make ‘More Safe’

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 13:55

It’s stuff straight out of a Bond movie. And now it’s being trumpeted once again by the Obama administration, specifically Eric Holder, to talk about gun issue.

What is it? Technology that prevents a gun from being fired by anyone but the lawful owner.

“I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and talked about how guns can be made more safe,” Holder told Congress on Friday.

“By making them — either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, — how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon,” he added. “It’s those kinds of things that I think we want to try to explore so that we can make sure that people have the ability to enjoy their Second Amendment rights, while at the same time decreasing the misuse of weapons that lead to the kinds of things that we see on a daily basis, where people where, kids especially, are struck down.”

Criminal Tries One of the Oldest Tricks in the Book on Woman – Here’s How It Worked Out for Him

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 23:11

A knife-wielding criminal, who police say tried to force his way into a Alabama woman’s home after claiming he needed help, is no longer living. He was shot dead by the female homeowner who feared for her life and that of her niece.

Another suspect was arrested and charged with first degree robbery in connection with the case on Friday morning.

Police say 18-year-old Mikel Steven Smith, of Marbury, Ala., first knocked on the door of the woman’s Autauga County home and told her he needed help and was “broke down.” When she came to the door, Smith pushed the door open and entered the home with a knife.

With her life clearly threatened, the armed wom

Medal of Honor Recipient Scolds Guest When He Interrupts Him During Ft. Hood Debate: ‘No, Be Quiet’

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 16:43

Retired Col. Jack Jacobs, a Medal of Honor Recipient, clearly does not like to be interrupted while he’s talking. It’s an understandable reaction given his storied military career.

He made that much clear during a debate on MSNBC over whether or not soldiers should be armed on military bases in an effort to prevent tragedies like the Fort Hood shooting. Author and gun rights advocate John Lott cut him off when he said arming soldiers is a “foolish response” — and that’s when things got a little tense.

“Arming everybody on post seems to me a very foolish response,” Jacobs said.

“Well, I—“ Lott began, but was quickly shut down.

“No, be quiet,” Jacobs replied sternly, turning to the camera and pointing his finger at Lott.

Gun Control Advocates Who Say More Guns Equal More Crime Might Not Want to Read This

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 15:45

On July 9, 2013, a bill to recognize Illinois gun owners’ right to carry concealed firearms was passed by both chambers of the state Legislature. Illinois became the last state in the nation to allow public possession of concealed guns.

Gun control advocates warned that high-crime areas, like Chicago, would only see more violence if residents were allowed to carry guns in public.

In reality, the opposite appears to be happening.

On Tuesday, the Chicago Police Department announced that the city experienced its lowest murder rate since 1958 in the first quarter of 2014. There were 6 fewer murders than the same

An Off-Duty Cop With a Gun Proves Why It’s a Horrible Idea to Stab Someone Across the Street From the Police Headquarters

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 15:30

If there’s one place that you definitely shouldn’t lose it and start stabbing someone, it’s in front of the police headquarters of a major city. One suspect in Dallas found that out the hard way on Friday.

(shutterstock.com)

It all started when two employees of a trucking business saw a man acting suspiciously within a fenced-in area near the property. When they attempted to escort him away, Lt. Max Geron — a spokesman with the Dallas police — said he pulled out a knife and started repeatedly stabbing one of the employees.

One of the employees, a woman, began screaming

Putting an End to the Insanity: Our Soldiers Deserve Their 2nd Amendment

Criminals, crazed maniacs, and terrorists always obey the rules.

After all, Sandy Hook Elementary School’s gun-free policy deterred Adam Lanza from his sadistic plot to slaughter children in Newtown, Conn. The same policy at Rocori High School stopped Jason McLaughlin from pulling a gun on his fellow students in my childhood home of Cold Spring, Minn. In the same vein, the Cinemark Theater chain’s gun-free zone policy certainly dissuaded James Holmes from his plan to walk into a dark room of unsuspecting movie goers in Aurora, Colo. and blast the life out of them.

Indeed, criminals, crazed maniacs, and terrorists always obey the rules.

Right.

Here’s a concept—murder is also against the law. Yet thousands of people are murdered every year in the United States. Just because something is “illegal” or “banned” stops few who want to get away with it (or at least make the attempt) if they really want.

Here’s What It Looks Like When a Gun Manufacturer Releases a ‘New York Compliant’ AR-15

Thu, 04/03/2014 - 12:51

A Missouri-based gun manufacturer announced this week the release of a line of “New York Compliant” rifles, a market-based response to the Empire State’s strict new gun laws.

“With the continual trampling of the 2nd Amendment in New York, Black Rain Ordnance is proud to announce their ‘New York Compliant’ rifles,” the group said in a statement on its website. “These rifles feature all of the quality and craftsmanship of the standard BRO-lines, but with the added features that allow for legal possession.”

Features that make Black Rain Ordnance’s new rifles compliant with New York’s guns laws include: No pistol grip, a non-threaded muzzle fixed stock, 10-round low capacity approved magazine and a Lo-Pro gas block “without the evil bayonet lug.”

Victim From First Ft. Hood Shooting Has a Recommendation the Anti-Gun Crowd Won’t Like

Thu, 04/03/2014 - 07:40

Staff Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford (Ret.) was shot seven times when gunfire rang out at Ft. Hood in 2009. And on Thursday morning in the wake of the latest tragedy on the base, he offered a solution to protecting military members on bases that’s sure to rile the anti-gun crowd: arm the soldiers.

“I am extremely angry,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” He went on to criticize the government for giving people “what they wanted to hear” instead of fixing the issue.

“We are trained to be able to be able to operate these weapons and make good decisions with the weapons. As I stated before, guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” he explained. “But if you are allowed to carry the weapons on the base, that’s a deterrent. Even if you have a terrorist that’s going to try to do something against our country they won’t do it because they know what the end result will be. Or if you have a disgruntled person, they won’t do it because they know what the end result will be.”

He also went on to say that the process for soldiers with PTSD needs to be assessed, since those who go in for help don’t immediately get it.

Tue, 04/01/2014 - 20:16

Danny Jones, the mayor of Charleston, W.Va., completely lost his cool during a debate over recently-passed legislation intended to make gun laws more “uniform” across the state. The interview aired on WOWK-TV on March 16.

Joining him on the program was West Virginia Senate Majority Leader John Unger (R), who sponsored the new law intended to keep local governments from crafting gun rules stricter than their state’s or the federal government.

With Democratic Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin’s approval earlier this month, West Virginia nixed the right for cities to outlaw guns at their swimming pools, tennis courts, after-school centers and similar city venues. Under the new law, concealed carry permit

‘We Are Going to Take That Gun’: Watch Dramatic Open Carry Arrest With an Ending You Probably Won’t See Coming

A San Antonio man was reportedly arrested while openly carrying his rifle while on a walk near his home on Monday. The incident, which was video recorded by the gun owner, started out as a calm and reasonable conversation but ended dramatically with cops tasing the man before they put him in handcuffs.

While it is perfectly legal to openly carry a rifle in Texas, police reportedly arrested Henry Vichique, 19, under a local ordinance that apparently prohibits residents from carrying a loaded rifle or shotgun within city limits.

In a video posted on YouTube Monday, Vichique is seen being approached by officers and immediately ordered to put his rif

D.C. Businessman Whose Home Was Raided in Gun Charge Says Prosecutors Lied About Him to His Neighbors

Mon, 03/31/2014 - 15:56

Antique gun collector Mark Witaschek has been at the center of a legal controversy in Washington, D.C. that has spanned roughly two years. His story made national news after his home was raided by more than 30 police officers in full tactical gear searching for “firearms and ammunition … gun cleaning equipment, holsters, bullet holders and ammunition receipts.”

Witaschek says he and his girlfriend were handcuffed and had guns pointed at their heads, and his son was yanked out of the shower and treated similarly.

Residents in This Longtime Liberal City Are Making the Case for the Second Amendment — Criminals Are Leaving Them No Choice

Thu, 03/27/2014 - 22:46

In what could be a future case study on firearms, fatal self-defense shootings are on the rise in Detroit. Instead of victims, criminals are increasingly facing armed citizens determined to defend themselves and their homes.

On Tuesday, a Detroit man reportedly shot and killed two men he said tried to break into his home. Assuming the shooting is ruled self-defense, that means there have been 10 fatal self-defense shootings in Detroit in 2014 so far.

“Detroit has traditionally had a large percentage of the nation’s justifiable homicides by citizens. In 2012, the last year for which natio

The Controversial Open Carry Arrest That Attorney Says Has Township in ‘Real Trouble’

Thu, 03/27/2014 - 15:07

A gun owner in Flint Township, Mich., has filed a lawsuit claiming he was stopped and arrested while legally openly carrying his pistol back in December. He ended up spending Christmas in jail.

Flint Township police say the man’s gun was covered by his coat, making the arrest legal. The police dashcam video of the incident doesn’t prove either side’s story conclusively, but it does provide some additional insight.

In the video, John David McMorris, 21, can be seen stopping and putting his hands over his head when an officer turned on his police car lights. The gun appears to be visible on his right hip in the video — and Michigan is an open carry state.

Man Finds ‘Dream Job’ in Teaching Others How to Build AK-47s

Thu, 03/27/2014 - 12:20

Jim Fuller is a retired electrician. He spent years wiring, welding and learning the high art of attention to detail in his craft. But for years he dreamed of a different line of work; he wanted to open up a company to build and sell reliable firearms. And in 2007, he and his wife Karen did just that.

“In my lifetime, we’ve gone from seeing people have large, nice walnut cases where they displayed their firearms; it was a status symbol,” Fuller, the president of Rifle Dynamics, told TheBlaze. “Nowadays people have to hide them in a locked case under the bed.”

They Pulled a Gun on Him — But This Pizza Delivery Driver Had One of His Own

Wed, 03/26/2014 - 11:35

A pizza delivery driver is probably thankful he had a license to lawfully possess a firearm, after he used his gun to defend himself against two would-be robbers Saturday night.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Jet’s Pizza driver was making a delivery to two individuals posing as customers. That’s when one of them reportedly grabbed him and another pulled a handgun on him, demanding money.

The driver then pulled out his own gun and shot at the suspects, police said, before dialing 911.

The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.
