Load and Launch Like a Pro or Pay the Price

Fri, 06/13/2014 - 15:56

Last week I did a shakedown cruise on a new Sea Hunt 24-foot center console with my son-in-law, Jeff Jordan, and my grandson, Charlie. Jeff ordered the boat a couple of months ago, and we wanted to take it out and go through everything to make sure it would be ready for its first real fishing trip. Boats rarely come truly water-ready and even if they are, it takes a little experimentation to get the launch and load process down. Jeff wisely decided it would make sense to have a little learning experience at Belews Lake instead of doing the learning process on the fly. I’ve often said that...

Video: Piebald Deer Fawn Born in Georgia

Fri, 06/13/2014 - 14:32

Scientists at the University of Georgia Deer Research Facility in Athens got a rare surprise when a doe gave birth to a piebald fawn on Thursday. Researchers said that the piebald baby deer was one of two fawns delivered by the doe, and may have a different father than its normal-looking sibling. Piebaldism is a rare condition in animals that is often mistaken for albinism. Piebald deer usually exhibit random brown and white coloration with splotches of black or pink skin underneath. Just like albino animals, piebald creatures rarely survive...

On Thursday, however, the Boone and Crockett Club announced that the horns came up short. "Following the Boone and Crockett Club’s mandatory 60-day drying period, the ram’s horns lost an astounding four inches in net score," the club stated in a Read more »

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry, points out that no conclusive evidence exists that shows hunters and target shooters using...

Known for “stretching” the truth to further their political agenda, the Bloomberg funded groups have embarrassingly duped a mainstream media too lazy to vet the anti-gun groups claims that a simple Google search would show to be completely false.
