Alan Sanford was just 18-years-old when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, but he was part of the crew that fired the first American shot aboard the USS Ward. Sanford died in January, at the age of 91, and was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery this week.

Caught on video: Would-be robber shot by victim (VIDEO)
An attempted robbery inside the garage of home outside of Uberlândia, Brazil, was thwarted when the intended victim – an off-duty police officer – fired at one of the suspects, and the entire incident was captured on the home’s video surveillance system.
The intended victim is seen parking his car in the garage, but as the garage door closes, three men stop the door and one, who is armed with a gun, makes his way towards the driver’s side of the vehicle. But the suspect is met with a hail of gunfire, before all three suspects flee the scene.
The injured suspect, who was identified as 32-year-old Eliseu Santos Paulo, later died.
Neither the intended victim, nor his wife, who was in the passenger’s seat, were injured.

Dad wonders what walking toddler imagines… and it’s something like this (VIDEO)
If you’ve ever wondered what goes through the mind of a toddler as he or she goes about their day, walking along the sidewalk and picking up sticks along the way, you’re not alone. A gamer dad, known on YouTube as “Monke Y,” had the swell idea to add a little Super Mario Bros. action to his tot’s daily walking routine. Maybe the youngster imagines he’s collecting coins, flipping turtle shells and pouncing on mushrooms as he walks along, maybe not. But either way, the video still makes for a good laugh. Too bad the imaginative clip isn’t a bit longer.
