A newly implemented algorithm allows damaged robots to continue on with their mission, even if they lose one of their legs.

Researchers Antoine Cully, Jeff Clune and Jean-Baptiste Mouret programmed a hexapodal robot with the ability to conduct its own “Intelligent Trial and Error.” When one of the robot’s legs sustains damage, the software sorts through the pre-programmed catalogue of over 13,000 different gaits and selects the best one allow forward motion, Tech Crunch reports.

The tech could prove particularly useful for military applications like DARPA’s Big Dog, which just recently had its first taste of real-world action.

NRA Women’s Tatiana Whitlock says it’s important to match your conceal carry style to your outfit of the day. People wear different types of clothing for different occasions, and often, one conceal carry method won’t work for them all.

Whitlock advises choosing a carry position that will effectively conceal the pistol. She also says it’s a good idea to become familiar with drawing from your everyday wear, and sometimes even walks onto the range in a suit and high heels.

I have to admit, I still have a mixed opinion on the SIG P224. I just can’t get over how short the grip is, and I can barely keep my ring finger on it. And in .357 SIG or .40 S&W a one and one half finger grip is just hard for me to hang on to.

But if you can deal with that it’s an excellent way to carry a “Classic” P-series pistol just about anywhere, without losing much in terms of capacity.

For anyone with reservations about shooting a gun built using a see-through nylon lower receiver…

In case you missed the announcement, the Tennessee Arms Company has put their prototype transparent polymer lower into full production. These neat lowers let you see right into the fire control group as it’s working and as you can see with the video, let you know exactly how much you’ve got left in the mag, provided you also use transparent magazines.

Of course these are show pieces not workhorse lowers. But hey, for less than $60 you can try one out for yourself and still be out less than your average forged lower.
