Teacher Threatens to Shoot Unruly Third-Grade Class

Thu, 09/19/2024 - 07:30

Lack of discipline and excessive behavioral problems exhibited by students in the classroom are frequently discussed topics these days. There are many theories on what is causing the issue—soft parenting and lax rules enforcement in schools, social disruptions created by the pandemic, an absence of corporal punishment, the absence of God, broken homes—and just as many theories on how to fix the problem. Back in the Dark Ages when I was still in high school, I once watched a gym teacher bounce a basketball off the head of a kid who wasn’t paying attention after he had repeatedly told the kid to quit talking.

Date Set For Court Review Of Florida’s Young Adult Gun Purchase Ban

Wed, 09/18/2024 - 09:30

An October 22 start date has been announced for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to begin hearing arguments in the National Rifle Association’s case challenging Florida’s ban on long gun purchase by adults 18 to 20 years old.

In early March, a three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court upheld the ban in the case NRA v. Bondi, ruling the restriction constitutional under the Second Amendment.

In 2018, the state hastily passed the law following the tragic mass murder at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The strange tale of Memphis city officials attempting to get three anti-gun questions on the November ballot despite the proposals violating Tennessee’s firearms pre-emption law has taken a new twist.

As we reported in late July, Memphis city leaders approved several anti-gun measures to appear on the ballot on election day in an attempt to amend the city charter, despite Republican state lawmakers threatening to withhold millions of dollars of state funding if they proceeded with the scheme.

Ruger LC Charger 5.7: Review

Tue, 09/17/2024 - 15:30

It’s been 30 years since the zippy little 5.7×28 cartridge was introduced, it it was only in August of Anno Domini 2024 that the round was officially accepted by SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute). While the round was popularized early on in the FN P90 (and its video game incarnations), the round has found its way into more conventional firearms as well. Such is the case with the Ruger LC Charger, a large-frame pistol design released in 2023 that many have dubbed the “MP7 at home.”

Latest Would-Be Trump Assassin Broke Numerous Gun Laws

Tue, 09/17/2024 - 11:30

The second would-be presidential assassin in just two months should never have possessed a firearm because of his status as a convicted felon.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has an arrest history showing more than 100 contacts with law enforcement going back to the 1990s, which includes both felony and misdemeanor convictions.

Routh reportedly smiled and laughed while walking into federal court for his arraignment Monday morning. He was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.

New Hampshire vs. Massachusetts, An Argument for National Reciprocity

Tue, 09/17/2024 - 09:30

Two New Hampshire men charged in separate incidents with unlawful possession of a gun have challenged Massachusetts firearm law. Dean Donnell Jr. and Phillip Marquis are both legal gun owners and residents of New Hampshire, a state that issues carry permits for purposes of reciprocity but otherwise observes constitutional carry, meaning that no license is necessary to open or conceal carry within the state. Attorneys for the men argue that Massachusetts felony charges, under the state’s strict firearm laws, are a violation of their Constitutional rights.

Kentucky Lawmaker Pushes Waiting Period Following I-75 Shooting

Tue, 09/17/2024 - 08:00

Following a deranged whack job opening fire on a busy interstate highway last week, some Kentucky lawmakers have decided that a waiting period would be just the ticket to stop a violent person from acting out the violence they are planning in their head.

According to a story posted at spectrumnews1.com, authorities are searching for Joseph Couch, who allegedly opened fire on cars traveling along I-75 on September 7. Since Couch allegedly bought gun and ammunition only hours before the attack, one state representative, Democrat Rep.

Kamala’s Fast Flip-Flops On Guns

Mon, 09/16/2024 - 15:30

Give it to Kamala Harris. The woman told us in her first of two interviews that her values have not changed. Moreover, she has always supported gun bans and gun confiscation that she euphemistically terms “mandatory buybacks.” Last Tuesday night, she chided President Trump for his “continuous lying” about her desire to take people’s guns away. After all, she claimed, she and Timmy are gun owners.

KAMALA: “We're not taking anybody's guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff."

(FACT CHECK: Harris previously supported mandatory buyback programs for certain firearms.

Bill of Rights To Grant Unrestricted Firearm Freedom Proposed in Alberta

Mon, 09/16/2024 - 09:30

While firearms have largely been a federal affair in Canada, one province is taking matters into its own hands, declaring an unfettered right to own and use guns as part of a more comprehensive Bill of Rights. The United Conservative Party (UCP) board approved the new gun rights law which was carefully crafted to deny any opportunity for intentional misinterpretation that could be used for future infringement, as has been the case with the Second Amendment in the United States.

Ignorance With A Platform: Reading This Op-Ed Will Make You Dumber

Mon, 09/16/2024 - 07:30

Sometimes when reading through news stories and Op-Eds involving firearms and the ongoing debate over private gun ownership I have to stop and think, “Wait, did I really just read that?”

Such was the case concerning a recent Op-Ed written by Brian Lyman and posted at blackbeltnewsnetwork.com. The headline, “Gun legislation likely jammed in the chamber because firearm fantasies likely cloud real tragedies caused by guns,” was fairly cute, what with the “jammed in the chamber” play on words.

In its first television ad buy of the 2024 election cycle, the National Rifle Association (NRA) is targeting a Democrat U.S. senator from Montana with a $2 million advertising campaign.

According to a Fox News report, the gun-rights organization is running the 30-second ad in an attempt to unseat Sen. John Tester, who has held the seat since 2006.
