The Truth About Guns
Dem Who Wanted Gun Insurance Mandated Now Running for State’s Insurance Commissioner Office
In a move that should surprise no one familiar with how many Democratic Party politicians operate, SAF’s Gun Mag Editor in Chief Dave Workman is reporting that Washington State Senator Patty Kuderer, who earlier this year sponsored a bill to require all gun owners to obtain liability insurance is now running to become the state’s next insurance commissioner.
Kuderer’s proposed measure, Senate Bill 5963, never made it out of committee, Gun Mag reports.
Paradise Lost: Another American Arrested in Turks and Caicos for Ammo in Bag
Another American tourist was arrested at Howard Hamilton International Airport in Turks and Caicos on Monday after ammunition was allegedly found in their luggage during a routine security check, according to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police and Breitbart. This latest arrest brings the total number of Americans facing charges for ammunition possession in the British territory to five.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police did not disclose the name or gender of the person arrested, but NBC 10 Boston reported that the tourist was a woman.
People’s Republic of Delaware: State to Require a Permit to Purchase Handguns
Delaware Governor John Carney is following in the footsteps of the state’s not-so-favorite son Joe Biden and is scheduled to sign extreme Permit to Purchase legislation in Dover today. Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 2 (SB 2) will impose a Maryland-style “handgun qualified purchase card” and a handgun transfer registry, creating a perpetual cycle of costs and delays to maintain your ability to purchase a handgun.
SB 2 requires citizens to obtain a deceptively named “handgun qualified purchaser permit” to purchase or receive a handgun, with an exemption for carry permit holders.

A 71-year-old man was fatally shot in self-defense after allegedly threatening a family with a gun on their property, NBC News Yakima is reporting.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired on May 11 at 3:30 p.m. They found the 71-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound and located the 27-year-old shooter, who told police he acted to protect his family. A small pistol was found on the deceased man.
Witnesses corroborated the shooter’s account with video evidence and statements.
REC7 DI Redux: Popular Barrett Rifle Back in Production This Summer
Barrett Firearms’ once popular REC7 DI rifle is set to hit the market in summer 2024 after a production pause due to the MK 22 contract.
The MK 22 contract was a nearly $50 million, five-year contract Barrett received from the U.S. Army in 2021 to supply their MK 22 Multi-Role Adaptive Design (MRAD) rifle to the branch to be used as the Army’s new sniper rifle. To ramp up for the large, high-profile contract, Barrett had to dedicated much of its production capacity to the MK 22 and put a pause on civilian production of the REC7 DI.
Yes, You CAN Travel with Your Firearm this Summer. But Plan Ahead
Thinking of traveling this summer? You’re not alone. Millions and millions of people hit the road or take to the not-so-friendly skies when the kids get out of school. But, what if you want to take your gun along? Can you? In this article, I want to tell you that you probably can, but there are a few things you need to know.
To those of us who regularly travel the country (and maybe even beyond) with our firearms, this article might seem a little silly.
Happy Mother’s Day, Chicago-Style: 5 Homicides, 26 Wounded
How does Chicago celebrate Mother’s Day? Sadly, it’s not a joke. In a day set aside to revere mothers nationwide, Chicago’s gang bangers and criminal class opt instead to deliver hot lead instead of flowers. The final body count, tallied by the fine folks at HeyJackass.com: 5 homicides and 26 wounded.
Why, it’s almost like the Wild West. Oh wait. The Wild West was probably safer.
Moreover, the so-called “Wild West” didn’t have any of the gun control that Illinois residents suffer under today.

House Committee Shines a Light on “Soft-on-Crime” DAs and Politicians
The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee held a field hearing in Philadelphia focused on the rampant and continuing crime problem plaguing the city. There might not have been a better choice of location to which Congressional Representatives could travel.
Philadelphia is a major metropolitan center and like many others saw historic surges of crime in the past several years, with the City of Brotherly Love marking an astonishing record 526 homicides in 2021.
Memphis Media Gets Hysterical About Glock Switches, Proves That Gun Control Can’t Survive The Future
A recent news report out of Tennessee shows us that not only is media continuing to be hysterical about guns, but also that gun control continues to fail as technology outpaces the core idea behind it.
Let’s start by watching the emotionally-laden scare-coverage:
Right off, the newscaster tells us that a “switch” can turn a handgun into a “weapon of war.” So, you know pretty fast what kind of reporting we can expect for the rest of the segment.
13-Year-Old Chicago Girl Shot While Trying to Carjack CCW Holder
Local residents, indeed people nationwide, were distressed to learn that a 13-year-old girl was shot in Chicago last Tuesday morning just before school. How could such a thing happen to a young child on her way to school?
Then, days later, we learned that the young woman and her 14-year-old male accomplice weren’t on their way to school. Or maybe they were on the way to school. One thing is more certain. Cops say that at 7:49 am, the team tried to carjack a woman of her SUV on Chicago’s south side.
Judge Fast-Tracks Review of ATF’s Universal Background Check Rule Amid Legal Challenge by GOA, Texas
A federal judge has expedited the legal proceedings against a new rule by the ATF that mandates universal background checks on private firearm sales. U.S. District Court Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk’s decision on Friday sets the stage for a rapid review of the contentious rule, which has faced strong opposition from gun rights advocates and several states.
The rule, slated to be enforced starting May 20, 2024, would significantly expand the scope of background checks, requiring them even in private transactions that have traditionally been exempt.
Barely Legal Yet Positively Awesome: The M1A Scout Squad in Illinois
Thanks to the crypto currency Solana’s meteoric rise earlier this year, I could afford my own copy of the “great gun” Guns Save Life selected for our Great Guns 2024 drawing. For those who missed it, the Illinois gun rights group GSL likes to give away a really nice firearm every year in a multi-month drawing. Springfield’s M1A Scout Squad got the nod this year thanks in part to the state’s sloppily-written gun and magazine ban.
Maine Democrats Fail To Override Veto On AWB Measure
An effort by anti-gun lawmakers to overturn Maine Gov. Janet Mills’ veto of the state’s “assault weapon” ban legislation has failed.
On Friday, the state Senate voted 18-16 to overturn the governor’s veto of LD 2086. However, that vote fell far short of the two-thirds needed to overturn the veto.
While referred to as a “bump stock ban” by supporters in the legislature, the measure actually would have gone far beyond banning those devices.

Activist Shareholder Suit Against Smith & Wesson Lawsuit Dismissed
While most gun owners respect everyone’s First Amendment rights as much as their Second Amendment rights, let’s face it, it doesn’t always work the other way around. In fact, as we’re seeing on a lot of college campuses in the United States right now, activism is often the work of spoiled people with too much time on their hands and little true understanding of what they are advocating for. In reality, they are quite simply: annoying AF.
ATF Likely to Dodge Accountability Bullet in Arkansas Shooting Death
It appears no one will be held criminally accountable for ATF’s botched March 19 raid, during which 53-year-old Little Rock airport executive Bryan Malinowski was shot and killed in his own home. The post-shooting investigation is as flawed as ATF’s choice of tactics, which caused the killing.
Whenever a law enforcement officer kills someone, two separate investigations take place. The first is usually conducted by local officials who determine whether the officer should be charged with murder.

Biden’s War on Gun Owners is Obvious
President Joe Biden’s relentless rebukes of the firearm industry and law-abiding gun owners isn’t just an infringement on our Second Amendment rights – it’s a calculated and well-financed attack on the fabric of American liberty. President Biden calls the firearm industry “the enemy” and his administration is systematically attempting to dismantle the industry and pander to the whims of radical gun control lobbyists. The evidence is clear, and the statistics damning.
The Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) recently finalized a rule that made a 90-day firearm export “pause” permanent policy and created burdensome regulatory requirements.

Gun Review: The S&W M&P Metal Performance Center SPEC
Polymer frame striker-fired handguns are affordable, lightweight and reliable in most models. But striker-fired guns don’t have to be made of affordable polymer at all times. There is room for metal frames in order to improve fit and feel and heft. Smith & Wesson’s Military & Police 9mm is one of these guns and offers superior ergonomics with a trigger that in the new 2.0 version is greatly improved.
The pistol was introduced with an optional aluminum frame some months back and is more expensive to be certain and not for everyone.

Firearms Industry Surpasses $17 Billion in Pittman-Robertson Excise Tax Contributions to Conservation
Firearms and ammunition manufacturers have topped $17 billion in excise tax contributions to the Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund since its inception in 1937, the NSSF reported. When adjusted for inflation, the total is more than $27.38 billion. The latest Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) Collection report released by the Department of the Treasury, covering the 4th Quarter Calendar Year 2023, indicates that firearm and ammunition manufacturers contributed more than $222 million.
“The entire firearm and ammunition industry celebrates this milestone that demonstrates our commitment to wildlife conservation for all Americans,” said NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi.
