The Truth About Guns
ShootingTheBull410 on the NAA Black Widow
Many of you were intrigued by Jeremy’s recent review of the NAA .22LR mini revolver and wondered how effective it would be in a self-defense situation. Well, ask and ye shall receive. ShootingTheBull410 had previously tested North American Arms’ slightly larger Black Widow .22 Magnum mini with Scorpion rifle ammo because, hey, it was in stock and nothing else really was. The results were decidedly meh. Fortunately, one of his viewers came through with some Gold Dots made specifically for short-barreled pistols, so he’s back with a new test — and the results are vastly better. Pop some of Redenbacher’s finest, settle in and press play.
Quote of the Day: Knowing Right From Wrong Edition
“Americans are not required to justify their need to exercise a fundamental right. If the government can force you to provide a reason to exercise your right, then it’s no longer a right.” – Lawyer Alan Gura, quoted in Is This the Supreme Court’s Next Big Gun Case? [via reason.com]
BREAKING: Facebook Pulls the Plug on Everytown for Gun Safety Page
Well that didn’t take long. Facebook has pulled the plug on the page Everytown for Gun Safety. You may recall that pro-gun forces assumed control of the page last week, after Mayor Bloomberg launched his Everytown for Gun Safety anti-NRA lobby group. The Mayor’s majordomo laughed off the missing link, challenging the page’s [temporary] owners to a duel. While we expected the billionaire anti-ballistics bully boys to prevail, what with trademark lawyers parachuting in to rectify the oversight, we didn’t expect the Everytown page to last long. It didn’t. However . . . there are now dozens of local Everytown for Gun Safety pages run by gun rights advocates. All of which are still on-line. For now.
Quote of the Day: More to Lose Means Playing to Win Edition
“Anti-gunners will never be as committed as NRA members because they really have nothing at stake. With homicides running under 10,000 per year out of a population of more than 300 million people, it is very unlikely that any anti-gunner will be killed by a gun. But if you are a law-abiding gun owner, the possibility of legislation restricting your right is much more likely to affect you.” – Commentator Rimfire underneath Can Michael Bloomberg really build a gun-control lobby bigger than the NRA? Daily Digest: Brass Balls Edition
A professor at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey was suspended after some idiots in the college administration wildly misinterpreted a photo on Google+ of the professor’s 7-year-old daughter. [People use Google+ ?] The girl [not shown] was wearing a tshirt that said “I will take what is mine with fire and blood,” and some idiot saw it as a possible threat against a dean at the school. That slogan, for those unaware, is a quote from Daenerys Targaryen in season 2 of Game of Thrones on HBO. This is just the latest step in a convoluted situation involving contract disputes and allegations of retaliation, and the professor was reinstated with back pay, but you’re reading about it here because in the mind of at least one school official . . .
...Video: Full Auto SIG SAUER MPX in Slow Motion
The whole point of the MP5 is to have a small, easily concealable, maneuverable weapon. And while H&K’s design is pretty good, it can be so much better. Lighter magazines that don’t jam. Controls like the common AR-15, not a completely new platform that soldiers need to familiarize themselves with and train for. Mission configurable in the field. Easy to disassemble. And, most important, actually making the damn things accurate. If memory serves, the acceptance test for an MP5SD was a mean radius of 8 inches at 100 yards for the shot pattern, which is nowhere near the accuracy you’d want. The MPX fixes all of these things, and looks awesome doing it. We’ll have a review when they finally hit the civilian shelves, but for now enjoy the full auto goodness.

Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day: Dana All Laws
Those of you keeping score at home, get out your No. 2 pencils. Shirtless wanna-be white rapper? Check. Flat-billed cocked baseball cap? Right. Totally street ink? Fer sher. Unintelligible (other than the cursing) lyrics? Yep. Casually waved nickel plated nine? Uh huh. Add that all up using the current cultural calculus and you come up with…hold on…carry the seven…got it — insufferable douchebag. While it looks genuine enough, according to theblaze.com, there’s some debate as to whether it’s real or Memorex. If it actually happened, we hope he didn’t plug his mommy through the wall in the next room. And if Mr. All Laws will send us his address (guntruth@me.com), we’ll be more than happy to send him the IGOTD trophy he so richly deserves. [h/t DrVino]
