Is This the Longest Pistol Barrel Ever Made?

Mon, 04/20/2015 - 16:09

No, the image above is not from some strange live-action Looney Tunes rebootAccording to Jeremy S., the uploader of the video the image is taken from, the barrel sticking out of the business end of his CZ P-09’s frame is a full meter long. Apparently he was seeking a barrel that was just three inches longer than the standard 4.5 inches, but the metal supplier could only provide pipes in one-foot and one-meter lengths. He decided to have a little fun with both before cutting them down. Understandably, the pistol has trouble functioning properly with both. Check ‘em out in the video below.

WATCH: Man Wrestling Wild Hog Gets Flipped on His Back

Fri, 04/17/2015 - 08:40

Tusks or no tusks, wild pigs can be dangerous animals. Hunting them can be riskier than many sportsmen bargain for, and trying to wrestle one can be downright foolhardy. This trapper in East Texas found himself a bit out of his element as he tried to wrangle a large sow into a cage. Notice how the pig repeatedly went after his legs. Both male and female hogs use tusks for defense, and if this one had a set, no doubt it would have tried to gore the man.

Thankfully, though, the trapper survived the event with little more than possibly a few bruises, and the indignity of being flipped onto his back by a sow. There are probably better ways to coax the pig into a cage, but you can’t fault this man for being a little adventurous.

WATCH: Grouper Won’t Take No for an Answer

Fri, 04/17/2015 - 08:37

If there is one fish that seems to have an utter disdain for humans, it’s the grouper. Large or small, groupers are about as polite as a hungry warthog and will think little of giving you a hard nip if you get too close. This group of divers learned the hard way that if you want to take fish out of a grouper’s territory, you’ll have to get it past them first.

It seems that the divers had collected a small lionfish, an invasive and environmentally destructive fish in many places, and the grouper decided it was in the mood for a quick snack.

Cat-eating Monitor Lizards Invade Florida, Officials Ask Public for Help

Wed, 04/15/2015 - 19:30

They are large, they are hungry, and they have been in Florida since at least the early 1990s. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Nile monitor lizards have breeding populations in at least three counties and have been sighted across the state. On warm days, the lizards can be seen basking in the sun along the waterways in Palm Beach County, or even sauntering on beaches. Since surveys of the species started last year, officials have become increasingly worried over what kind of effect the lizard could have on the state. This is especially true since the monitors seem intent on eating just about anything that comes within reach.

Black Rhino Extinct? Texas Hunter Corey Knowlton Pays $350k To Kill A Rhino And Save The Species

Wed, 04/15/2015 - 19:28

Is the black rhino extinct? The western black rhino became officially extinct in 2013, but now a Texas hunter named Corey Knowlton has won the right to kill a different sub-species of the black rhino and bring it home to the United States as a trophy. While killing the black rhinos in order to save them may sound counter-intuitive, Knowlton says that’s exactly the plan which will work.

Large Alligator Jumps On Alabama Dock & Eats Dog

Wed, 04/15/2015 - 19:24

Hungry reptiles don’t distinguish between humans and animals when it sees a prey as its next meal. Just weeks after a crocodile was seen by horrified British tourists eating a man while they were on a cruise on a river in Zimbabwe in March, a 100-pound dog was the next victim of a large alligator.

Have You Ever Seen an Albino Tortoise?

Tue, 04/14/2015 - 15:53

Albino tortoises and turtles are unique among albino animals in that they are not relatively rare, and are able to survive pretty well in the wild due to their tough shells. Unlike other species, albino tortoises and turtles also seem to cope better with any health problems associated with their albinism, making them popular among breeders in captivity.

Keep in mind though, this cute sulcuta tortoise can live up to 150 years and is one of the largest of its kind, with the heaviest specimens weighing more than 200 pounds. This is one pet that you’ll have to prepare long in advance for.

Tue, 04/14/2015 - 14:49

Are armadillos bulletproof? A freak accident in Lee County, Georgia has law enforcement asking that very question after a local man shot one of the critters, only to have the ricochet hit his mother-in-law. According to WALB, the shooting happened on Sunday when Larry McElroy fired his 9x19mm pistol at an armadillo outside. The animal died as a result of the injury, but the bullet ricocheted off its shell, went through a fence, and pierced a nearby mobile home, eventually striking his mother-in-law in the back. KHQ reported that the shot was made 100 yards away from the home.

The Washington University Row team was practicing on a lake in Missouri, when Asian carp started flying out of the water, according to CNN.

CNN’s Benjamin Rosenbaum was observing the team practice when the incident occurred.
