Arkansas Angler Catches Piranha, Nearly Loses Finger
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (GFC) has confirmed that a piranha was caught in Lake Bentonville last week, and it nearly took a finger along with it.
According to 5News, Robert Headley reeled in the fish after mistaking it for a large perch. After removing the hook (and nearly being bitten in the process) and noting the fish’s shape and large teeth, the angler contacted wildlife officials and a GFC biologist arrived at the lake to examine the creature…

Canvass Care: Extend Your T-Top Life by Years
Canvass, whether it’s stretched out across your T-top or it merely covers your boat when not in use, is one of those things we expect to replace. We know it has a limited lifetime, and eventually will start ripping, leaking, and sagging. What many boaters don’t realize is that this lifetime can be extended—by several years—by taking a few simple steps.
...A sea lion was hungry …
A San Diego man is still recovering more than three weeks after a sea lion leaped seven feet from the water, locked onto his hand holding a yellow-tail fish and yanked him overboard.
Dan Carlin, 62, said that his wife had just told him to smile for the photo on their 29 foot boat when he was pulled overboard, smashed into the boat’s side, and taken some 20 feet underwater.
Carlin says he thought he was going to die until he was released more than 15 seconds later. The sea lion bit him on his foot as he swam away.

WATCH: Snarling Raccoons Attack Coyote over Squirrel Meat
If you’ve never heard an angry raccoon growl before, it’s likely to send a shiver down your spine. These masked critters can be downright frightening when provoked, yet the coyote in the video below was just too hungry to leave its meal behind.
Two raccoons tried to the scavenger off what appears to be a squirrel carcass, but the dogged coyote kept coming back to snag one last bite. This trail cam happened to be just in the right place at the right time and recorded a pursuit that looks like it came straight out of a cartoon.

Oklahoma Man Lands Largest Fish in State History
Last Thursday, an Oklahoma angler crushed the record for the largest fish ever caught in the state with an alligator gar that weighed a staggering 254 pounds. Paul Easley of Mead snagged the beast of a fish in Lake Texoma last week and was able to have the fish certified by a state wildlife biologist before releasing the eight-foot gar back into the water.
“It did swim off,” Matt Mauck, regional fisheries supervisor for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC), told The Oklahoman. “They made their best attempt to get it back in the water alive. She did not appear to need any encouragement to leave…”
