Gun Review: Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey Semi-Auto Shotgun

Mon, 06/13/2022 - 16:00

Let me start by saying I’m not a turkey hunter. That’s why when Dan assigned me the Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey shotgun at SHOT Show, I wasn’t expecting much that would hold my interest. What I found was a truly awesome shotgun that will not only take gobblers with ease, but would also be a practical home defense shotgun and a mighty nice tactical shotgun.

Mossberg produces both an 18.5-inch and 24-inch versions of the 940 Pro Turkey.

Silencer Shop Gets ATF Approval for Remote eForm 4 Completion

Mon, 06/13/2022 - 15:00

From Silencer Shop . . .

Silencer Shop, the nation’s largest NFA distributor, is pleased to announce an improvement to the ATF eForm 4 submission process. Until recently, ATF required Individual registrants to complete the eForm 4 “while physically present” at the dealer. Silencer Shop has been in communication with ATF and working hard to remove that instruction. This month, ATF confirmed in writing to Silencer Shop that the instruction would be removed and last week, it was officially deleted.

While the Media are Already All-In on the Senate Gun Control Deal, It Still Has a Long Way to Go

Mon, 06/13/2022 - 12:00

By Lee Williams

If the legacy media had their way, your front door would explode and seconds later you’d be hip-deep in armed gun-grabbers delivering butt-strokes to your noggin until you surrendered the combination to your gun safe. That’s the level of anti-gun bias today’s legacy media uses whenever they report on anything related to guns or the Second Amendment. Their recent stories on developments in the Senate are no exception to this rule.

FN’s Upgraded Five-seveN MK3 MRD Pistol Has an Optics-Ready Slide, Better Ergonomics

Mon, 06/13/2022 - 10:00

FN has updated their popular, powerful FN Five-seveN 5.7×28 pistol. The new Five-Seven MRD is now optics-ready and ships with a series of plates for virtually any optic you’ll want to mount.

I got to spend some range time with the upgraded Five-seveN MK3 MRD a few months ago. The ergonomic changes make a big noticeable difference in the pistol’s shootability and FN’s out-of-the-box optics mounting plate system make adding a red dot quick, easy and simple.

Sun, 06/12/2022 - 13:10

A group of Senators have announced that they’ve reached a bipartisan deal on a framework for legislation they say will do something about “gun violence.” According to The Hill, “The framework includes funding for school safety measures and mental health, a requirement to review juvenile records for firearm buyers under 21 years old and incentives for states to implement ‘red flag’ laws.”

The deal was pushed through by Connecticut’s Chris Murphy and Texas’s John Cornyn.

Mass Shooters Are Fueled by the Hatred and Division Sewn by the Politics of the Left

Sun, 06/12/2022 - 13:00

By Miguel A. Faria, Jr, MD

We could say that all mass shootings are inspired by hatred, but many are carried out by deranged individuals, susceptible to violence and possessing no clear and distinct political or religious motives. These disturbed, mentally unstable people are unhinged by the strain of the postmodern age and what they see and experience.

They are receptive to the influences of the perverse degeneration of the popular culture, media sensationalism, and the pursuit of celebrity status, even if they pay with their own lives to achieve the dubious notoriety they seek.

Chronic Wasting Disease and How It’s Killing Deer and Elk in North America

Sun, 06/12/2022 - 10:00

By Allan Houston, University of Tennessee

Chronic wasting disease, a deadly neurological infectious disease that affects deer, elk and moose, is spreading across North America. Most recently detected in North Carolina in March 2022, CWD has been confirmed in 30 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces, as well as Norway, Finland, Sweden and South Korea. Dr. Allan Houston, a professor of forest and wildlife ecology at the University of Tennessee’s 18,400-acre Ames AgResearch and Education Center in western Tennessee, explains what is known about CWD and what wildlife scientists are trying to learn.

Shoot or GTFO – What Would You Do?

Sat, 06/11/2022 - 16:00

Let’s say you’re visiting a relative and they step out to run an errand, leaving you alone. Then a total stranger boldly walks into the house without permission. Then they become “disruptive.”

What do you do?

A Miramar, Florida man faced exactly that situation earlier this week and shot the intruder, killing him. It turned out that, according to media reports, the homeowner knew the man. Exactly what that means isn’t clear.

California Shelter: You Can’t Adopt a Pet Unless You Support More Gun Control Laws

Sat, 06/11/2022 - 13:00

By Patrick Carroll

An animal shelter in California recently announced they will no longer be doing business with anyone who is against gun control. The organization, called Shelter Hope Pet Shop, is located in Thousand Oaks and owned by Kim Sill.

The shelter has a standard list of questions they ask potential adopters to make sure they will be able to take care of their new pet. For example, they ask about the home the pet will be living in, and they make sure the potential owner is at least 25 and can provide a current driver’s license.

Dix: These Are The 6 Deadly Lies Told By The Gun Industry

Sat, 06/11/2022 - 08:00

The most pervasive lie is that guns are a good means of protection. But compared to people without firearm access, those with access to firearms are about twice as likely to die in homicides, and three times as likely to die by suicide. If guns really provided protection, our nation, which is home to more guns than people, would have lower homicide and suicide rates.

A second lie is the fundamentalist view of the Second Amendment that claims any type of gun regulation to be unconstitutional.

Fish & Wildlife Service Plans to Phase Out Traditional Lead Ammo on Public Lands by 2026

Fri, 06/10/2022 - 16:00

The ATF isn’t the only federal regulatory agency that is newly dedicated to making life even more difficult and expensive for gun owners since the current occupant of the White House was inaugurated. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is also on board the hoplophobic express. They’d been hinting for months about once again mandating lead-free ammunition on private lands based on sketchy claims that using lead-free ammunition benefits wildlife.

The USFWS had tried to slip in a similar ban in the last days of the Obama administration, but it was reversed when Trump took office.

Are Armed Teachers Outperforming School Resource Officers?

Fri, 06/10/2022 - 14:00

In the current push for more gun control in America, lots of old “data” is being tossed around. Some of it is good information, and much of it is either altogether fake or taken from poorly-designed studies. I don’t think I have to tell readers here what side of the debate most of the info falls in each category, because it’s pretty obvious. There’s one gem, however, that keeps popping up: hysteria over the supposed dangers of arming teachers.

Desperate for a Political Win, Biden Presses His Home State to Pass 3 Gun Control Bills

Fri, 06/10/2022 - 12:00

By Lee Williams

In terms of an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, Delaware has never been as bad as some of its neighbors, especially New Jersey. Delawareans can own Modern Sporting Rifles with standard-capacity magazines. They can apply for concealed-carry permits, and most are granted even though it’s a may-issue state.

Delaware is small – only three counties. Were it not for its most populous and liberal city, Wilmington, Delaware would likely be a red state.

Nancy Pelosi’s House of Bread and Circuses

Fri, 06/10/2022 - 10:00

The U.S. House of Representatives is controlled by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). She’s constantly being pushed further and further to the Left by progressive and anti-gun members of her caucus who are not interested in finding common ground on firearm safety proposals.

If the rush to place the blame on law-abiding gun owners for the tragedies in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas, didn’t give away their cynical intentions, the public House committee hearings this week on proposed gun control bills did.

FPC: The Senators Fiddle With Gun Rights as Respect for the Senate Burns

Fri, 06/10/2022 - 09:00

From the FPC . . .

Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) sent a letter today to the United States Senate demanding that the Senators engaged in closed-door gun control negotiations recall their sworn duty to protect and defend the rights of the People, and reverse course in their attempts to destroy our fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

“The Senate is projecting that it can be a moderating force in the negotiations to abrogate the fundamental human liberties of its constituents.

U.S. House Gun Control Kabuki Exposes Liberals’ Privilege

Thu, 06/09/2022 - 16:00

On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a raft of gun control proposals, narrowly passing them all, mostly along party lines. Anyone with any knowledge of the U.S. political system knows that these bills will be effectively dead on arrival in the Senate, and have just about zero chance of becoming law. Well, most of them.

While the reasons for passing these bills are complex, the main motivation is that Democrats, who narrowly control the House, want something they can take home and use in a re-election fight this year.

Gun Review: DRD Tactical Aptus Takedown Rifle

Thu, 06/09/2022 - 15:00

I believe it was around SHOT 2017 that DRD Tactical made a splash with their folding stock, AR-mag fed, side-charging takedown rifle the Aptus. I remember the awe when I first saw it as rifles of such a format are relatively uncommon. It wasn’t the first rifle like this, but it was the first time I’d seen one. Years later I finally got my hands on one and am happy to share the experience with you.
