Tue, 10/26/2021 - 16:00

What happens when you arrange to meet up with someone after midnight to sell some merchandise from a Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist ad? Nothing good, usually. Such was the case in Chicago when an unnamed 29-year-old tried to sell his Xbox. At 1 a.m. Saturday. In northwest Chicago.

The prospective buyers, aged 15 and 19, turned into armed robbers as one produced a firearm while the other snatched the game console from the seller’s hands.

What do you do with that Ruger 10/22 rifle that’s been sitting in the back of your safe? One way to give it possibilities beyond the standard stock configuration is with an aftermarket chassis. TiTech Arms (formerly RTI Manufacturing) gives you two options.

Their 1022 Chassis Rail comes in two flavors. One has an AR buffer tube to let you mount an AR stock. The other model — the one I chose — has a rear Pic rail.

San Francisco’s Assault on Law Enforcement Forces More Than 100 Families to Hire Private Security

Tue, 10/26/2021 - 10:00

Policing and law enforcement have been under attack for the last year and a half. Calls to “defund the police” are becoming a reality and the average citizen is ultimately paying the price.

Insert San Francisco, one of the epicenters of the “defund the police” movement. Not only are more officers retiring or resigning, meaning fewer cops on the street, but SF District Attorney Chesa Boudin refuses to prosecute most criminals.

“We are going to hire young people, train them, and give them jobs that set them up for long-term success in their careers,” Cuomo said on July 14 in Brooklyn, at an event where he was flanked by New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Eric Adams.

By Christopher Gist, University of South Australia and Sarah Mayberry, The University of Melbourne

In a horrendous accident, a cinematographer has died and a director has been injured after Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun while filming in New Mexico.

When shooting a film with guns, there are many choices to make: each prop needs to be appropriate for the character, and appropriate for the scene. There is also the choice of whether you will use replica weapons, real weapons, or a mix.

In fact, they’ve been sharing all manner of details about what took place on the set preceding the shooting.

Among those details: how the cast and crew used the same gun that Baldwin fired, killing Halyna Hutchins, for target practice off-set while the crew wasn’t working on the film.

Imagine a school sport where anyone and everyone can participate on a relatively equal footing. A sport where kids in wheelchairs can beat the school jocks, where girls can outscore the guys and where freshmen can compete alongside seniors.

America’s clay shooting program hits all those points and maybe that’s why it’s America’s fastest growing school sport.

In basketball or football, where the better players get most of the time on the court or field, and everyone else warms a bench.

Healing: Finding Peace Through Firearms Competition

Sun, 10/24/2021 - 12:00

Here’s the latest profile from SilencerCo’s excellent American Gun series. Genevieve doesn’t fit the demographic of what many believe to be the standard gun owner. However, firearms play a vital role in her life and the lives of many others outside this demographic.

She has struggled with severe OCD since she was a child, but more recently she developed a panic disorder so extreme she could no longer interact with the outside world.

Gear Review: Crimson Trace Rail Master Pro Light and Laser

Sat, 10/23/2021 - 16:00

When Crimson Trace sent me the CTS-1400, they also sent a Rail Master Pro. The Rail Master Pro is a combination laser and light system that predictably mounts to the rail of your weapon. It’s designed for handguns, but like most things, the Rail Master Pro can mount to anything with a Picatinny rail.

Crimson Trace made their name with their laser aiming systems. They’ve been quite creative in implementing lasers over time.

Retired Oakland Police Captain Shot in Gas Station Robbery, Kills One of His 3 Attackers

Sat, 10/23/2021 - 13:00

A highly-decorated retired police captain from the Oakland, California police department faced down three armed robbers in the lawless east by city while fueling his car. Unlike on-duty cops working Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle’s security detail in Chicagoland, Ersie Joyner didn’t surrender his gun. Instead, he went down fighting.

Even while suffering multiple bullet wounds, he killed one of his assailants and possibly wounded a second.

The attack happened near downtown Oakland in the middle of the day.

10 Reasons You Should Turn In Your Guns

Sat, 10/23/2021 - 10:00

I met the Babylon Bee’s CEO Seth Dillon at an event here in Austin a couple of weeks ago. He recounted the absurdity of his self-identified satire site being “fact checked” by what these days passes for the professional media…and Facebook then using those results to shut them down.

Dillon hinted about the uber-popular satire site getting more into video and showed those of us at the event one of their latest lulz-worthy efforts.

Update on Alec Baldwin Movie Set Shooting Death

Fri, 10/22/2021 - 17:12

Additional information continues to trickle out in the “Rust” movie on-set shooting death of director of photography Halyna Hutchins and wounding of the film’s director Joel Souza. It seems that Baldwin wore dual hats as both the star as well as the producer of the film. Authorities now acknowledge the obvious: the prop gun “loaded with blanks” was indeed a real gun that was loaded with at least one live round. And there’s more .

Employee Armed With a Shotgun Stops Workplace Active Shooter in Nebraska

Fri, 10/22/2021 - 16:00

So many workplaces across America prohibit employees from carrying their personal firearms even when legally allowed to do so. This simply means that disgruntled current or former staff can produce a gun and start shooting their fellow (or former) co-workers. But not at a grain elevator in Superior, Nebraska.

An employee grabbed a shotgun from the office and confronted an active shooter Thursday afternoon. The killer, Max Hoskinson, 61, had been fired earlier in the day.

GUNS SAVE LIFE WINS! Cook County Gun & Ammo Tax Unanimously Ruled Unconstitutional by Illinois Supreme Court

Fri, 10/22/2021 - 14:00

The Illinois Supreme Court has struck down Cook County’s gun and ammo tax as unconstitutional in a decision released yesterday. In Guns Save Life v. Ali, the state’s high court ruled the tax on an unpopular fundamental right improperly violates the Illinois Constitution’s uniformity clause.

The Cook County Board implemented $25 per gun tax on firearm purchases in 2013 to make legal gun owners help pay for gun crimes committed by gang members and other violent criminals, primarily in Chicago.

This is How Biden Would Spend Your Tax Dollars to Fight the ‘Gun Violence Public Health Crisis’

Fri, 10/22/2021 - 13:00

By Lee Williams

For gun owners, Joe Biden’s FY2022 discretionary budget plan is an assault on our individual freedoms and civil liberties, an assault that could cost us both billions of taxpayer dollars as well as our guns.

Whoever actually wrote the plan is a master of creative writing — fiction writing — to be sure.

For example, Biden’s budget plan first refers to gun violence as a “public health epidemic” in a paragraph that’s sandwiched between two legitimate epidemics: opioid addiction and AIDS.
