9mm Kurz Wunderwaffe Wettbewerb: Walther PPK vs SIG P230SL
Before the age of the micro-compact double stack polymer framed 9mm pistol, there was were two elegant, more refined (though lower capacity) options; the Walther PPK and SIG Sauer P230. They were considered by many in the second half of the 20th century to be the classic concealed carry pistols.
These guns are from a (mostly) bygone era when steel and direct blowback meant high end European quality imports from the land of Teutonic engineering wizardry known as West Germany.

Ask Josh: GLOCK-Type Pistols…Should I Build Or Buy?
Ah yes, the GLOCK 40. Or is it GLOCK Nine? Problem solver? Whichever name you pick, Gaston’s Gat needs no introduction. When it comes to the market for semi-automatic pistols today, GLOCK still holds a top spot. And as a result, there’s a huge aftermarket for parts. That aftermarket is so large that you can make a GLOCK without any actual GLOCK-brand-GLOCK parts. You know, non-GLOCK GLOCKs.
Reader Jack asked .

Texas Supreme Court Tosses Lawsuit Filed by Sutherland Springs Survivors and Families
In 2018, survivors and family members of the Sutherland Springs, Texas church shooting filed suit against Academy Sports + Outdoor for selling the shooter the rifle he used to murder 25 people. The killer, Devin Patrick Kelley, passed the NICS background check conducted during the sale because the Air Force failed to report his criminal record.
Despite the provisions of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, the families justified their lawsuit on the grounds that the killer was a Colorado resident.
Gear Review: The Aridus QD-C Quick Detach Carrier Shotgun Sidesaddle
My shotgun nerdism continues, and I’ve finally got my hands on an Aridus Industries universal QD-C sidesaddle. I purchased my Benelli M4 over a year ago and have been waiting for these to come back in stock. I was constantly missing them by what seemed like mere hours.
I missed them so often that I purchased some Esstac shotgun cards to cover my side saddle needs in the meantime. However, one June morning recently, I saw the alert from Aridus Industries, jumped on my laptop, and dialed one in.

Sorry Joe, But the Second Amendment Does Not Limit The Kinds of Guns Americans Can Own
The text of the Second Amendment is short: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds said the amendment’s few words speak for themselves.
“The Second Amendment places no limits on individual ownership of cannon, or any other arms,” Reynolds said.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards Vetoes Constitutional Carry Bill
No one expected Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards to sign the constitutional carry bill that’s been sitting on his desk. But people who watch these things in the Sportsman’s Paradise know that Edwards wants to be a Senator from Louisiana some day. That’s why many of them speculated that he’d let the bill become law without his signature, as it would have done today if the Governor had done nothing.
No such luck.

The Jaw-Dropping Lies and Ignorance of Joe Biden on the Subject of Guns
You could write a book cataloguing the dumb, false, and downright dangerous garbage that Joe Biden has spouted about guns over the years.
Americans, by the way, could absolutely own cannons during the Revolutionary Era — and long after. The very idea of any federal gun policy would have been incomprehensible to Americans at any time before the 1930s. Even then, no specific types of firearms were banned from use. It wasn’t really until 1986 when fully automatic guns were effectively restricted.

48 GOP Senators Demand the ATF Withdraw Its Proposed Ban on Pistol Stabilizing Braces
From Gun Owners of America . . .
Forty-eight Senators are demanding in a letter that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) withdraw its Proposed Rule to ban stabilizing pistol braces — a move that the Congressional Research Service reported could affect roughly 40,000,000 firearms and turn millions of gun owners into felons.
The letter states, “ATF seems to believe that re-characterizing millions of pistols as SBRs is no big deal because the agency kindly offers gun owners what it deems to be plenty of means of complying.
Dangerous, Threatening Rhetoric is the Tactic of Tyrants
By Theresa Inacker
Only tyrants threaten the use of force against their own people. On Wednesday, President Biden remarked, “If you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”
This is reminiscent of California’s infamous Chinese-spy-bedding Congressman, Eric Swalwell’s threats via Twitter back in 2018, when he said about a hypothetical war against gun owners, “And it would be a short war my friend.

Keep Your Hands Off Your Gun Until You Have a Good Reason to Touch It
Earlier this month, a South Carolina man shot himself because he wanted to show a friend his new holster. As wmbfnews.com reports, “As the victim was dropping the magazine out of the firearm, he pulled the trigger and shot himself between his left ring finger and pinky, the report stated. In other words, he was handling his loaded firearm without a good reason to do so.
Negligence like this is why we can’t have nice things.
