A History of Failure: Why the ATF Should Be Abolished

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

No one makes a better case for abolishing the ATF than the ATF.

There has never been a federal agency with so little regard for the sanctity of human life, with such a history of failure, with such antiquated duties and responsibilities, with such a propensity to overreact, with such an addiction to good press, with such a willingness to bend over for any politician in charge, and – as we currently see playing out – with such little regard for the constitutional rights of American citizens.

Missouri Police Chief Quits Over New Gun Rights Protection Law

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 08:00

I completely understand the motivation behind Missouri legislators’ desire to protect the gun rights of their citizenry. I’m a strong proponent of the Second Amendment and have always respected those rights during my four decades in law enforcement. The problem with this statute is the poorly worded language that removes sovereign immunity and appears to allow law enforcement agencies and individual police officers to be sued for even good faith justified seizures of firearms in emergency circumstances.

Service Review: Armslist’s New Pay To Play Premium Personal Service

Sun, 06/20/2021 - 13:00

Armslist, everyone’s favorite 2A-friendly Craig’slist alternative, has gone pay for play. Armslist has long had premium accounts aimed at dealers looking to advertise their wares. However, recently Armslist has begun requiring all accounts to be premium to contact or list a firearm, knife, light, or whatever a user wants to sell.

I have had a love/hate relationship with Armslist. I’ve sold a few guns over the website and bought even more. I love the idea of being able to connect with private sellers via a single website.

Man Shoots Himself in the Face After Hot Brass Ejected Into His Shirt [VIDEO]

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 15:00

If you shoot often at all, especially at an indoor range, you’ve probably experienced it. A hot empty case ejects from your pistol, bounces off the lane divider and right back at you. Sometimes it hits you and caroms off. Sometimes it finds its way between your glasses and your cheek (ask me how I know). And occasionally one will worm its way down inside your shirt.

This is why, when taking new shooters to the range, we always caution them not to wear sandals.

It’s Important to Counter Media-Driven ‘Assault Weapon’ Misinformation Whenever We Can

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 13:00

Reading the letters to the editor of mainstream media outlets is a great way to highlight the fact that a large portion of the population consumes and falls for fall for their narratives. This gets particularly sobering when you realize that many of these same people also vote.

Case in point: someone named Tom Halfhill recently wrote a letter to the San Francisco Chronicle regarding “assault weapons” and Judge Roger Benitez’s ruling striking down California’s ban.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Introduces a Bill to Abolish The ATF

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 10:00

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Thursday introduce House Resolution 3960, known as the “Brian A. Terry Memorial Eliminate the ATF Act.” The goal of the legislation is to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Greene introduced the bill in honor of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was killed in the line of duty. The firearm used in his murder was part of the ATF’s botched Fast and Furious gun-running operation, put in place during the Obama administration.

OMG! Open Carry is Legal and I Saw Someone Actually Doing It! OMG!

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 08:00

I have no idea if this guy is stable or mentally ill. Is he bothered by the heat and have a short fuse today? What if someone makes him mad and he has poor impulse control? I’m not willing to risk my life for groceries, so I just left Trader Joe’s. #GroceryGun @MomsDemand pic.twitter.com/Y7gmsjO4FR

Good Guy With a Gun Mistakenly Shot and Killed By Phoenix Police [VIDEO]

Fri, 06/18/2021 - 14:00

A recent officer-involved-shooting in Phoenix presents a host of lessons we can all learn from. A responding police officer there mistakenly shot a good guy with a gun as he held a pair of shoplifters at gunpoint. Both parties made mistakes, but William Brookins, 39, paid for his well-meaning good Samaritanism with his life.

Brookins, the good guy, apparently observed a pair of shoplifters fleeing a store. Riding passenger in an SUV, he had the driver pursue the pair to a nearby parking lot where he confronted them at gunpoint.

DOJ to Missouri: Your New Law Doesn’t Nullify Federal Gun Control Laws

Fri, 06/18/2021 - 10:00

By Jason Balsamo, AP

The Justice Department is warning Missouri officials that the state can’t ignore federal law, after the governor signed a bill last week that bans police from enforcing federal gun rules.

In a letter sent Wednesday night and obtained by The Associated Press, Justice officials said the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause outweighs the measure that Gov. Mike Parson signed into law Saturday. The new rules penalize local police departments if their officers enforce federal gun laws.

San Jose, CA Passes Law Mandating Video Taping of Gun Sales

Fri, 06/18/2021 - 08:00

“This set of ordinances is really focused on narrowing the flow of guns to those which are clearly legal and hopefully doing something to deter the flow of guns that are unlawful to own.”

— San Jose, California Mayor Sam Liccardo quoted in the San Jose Mercury News

Ummm…what? I cannot think of any way in which mandating that gun sales at licensed dealers (the only kind allowed in California) are audio-video recorded will further either of those goals.

At Least Some Federal Legislators Know the Purpose of the Second Amendment

Fri, 06/18/2021 - 08:00

The Second Amendment is not written for sporting. The Second Amendment is so that if a tyrannical government ever wants to rise up, we can stop them. And if anybody ever wants to say, “Oh, well you know what? Citizens with a few small arms fire would never be able to stop the federal government.”

I absolutely disagree. Ask the Viet Cong how they handled the Marines and the Army in Vietnam.

Thu, 06/17/2021 - 20:45

Governor Greg Abbott held a signing ceremony at the Alamo in San Antonio this morning to sign into law seven bills designed to extend and protect the right to keep and bear arms in the Lone Star State. It was a clean sweep for gun rights supporters in the just-completed legislative session, one of the most successful ever.

The most prominent of the seven bills is, of course, HB 1927, the one that makes Texas the 21st constitutional carry state in the nation.
