The Truth About Guns

Dunbar-Ortiz: America’s Gun Problem is Rooted in White Nationalism
The Progressive magazine asked a few, uh, distinguished scholars what can be done about “gun violence” in America. Here’s the response of one historian, activist and author . . .
In brief: a reckoning with U.S. history. The elephant in the room is the Second Amendment.
U.S. citizens, not only white men or members of the National Rifle Association, accept the notion of sanctity associated with the Second Amendment, as with the Constitution as a whole.
Take Your Range Time to the Next Level With Caldwell AR500 Steel Targets
The only thing better than getting in some good range time is range time spent shooting at steel targets. There’s nothing quite like that satisfying ‘PING’ when lead meats hardened steel, giving you the instant feedback you need.

Biden Administration Decides to Re-Fund the Police While Pushing Further Gun Control Policies
President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday announced the administration’s latest push to crack down on crime through a number of gun control policies.
According to Biden, limitations can be placed on the Second Amendment. He made the argument that Americans will never have the same types of weapons as the federal government. And even attempted to channel Eric Swalwell . . .
“The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun, what type of weapon you could own.
NPR Understates US Sanctuary Counties – There Aren’t 400, there are 1,930
Taxpayer funded National Public Radio tries to downplay and trivialize the Second Amendment Sanctuary movement, without letting the facts get in their way.
By Lee Williams
To be clear, there are 1,930 counties that have now become Second Amendment sanctuaries, which is more than 61% of all the counties in the United States.
Of these counties, 1,137 made the decision to protect the Second Amendment on their own. The rest are located in the 15 states — the most recent being Texas — that declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, according to Noah Davis of sanctuarycounties.com and its companion site constitutionalsanctuaries.com.
New York Counties to Governor Cuomo: Don’t Sign This Anti-Gun Bill Into Law
They’ve watched as the Empire State’s staunchly antigun legislature continues to attack their Second Amendment right and the industry that supports it. Now New York county legislatures are raising their collective voices, trying to stop Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo from doing what comes naturally – suffocating the rights of law-abiding New Yorkers from purchasing and possessing firearms.
It’s crunch time in New York for the firearm industry.
Inalienable Right, Not Public Nuisance
Antigun legislators hold supermajorities in both the State Assembly and State Senate.
Biden Set To Announce New Push To Shut Down More FFLs To Fight Violent Crime (Or Something)
After a year of defunded police, prosecutors who don’t prosecute, jails releasing inmates and zero bail laws, crime has, well, skyrocketed. It started early in the pandemic last year and then escalated after the death of George Floyd. Go figure.
The problem has become pervasive enough that crime was a big issue in yesterday’s New York mayoral primaries, where a former cop got the most votes on the Democrat side and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa won the Republican nomination.
China’s State-Run News Agency Is Disturbed By Texas’s New Constitutional Carry Law
Note that Michael Bloomberg’s Texas Gun Sense civilian disarmament advocacy operation (which is described as consisting of “mostly gun owners”) was only too happy to enhance the Xinhua News Agency’s anti-gun narrative with some disinformation about automatic weapons.
The U.S. state of Texas may return to its Wild West past, or even worse, predicts an advocate for responsible gun ownership and opponent of the so-called permitless carry law signed by Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday, which allows Texans to carry handguns without a license or training starting Sept.

It’s the rare silencer review or video (or meme) that doesn’t have the same comment from this guy in the meme. “Suppressor” is great, but it’s slang. “Silencer” is the official term, and this is why.

Illinois Instructor Faces a Felony Charge For Improper Concealed Carry Training
While more and more states dispense with concealed carry licensing along with training requirements in favor of constitutional carry, some state still have these mandates in place. Illinois, as the last state in the nation to adopt concealed carry — under court mandate — still has licensing and training requirements. Now, one of the Illinois State Police’s formerly-approved instructors faces criminal charges for faulty training.
Terry Lumma, 60 from Shipman, Illinois, is facing a felony forgery charge for allegedly signing off on training certificates for classes that failed to meet the state’s requirements.

Why Sen. Susan Collins is Voting ‘No’ on David Chipman’s ATF Nomination
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) announced on Monday she will not be voting to confirm President Joe Biden’s nominee for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), David Chipman.
Collins explained her reasoning in a statement to Fox News:
“After meeting with Mr. Chipman, listening to Mainers, and reviewing his record, I have decided to vote against Mr. Chipman’s nomination to serve as the ATF Director,” Collins, R-Maine, said in a statement.
GOP Senators: Proposed New ATF Rules are Steps Toward a National Gun Registry
You’re probably aware that as part of the BidenHarris administration’s war on civilian gun ownership, the ATF has proposed two new regulatory rules. The first lays out a new definition of what constitutes a firearm. The rule is allegedly intended to battle the scourge of un-serialized privately made firearms — AKA “ghost guns.” The rule would, in effect, end the 80% lower business and attempt to strictly regulate home-built guns, a clear infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.

Texas’s New Suppressor Law Explained: Nothing Will Change Any Time Soon
By LKB
At long last, the pro-2A side in Texas had a decidedly winning record in the last legislative session. Finally free from years of obstructionist RINO House Speakers, the Texas House passed a slew of long-overdue changes to Texas firearms law in the session that was just completed.
While it took no small amount of pressure on Lt. Gov. Patrick and a number of wavering GOP senators, at the end of the day the People of the Gun pretty much got everything we asked for out of the Texas legislature.
50 Competitors Shoot it Out in the First Gun Maker’s Match Competition for Home Built Firearms

The match was sold out at 50 competitors who came from all over the country to participate.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey Went Shopping For New Guns Days After Plea Deal
Mark and Patricia McCloskey made plenty of waves last year when pictures of the St. Louis couple defending their home went viral. At the time, Black Lives Matters protestors had decended on the couple’s neighborhood and broke through a gate. The McCloskey’s feared for their safety.
The story became highly publicized when St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner brought felony charges against the McCloskeys. A judge pulled the case from Gardner and appointed special prosecutor, former U.S.
