The incident, which took place around 10:20 a.m., as expected has reignited the usual dash by some legislators, organizations and media to call for more gun legislation before those who were sadly lost have even been mourned.

The U.S. Navy has relieved the destroyer commander, who was pictured firing a rifle with the scope mounted backward, of his duty because of the incident and the resulting backlash.
According to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, Cmdr. Cameron Yaste was removed Friday, more than four months after the incident.
The Navy said Yaste was relieved of duty “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command the guided-missile destroyer” that is currently deployed in the Gulf of Oman.

Packing the Supreme Court: What It Could Mean for Gun Owners
Vice President Kamala Harris has yet to define much of her policy agenda for voters to scrutinize. Much of that is being left to proxies. So far, she has indicated a continued march toward more unconstitutional gun control. She’s yet to actually deny that she would abandon her previous policy agenda of forced confiscation of Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs). The only “denial” that’s been made purports to come from an unnamed campaign staffer. This election, though, will be a referendum on the future of the U.S.
Don’t Like the Media? Become the Media and Make it Better
There has never been a better time to be a citizen journalist. The corporate media has lost all credibility – followed by its audience – and the tools now available for independent news gatherers have never been better or more powerful.
All legacy media platforms have been hit hard economically – TV, print, radio and digital. Their advertising revenue has plummeted, and they’re laying off staffers while holding focus groups to understand why their audience left and where they went.

VP Harris, ATF Ignore Congressional Inquiry On Glock Lawsuit Collusion
We reported back in late-July how the White House was colluding with anti-gun groups to target gunmaker Glock with a frivolous lawsuit.
At the time, the chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee had sent a letter demanding that Stefanie Feldman, the Director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, quit stalling and provide answers over “potential collaboration” between Biden-Harris administration officials and Everytown for Gun Safety.
“The initial deadline has passed on my initial request with no communication from the White House regarding document production,” Kentucky Rep.

Knives Out: After Virtually Outlawing Guns, U.K. Officials Now Coming After Knives
Remember that slippery slope of continual government regulation followed by overreach by always justifying “we just need to do a little more and then our plans will work” TTAG wrote about the other day? Well, if you don’t believe in it, just take a look at what’s playing out in the United Kingdom.
As knife crime surges in the U.K., the government has launched an amnesty and compensation scheme targeting “zombie-style” knives and machetes, urging citizens to turn in these newly banned weapons before facing potential legal repercussions.

A machete-wielding intruder had second thoughts when he found himself staring down the business end of a Texas homeowner’s 9mm handgun. The confrontation happened around 5 p.m. on August 21. Liberty Hill homeowner, Darryl Stevens, caught the intruder on camera attempting to break into his home, Fox 7 Austin is reporting.

Comparing Silencer Central’s Banish 223 Suppressors
Silencer Central’s Banish line offers two excellent options for shooters seeking .223/5.56 caliber suppression: the Banish 223 and the newer Banish Speed K. Let’s dive into the key differences between these suppressors to help you choose the right one for your firearm.
Size and Weight
The most striking difference lies in their physical dimensions. Thanks to its titanium construction, the Banish 223 boasts a 7-inch length and weighs 11.4 ounces, making it a well-balanced option for most AR-15 platforms.

More Bruen Fallout: Switchblades Now Legal In Massachusetts
After being banned for nearly seven decades, Massachusetts residents can now carry switchblades, thanks to the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.
On Tuesday, the Commonwealth’s Judicial Court, the highest court in the state, ruled that switchblades fall under the same Second Amendment protection as firearms do and cannot be banned by the state.
In the ruling concerning the law passed by the state legislature in 1967, Justice Serge Georges Jr.
Missouri Armed Citizen Stops Home Intruder
While many anti-gun politicians and organizations love to say that armed citizens never successfully defend themselves with their firearms, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, we easily find numerous reports of Americans defending themselves and their families with a gun every day and all throughout the nation just by cruising local news reports.
One of the latest such incidents happened last weekend in Missouri when an intruder who kicked in the back door of a home was shot and killed by the home’s armed occupant.

Texas AG Sues Dallas, Texas State Fair Over Carry Ban
The ongoing battle over Texas State Fair officials banning concealed carry during this year’s fair, set to open on September 27 in Dallas, has resulted in a lawsuit.
On Thursday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the City of Dallas and the Texas State Fair over the decision, which was a direct turnaround from the previous carry policy. In the lawsuit, Paxton asked the court to grant injunctive relief to prevent the City of Dallas or the State Fair of Texas from enforcing the unlawful ban on firearms.
“Municipalities cannot nullify state law nor can they avoid accountability by contracting official functions to nominally third parties,” Paxton said in a release announcing the filing.

Give an inch, and they’ll take a mile. A slippery slope. Death by a thousand cuts. By whatever name you call it, Democrats in California have mastered the art of chipping away at constitutional rights. That’s what’s taking place right now in the Golden State where last week, Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the state wants to raise the cost of an ammunition background check (that’s right, in California, you have to have a background check just to buy ammunition) from $1 to $5.
Labor Day Holiday Update aka Gone Shooting
The bosses are unlocking the rusty cage in the dark ammo shelter they keep us toiling away in here at TTAG and said we are free to run wild in the watermelon patch an extra day since Monday is one of the very few things the Feds have foisted on us that is actually good…the Labor Day holiday. So with that temporary reprieve, this is just a quick heads up to our TTAG faithful that our usual light weekend posting schedule will extend through Monday as well, Tuesday if sobriety hasn’t kicked in sufficiently by then.
