The Truth About Guns

Iowa Law Will Ban Merchant Codes, Creation of Firearms Registries
Iowa is not only set to enact a law that prohibits financial institutions from using specific merchant codes on credit card transactions for gun purchases with firearms retailers, but will take it a step further and outright ban “state and local governmental agencies from keeping a record or registry of privately owned firearms”.
The legislation, House File 2464, recently cleared the final legislative hurdle when the Iowa House agreed to a Senate amendment.
Washington Post Asks Citizens How to Make City Safer. The Answer: More Cops, Not Gun Control
Skyrocketing crime in major cities was a tragic consequence of the confluence of several factors. There was the coronavirus pandemic, prolonged lockdowns, defund the police riots and the rise in soft-on-crime city prosecutors that refused – and still do – to hold criminals accountable. Just one month ago, The Washington Post editorial board decried a devastating trend in the nation’s Capital that appears at odds with how things are going in other major metropolitans across the country.
A Strategy To Foil Carjackers at Walmart (Or Any Large Store Parking Lot)
In almost every family, there’s one adult who likes to go into stores and one who would rather wait outside in the car. This not only means not walking around and being bored, but it also means you can pull up and quickly load the groceries and toilet paper. Personally, I’m the adult in the family who’d rather sit in the car and sometimes work.
Even if you’re not trying to work, it can be tough to maintain situational awareness and watch out for carjackers (or other threats) for very long.
More Bad Legislation On The Move In Colorado
The punitive proposed ban on semi-auto rifles that was just passed by the state House of Representatives and sent to the Senate for consideration isn’t the only restrictive legislation being considered in Colorado this session.
Democrat lawmakers, who have a majority in both the House and Senate, are also pushing a measure that would expand the list of “sensitive places” where lawful gun owners would be banned from carrying their firearms for self-defense.

Arkansas AG Demands Answers, Bodycams from ATF’s Fatal Raid
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin has serious questions for ATF officials about their botched March 19 SWAT team raid, which killed Little Rock Airport executive director, Bryan Malinowski, in his home. And if ATF has bodycam footage of the fatal raid, Griffin wants to see that, too.
“As someone who couldn’t be a bigger law enforcement supporter, when our government acts in a particular way that raises questions, we have an obligation to say something.
Michigan CPL Holder in Hot Water Over Brandishing Incident in Grocery Store
In a tense moment at a Kroger store in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, the actions of Isaiah Ware, a concealed pistol licensee, have come under legal questioning and as a result, sparked a broader debate about the best way to respond in an altercation when you’re packing. The case serves as a warning to other carry permit holders or open carry practitioners on when the simple brandishing of a firearm to avoid a physical confrontation could land you in hotter water than a few thrown fists.
David v. Goliath: Small Gun Club Wages Constitutional Battle in Missouri
During its heyday, the Glendale Shooting Club located near Robertsville, Missouri, was home to shotgun, silhouette, high-power rifle, handgun and cowboy action shooters. It hosted regular matches, including the Bauer Brothers Cup, and had around 400 active members.
Today, the clay shooting is long gone as are the matches, and the members—only around 140 remain—are writing personal checks to subsidize a convoluted and confusing legal fight that began 40 years ago.
The stakes are extremely high.
Never Underestimate The Danger Of Edged Weapons
A recent video out of Tucson, Ari., shows us the right way to respond to a man threatening you with a sword. But, if you’ve never thought too much about how you’d respond to such a thing, it’s worth taking a few seconds to mentally run through that scenario, because misconceptions about blades and guns are all over the map in society.
But first, let’s look at the video:
Obviously, this guy isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, and his connection with reality wasn’t very solid.

Report: Biden’s Magazine Ban Targets Three-Quarters Of Mags In U.S.
President Joe Biden and other gun-ban advocates like to tell Americans that firearms magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are “evil.” What they don’t tell you, however, is that these magazines, which they want to ban, make up the vast majority of mags owned by Americans.
As recently as Feb. 14 Biden called for a ban on what he calls “high-capacity” magazines, which are actually standard-capacity magazines that come stock with most semi-auto firearms sold today.
Fire Breaks Out in Pennsylvania Ammo Plant, Foreign Media Takes Note
A fire erupted at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Pennsylvania, which produces key military supplies, including heavy artillery ammunition. The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. local time on Monday, April 15, and resulted in the emission of black smoke from the facility. Local emergency services quickly responded to what was described as a “structure fire.”
The Scranton plant, managed by General Dynamics-Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) under the U.S. Army’s Joint Munitions Command, confirmed the fire was small and had been extinguished with no injuries reported.
Rust Armorer Receives Maximum Sentence, 18 Months In Prison
The armorer in charge of the prop guns and ammunition on the set of the movie Rust has been sentenced to 18 months in a state prison for the incident in which actor Alec Baldwin shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun in October 2021.
A New Mexico jury had found 25-year-old Hanna Gutierrez-Reed guilty of involuntary manslaughter back in early March. And on Monday, a judge handed down the maximum sentence to Gutierrez-Reed, citing her lack of remorse as one reason for that penalty.
Federal Act Would Require Ranges on Many Public Lands
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed, with bipartisan support, H.R. 6492, the Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act. The bill, introduced by U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), garnered 51 bipartisan cosponsors. The measure was approved in a voice vote, a rare demonstration of Congress working across party lines.
The EXPLORE Act must be approved by the U.S. Senate before it can be considered by President Joe Biden.

Obscure Object of Desire: Ruby Pistol
One of the most common, recurring themes in warfare from the dawn of organized armed forces is a lack of weapons, equipment and ammo when you need it. The French found themselves in need of weapons, a lot of weapons, right around 1914. That pesky Great War raged on, and the French needed guns. The French turned to numerous sources, and one such source was Spain. Right before the war, a company called Gabilondo y Urresti (who later became Llama) designed a pistol named the Ruby.

Why Everyone Should Be Getting Into VR Training
When I was a teenager, I liked to play paintball with cousins and friends, along with a few army guys from church. The realistic fighting environment, including some pain if you lose, was a lot of fun. Being one step removed from risk of death along with some people to teach me about things like cover fire was a lot of fun. During those years, I came across a video game on the shelf at Best Buy that made me laugh out loud (and draw some confused looks from other shoppers).

Update: Court Refuses to Allow Oregon’s Anti-Gun Measure to Go Into Effect During Appeal
In the latest update on Oregon’s contentious gun control law, Measure 114, the Oregon Court of Appeals has blocked the law from taking effect while an appeal is ongoing, KATU reports. The decision comes after a Harney County judge previously ruled that the measure violated the constitutional right to bear arms under the Oregon Constitution.
Measure 114, which was approved by voters, mandates that individuals undergo a criminal background check and complete a gun safety training course to obtain a permit to purchase a firearm.
The Battle For National Park Carry Isn’t Over
In 2009, President Barack Obama signed a law that ended the National Park Service’s ban on guns in parks, monuments, historic parks and every other kind of NPS property. Obama, of course, didn’t want to do it, but because Republicans managed to get national park carry inserted into a “must-pass” bill, Obama was left with little choice but to sign on the line.
This was, of course, a big victory for gun rights.

FPC Targets California Non-Resident Carry Ban
Among gun owners, California is infamous for having some of the most restrictive—and unconstitutional—gun laws on the books. And one by one they’re being challenged in court.
On Thursday, the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) filed a lawsuit against California for the law that bans carry of firearms in the state by out-of-state residents. The case, Hoffman v. Bonta, filed on behalf of three out-of-state gun owners, is just one of several that FPC and the FPC Action Fund (FPCAC) are currently litigating in California on behalf of lawful gun owners.

OK: Lawmakers Advance Measure To Let 18- to 20-Year-Olds Buy Handguns
When it comes to denying a certain group of Americans a constitutional right, there are few examples as egregious as the infringement upon the Second Amendment rights of adults aged 18 to 20 years old. While considering them adults in every other way, the government apparently considers them second-class citizens, banning them from purchasing certain guns because of the size of those firearms—namely handguns.
Now, lawmakers in Oklahoma are set to do something about this infringement.
Those Wacky ATF Folks: Changing the Meaning of Words
It appears those wacky bureaucrats with guns and jackboots are at it again. That’s right, the ATF is trying to change laws and even the meaning of words to allow them to lord over even more of the U.S. citizenry who might have a desire to defend themselves or maybe just have a little fun shooting targets and such. Breitbart’s AWR Hawkins reported the ATF’s background check rule has expanded the definition of “sale” in gun transactions to include services or bartering, which could effectively require private sellers to use the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

UMPOSSIBLE! Mass Stabbing Attack in Australia Leaves At Least Six Dead, 9-Month-Old Critical
When seconds count, police are just minutes away. And in the land Down Under, outside of the police, the good guys have been thoroughly disarmed. Which is why a rampaging terrorist armed with a large knife or small machete was able to slaughter six and maim at least eight others in a crowded shopping mall before an armed female cop finally showed up and punched his ticket.
Mega kudos to the blonde female cop who not only dispatched the killer, but also then went on to try to save lives among the victims.
